We value supporting local businesses, so it is especially unfortunate that we cannot continue supporting a restaurant in our hometown. Our section of the party spent about $95.00 and received cold food and very poor service. While we understand that servers do not need to be personally invested in our celebration, we do expect basic courtesy and professionalism, especially when the restaurant was informed well in advance that this was a large birthday gathering. The server's behavior made it clear that she did not care about the event or the experience of our table. When I went to the front to pay my tab, the server appeared stressed and visibly irritated, including by my presence while paying. She did not speak to me during the transaction other than to remind me that the tip was not included. While I briefly stepped away from the table, the server returned and told the rest of our group that tips were to be left in the middle of the table. We were not initially given water and had to ask for it. Once brought, our waters were never refilled. Several dishes were served completely cold. Throughout the evening, the server scoffed at us multiple times and interrupted our conversations, which made the dinner uncomfortable and took away from what should have been a meaningful family celebration. Lots of my loved ones are restaurant owners and servers and I have so much respect for them. I hope this restaurant supports this server. We have eaten here countless times in the past 11 years and YES during Covid they saved us a few times, we will always come here! Local iconic traditional Chinese American food at competitive prices never had a bad meal here EVER. That's so great to be able to say that. Staff is always smiling warm comfy great booths and tables excellent tea and lots to choose from. Highly recommend the crab puffs on appetizers plate ! my hubby came here as a kid and ate burgers when he was not quite ready for new foods. lol. The food is bland and extremely mediocre. The so called "crab puffs" had essentially no crab in them and were basically just cream cheese. The dipping sauce provided is ketchup with sugar and soy sauce. My food was ready pretty which made up for the blandness of it. read more

I think I got the dinner combo. I think it comes with fried rice, spring roll, crab puffs, your choice of meat, and tea. I ordered crab puffs for appetizers so I guess that's why they decided not to give me one for the combo meal. I asked the server what's in the seafood soup and she replied rudely and said "it's seafood it's American" ummm ok Place looks old and rundown. Americanized Chinese food is not something I eat often as I do prefer eating traditional Chinese food. Though occasionally, I'll eat some Americanized Chinese food. I got a chance to try their combos and to my surprise it was good and with no MSG. Kung Pao Chicken has a great amount of chicken, vegetables, peanuts and spice! The combo was a good portion, came with 5 pieces of fried shrimp, 4 crab puffs, good amount of fried rice and almond chicken-chow mein. I was able to substitute egg roll for fried rice! The almond chicken had a nice flavor with the mixture of vegetables. The crab puff and shrimp was crispy and not oily. This is a great family-owned business, they really care about the customers and the food they serve. They are open for pick up, just order via phone & delivery through door dash. it took awhile before I tried this place, it always looked deserted when we drove by. but order this on a whim. usually if we are with the step kid we order one of family combinations, plenty of leftovers afterwards. i love love the fried rice, I dunno why, I crave it. we do sometimes call ahead since we dont live that far from here. the lady that works there is very friendly, 10/10 would would definitely eat here again. if by myself, I usually order the combination 9 and fried wonton. read more

We were in the area and we were craving lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork. So we decided to give this place a chance. Lets just say if you want real lemon chicken don't go here. It's interesting to read other reviews. I've travelled the world. Including China from Beijing to Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The food her is all American based Chinese food and put together very well. It tastes fresh and cooked to order. The seasoning is perfect. They don't use salt in China, so it's nice to have just enough for flavor. We love the food here. The egg rolls are crisp and delicious. The crab puffs and bbq pork are a must have for me! The staff is friendly, the food comes out nice and hot. They are pretty good on accepting substitutions on the combo meals (they may charge a couple dollars, but most places do) We have ordered during the Covid 19 shutdown for take out, and it was quick and easy, the food was perfect. I used to come here when I was younger with my parents most every Sunday afternoon. So my wife and I tried the lunch buffet. I'm sure there are new owners now but it looks, feels, & tastes exactly like I remembered it! I think the furniture is even the same. LoL The food was fresh & good. I've been exploring local restaurants and noticed a sign out front declaring new ownership. I was surprised at how big the place was inside. There is a nice cozy bar with a cute and friendly bartender. I'd say the food is average or above compared to other Americanized Chinese Food restaurants in Clark County. The crab puffs were particularly tasty. Perhaps because the place is so big, the staff uses carts with high quality wheels to speed around as they clear the tables. It's kind of entertaining to see how fast they go. If you want really good Asian food I believe you still have to go into Portland, but if you need a quick fix of sweet and sour pork, this place will do the job. read more

I love all types of Chinese food, mom and pop places, fusion, chains, delivery, homemade. But the food here was far from appetizing or almost edible. The shrimp had not even had the veins removed. I was kind of surprised to see this place get such a low rating. My family and I have been going to Chinese Garden ever since we moved to the area in 2001. We take family and friends that visit here all the time and people love it. Our favorite regular entree dishes are: Happy Family, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Green Bean Beef, Pork Lo Mein and the General Tso's Chicken (though we get it without the spicy stuff). The vegetables in the dishes are fresh and crispy. The meats are tender and juicy. The staff is always very friendly. We've come here so much over the years that several of the wait staff (they don't have a lot of staff turnover which is nice) remember that I like my ice water with lots of ice and I always like a side of sweet and sour sauce to dip my food in, so they usually bring them without my even having to ask. The food is always fresh and hot and the portions are big. When we go for dinner, we always get our regular entrees, mentioned above, for the three of us. We eat at the restaurant and then take the rest home and get at least two more meals out of it. All for under $50. I also like their all-you-can-eat lunch buffet during weekdays. Everything is fresh and they are very vigilant to be sure the food is stocked up. They don't make big batches of the foods at one time, so it seems like they are constantly bringing fresh stuff out. If you want anything refilled you just have to ask. It's not a very big buffet, but it seems to have most everyone's favorites. All you want for under $7 a person. So the bad reviews are way harsh....Came from the midwest, where Szechuan was king. We aren't very accustomed to all the other teriyaki, thai, pho places and have steered away. Finally tried Chinese Garden today. Ordered online, which we discovered doesn't work correctly upon arrival. Staff was apologetic and helpful and had the order out quickly once it was discovered what happened. Food portions are huge and meat/veggie balance is spot on. Moo goo gai pan was good with or without extra soy sauce. Kung Pao beef good, but could use extra spice. Husband's going to try adding sriracha when it's time for leftovers. Plain fried rice is tasty, and a "cup" order is more than sufficient for us both. Crab puffs are skimpy on the filling. I'd rather pay the same price for 6 plump puffs than 10 skinny wrappers. Haven't dipped into the ham fried rice except to taste a few pieces of ham from the top, which were pretty tasty. Even better, they put quite a few fortune cookies and tiny tea packets in the condiment bag. In reviewing the menu, if you are someone who can't decide on which meat to get in your dish, there are 'family' meals with ALL the meats in them. Overall a great lunch. Will return. read more

I ended up here on accident as I thought it was the 4 star in Washougal. I chose poorly. I got takeout so I didn't know how bad it was until I arrived home. Sweet and Sour Chicken: If you like to have your chicken soggy in a red soup then this is your place. If you prefer to dunk your chicken in the sauce (like most Chinese restaurants) then don't even think about getting it here! Orange Chicken: See above. I can handle it being tossed in the sauce, but it might as well have been soup. Sesame Chicken: At least they didn't go overboard on the sauce...wait...there wasn't any sauce. $30 down the drain...literally. It is nice to have a non-crowded chinese restaurant every now and then. This place is pretty big with a very old building feel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have been here quite often recently and there has never been a wait with maybe 6 other groups already seated. I enjoy a quiet dinner sometimes! The portions are huge and the prices are good for the most part. Plus there is a wide selection on the menu. Sodas are semi-expensive with only one free refill! At least the hot tea comes with the combos! I normally always get the sweet and sour chicken or the cashew chicken combo. They haven't let me down yet with those meals. The people I have gone with had some iffy experience with their food though. It seems like it was hit or miss though. I guess just be prepared if you ever come here! Stopped by on my way home from the doctor's. Ordered Pork fried rice and General Tso' chicken. Fried rice had the texture of mush and the pork smelled rancid. I moved to the Camas/Washougal area a couple years ago from Vancouver and one thing I really missed was the amount of options for Chinese food so when I discovered this place existed right down the street from our new place I thought I might have just hit the jackpot. Unfortunately I was severely mistaken. The food here might just be the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. It's bland and fairly tasteless, soggy, slimey and just plain gross! The building looks very old and outdated which isn't that big of a deal really except that it also seems fairly unclean, even for an older Chinese restaurant. I've tried them out several times, (went with some friends, ordered take out, tried out the bar) hoping for a better experience but every time is the same. The only positives are the low wait time, (you won't have to wait long to get your bad food!) and the bar. As many other reviewers have stated, the bar is VERY divey and dark, (in a good way, if you like that sort of atmosphere). When I ate in the bar I couldn't really see my food and as Leah N. stated, I think that is probably on purpose! Drinks were good though, strong and priced fairly. If the food was even just slightly better I might actually recommend this to Chinese food lovers living in the Camas/Washougal area but I simply can't. If you want good, or even decent Chinese food you will have to go to Vancouver or Portland. read more

We order 3 fairly common dishes one of those being chicken fried rice. Certainly that's a dish that can't be bad. It's such a common dish. Wrong! It was the worst tasting fried rice I have ever tasted. I could have done better making it in my own kitchen with no recipe, blind folded with my hands tied behind my back. Yes, it was that bad! I will say the egg roll was decent. So if you are looking for a good egg roll and prepackaged fortune cookies, this is your place. For anything else, don't even stop and contemplate eating here.
