For steakhouse prices, we were served loaded potatoes overwhelmed by raw onion, mac and cheese that tasted like cardboard, burnt green beans, and an average steak. My sister left a review describing exactly what occurred, and instead of taking responsibility or apologizing, the owner publicly claimed that the fly landed on the roll before it reached our table and that the waitress had already replaced it before it was served. That is simply not what happened. The roll with the fly was served directly to our table. How would we see the fly if the roll was never served to us?? Makes absolutely no sense. We all saw it. Otherwise, there would've been nothing for us to point out. Everyone makes mistakes. A fly can get into a restaurant despite a business's best efforts. What determines good customer service is how those mistakes are handled. In this case, there was no genuine apology, unnecessary arguing with a customer over an incorrect replacement order, and then a public response that completely contradicted what we personally experienced instead of accepting responsibility. The lack of accountability was far more disappointing than the original mistake. I hope the restaurant takes customer concerns more seriously in the future and understands that honesty and accountability go a long way toward rebuilding trust.

We were hemming and hawing as to what we ought to have for dinner last night. We knew we wanted Chinese but since we're new to Simi, we really didn't find a lot of choices. So we thought we'd try Golden Panda Buffet. Maybe it's due to their culture, but the employees were not at all friendly; they were efficient. They cleared the tables and plates quickly yet it was rather rude when we were presented with our check and they watched when we filled out the amount. It appeared as though they wanted to get a good look as to whether they would receive a tip albeit they really didn't do anything to justify earning one. We gave them an adequate tip nonetheless. As for the choices, we liked that they had crab, teriyaki chicken on a stick, steamed rice and roasted chicken pieces. The orange chicken tasted like a store-brand frozen item and it was tough to chew. We were amused to see garlic bread, pizza slices and strange looking French fries but at least there was something for the kids. Too bad Pepsi was the drink offered so we just had water. The desserts left much to be desired. Not much of a choice at all. We were able to get a senior discount but all in all, didn't think it was worth twenty bucks a person (with the discount) and we found it rather offensive that a sign was placed warning customers that if they left anything on their plate, they would be charged $8.99 per pound(!) for it since the owners apparently did not want people taking more than they could eat. That's a reasonable request but to charge an exorbitant fee? What if people chose to try and item and decided they didn't care for it -- why should they be punished for wasting food? We're not sure if we will return or not given all of the "rules". Oh by the way, it's probably best if you dine before it gets dark; when we left at around 6:30, the restaurant was pretty crowded. read more

I have eaten in many Chinese/Japanese food places from expensive to economical, and I do not think that any Chinese/Japanese food restaurant can: (1) Beat their lunch prices (2) Provide over 50 choices of tasty Chinese/Japanese dishes, including pizza and soups (3) Provide a bar with tasty fruits, desserts, and ice creams & (4) Fresh food, because there are so many customers going there that the dishes have to be replaced often. Do not listen to the bitter haters. Some people just make nothing out of anything. Go there and enjoy their goodness. Use your logic also, a place with a high volume of people will get their bathrooms and facilities used. It will be normal if they have to clean often, and yet, I found the place clean, presentable & spacious. Those complaining reviews I read were not true to me. Fortunately, the restaurant's expansive seating capacity ensured a wait time of under 10 minutes. The service is notably efficient, and it is commendable that despite the high volume of customers, the staff is consistently replenishing the food trays and supplies, thereby eliminating a wait. Most the food is mediocre, none of the people staffing the buffet speak English enough to help with the simplest of requests. They serve all the crap cuts of sushi for lunch and wait for the dinner crowd to put out anything worth eating. I even had to go to the kitchen to request a drink refill after trying to wave someone down several times. The photos show how our table was left--uncooked meat, empty drinks, and no service. I finally had to track down our original waiter just to get the bill. I explained all of the issues, which he acknowledged, yet we were still handed the full $250 bill. I had to specifically ask for some type of adjustment, and they reduced it by only $30. We left after paying $220 for "all you can eat," and my family and guests were STILL hungry because we couldn't even get consistent service or a working grill. Extremely disappointing, especially for what was supposed to be a special celebration. We will not be returning.

My suggestion is to drink plenty of cold water which the restaurant does provide happily. Service is usually fast. They will come around to change the grill plate, and take in the new order. It was so difficult to get a server the entire time. We ordered our first round and the server didn't start our grill. We tried for several minutes to get an employee to start our grill with their lighter after trying ourselves. There were no water refills the entire time we dined in. The beef bulgogi flavor was okay but the meat is essentially minced because of how tiny and shredded it is, which really speaks to the low quality. The flavor was the tteokbokki didn't seem right either. A lot of the other meats we ordered were either excessively fatty or extremely tough and chewy. Their banchan is very limited. It's very overpriced for the quality and selection you get. I won't be back and recommend that if you're looking for kbbq you find somewhere else.
