This was a pretty decent AYCE spot to hit, especially in the area it's in, as there aren't too many options around. Initially, there weren't any complaints with any of our orders; however, I was with two friends who have big appetites, and by the second round, the chefs started filling our food with absurd amounts of rice. It felt as if they were making the food with the intent of getting us out ASAP. Aside from that, the appetizers and all the rolls we got, especially the non-rice rolls, were good; however, I would recommend against ordering any tuna nigiri/rolls that have tuna. We came here for late dinner. The service here was nice and very efficient. The restaurant has tv monitors around so you can catch a sports game. The restaurant has a casual Asian ambiance with high ceilings. We ordered the sushi combo plates and a lemon drop roll. The fish was not very cold and almost a bit warm. The food was still very good. On the lemon drop roll, some lemon slices had only lemon rind on top of salmon which left the roll very bitter. My fiancé and I were looking for AYCE sushi while we stayed at the courtyard marriot. Unbeknownst to us, it was in the same plaza! Lunch was $36 I believe and dinner was I think $40. I do remember the sashimi price for AYCE was like $45-46. We thought the quality was great for AYCE. Their shrimp tempura was also AMAZING. We love that you can try their specialty rolls and it's a half order. They also offer so many types of speciality rolls like no rice. Recommendations: We really liked the roll that had lemon slices on top of tuna. Their salmon skin hand roll was lots of salmon skin - yum! Ate here for the 1st time with my wife and brother-in-law. We all had ayce option @ 45$/person (ouch!) . The sushi was over-loaded with sweet sauce and just was sloppy in general. We are not from here so perhaps this is a socal preferance to have overloaded and sugary sushi rolls? We have experienced sushi in many places, all over the world including Tokyo and this was just gross. Sorry for the bad review but darn, after tip and only ordering water to drink, it stings to pay 150+ for junk. Would give zero stars if I could but I'll give the service the one star because it was good. The servers were friendly and attentive but the food was terrible. We ordered all you can eat which is usually lower quality but this was bad! Everything smelled fishy, and tasted overly fishy. The imitation crab was burnt on top of the baked rolls. The albacore sushi was dry and tasted terrible. All the rolls tasted the same. Edamame's weren't even good. Miso was ok. Tempura shrimp was not made with tempura batter. Why is it that many sushi places, especially ones that offer AYCE only good when they just opened? After that, there seems to be less effort; you're not even trying anymore. Opted for dinner, the premium selection is $45.00 per person. Here is why I gave them a one-star review: - Shrimp tempura appetizer was deep-fried in a breadcrumb batter; everyone knows that shrimp tempura is fried in tempura batter! What happened? Are you out of tempura batter along the way? It's very tough and dry... - The uni sushi tasted old and not fresh; they should take this off the menu; this is the same as the last time I visited this place. Was it taken out of the freezer? - The quail egg shooter is terrible; it was drenched in soy sauce and didn't look appetizing. - The worst offender is the imitation crab; for some reason, tonight, across different rolls, they have this "cheesy" taste, almost like cream cheese. I do not think that it is cream cheese; the crab meat was getting bad. Overall, I guess this place is okay. One thing that stands out is the service. They are definitely great at coming by and checking up on you, and bringing out your ordered food pretty quickly. Plenty of parking, that's for sure. Don't worry about that. And it's free! The food, value, etc: It's good, but a few things on the menu can use improvement. For instance, the menu heading says "no rice" on an item, but 1 of the items in that section is basically a fried rice loaf with sushi on top. Lol. There was a crab thing in this section that has WAY too much mayo in it. Good thing we got this item last, because if I would have gotten it first, I probably would have thrown up mid meal. The all you can eat special they have is worth it. The way the upgraded Sashimi section works is that there is a specific portion of the menu that can only be ordered if you pay the upgrade fee. At the time of writing this review, September 2022, the upgraded so she need price was $45 on the all-you-can-eat menu. The lunch or dinner AYCE is worth the price. It's hard finding good ones these days where you get quality, the quantity, and also value for what you're paying. One good thing I will say about the all you can eat sushi portion sizes that they usually come in four pieces. Not the usual eight like a full roll at other places. I like this because you can order one round, and if you like it order another. But if you don't like it, you can just finish whatever's left (3 pieces), not have to deal with finishing an entire 8 piece roll. You get 3 rounds of ordering. read more
