If you have ever been to Frontier, Golden Pride is basically the same thing but a fast food version because it is owned by the same person. Golden pride is a drive through for mostly New Mexican-ish style food and the food is pretty good. My favorite things are the #1 breakfast burrito and their sweet rolls. The burrito has the most amazing roasted green Chile that is not crazy spicy. And their tortillas are home made and super fluffy. Their sweet rolls are so yummy. I know some people who don't like them because they don't taste like a classic cinnamon roll, but they are warm buttery, sweet, and amazing. Mmm read more

Sunday morning I ventured out for some comfort food. I do not like the drive thru at Golden Pride Bbq Chicken & Ribs on Central NW. I use the drive thru often because I use a wheelchair and they are more accessible. I wanted take out so it seemed like a reasonable choice. They really should do something about the hilly, long, narrow drive thru. I ordered the Western Style Hashbrowns and a sweet roll. The hashbrowns were mushy and tasted more like mash potatoes and the sweet roll was tough. Right after I finished eating I got a horrible stomach ache and I am still recovering. Cashier was giving attitude about my order about putting cheese, than the power went out and shorted me my change on drink refund. My moms drink she got tea with no ice, no ice cause power was out, without ice the tea tasted god awful, so landed up pouring it out and asked for a refund, same cashier said that lady (meaning my mom) drank all the tea and expecting a refund. You cannot get better fried chicken anywhere in the city. This location and the location by Eubank are the best in town. Friendly staff and they pay attention to what you want and don't give you any problems for special requests. The parking sucks and the orange cones on Central for the bus system upgrade make it seem like it would be easier to eat someplace else, but order the rib combo or a three piece chicken and you'll know it was worth it. I used to visit everyday and spent 250.00 to 300.00 a month in this place as I don't cook, but got tired of one employee always getting my order wrong. She is rude and yelled at me when I told her I was tired of it. No customer service. I didn't even get and apology. I did get my money back and sent on my way. Their tea is always nasty. I don't drink sugar in my tea. I order tea many times and when I told them it was nasty they tried to give me soda which I don't drink and never gave me my money back. I have to demand it if I want my money back. The managers should get training on how to manage their rude and lack of customer service employee's. The same employee is still working at this location so it tells me Golden Pride condones this behavior. If I want chicken I go to a different location where the employees have manners! read more

Best fast food fried chicken in town. KFC and Churches don't even come close. Ribs are OK and so are the burritos. There are lots of better places for those but if it's fast fried chicken you want this is the best. The sides also could be better. read more

I was on this side of town last night and stopped in for what used to be my families favorite treat. I was so disappointed they took rice pilaf off the menu! The Mac n cheese tasted like it came out of a pouch and the potatoes must instant! I must say the fried chicken was fantastic however. Usually this place is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I went last night (12/27/2019 around 8:15 pm) because I just had to have one of their chicken sandwiches. Got my sandwich, it wasn't busy so they cooked it up right there. Upon getting my sandwich I was kind of disappointed because instead using a flat shaped piece of chicken they used a giant chicken breast and just put it in the sandwich. But I thought well I'm sure it will be good and I can use a knife and a fork if I have to. I took a couple bites before I realized the chicken was still pretty raw. I just had to throw out the whole sandwich to avoid getting sick. I'm hoping they can train their staff on the proper amount of time it takes to cook a big piece of chicken like that. Needless to say this was disappointing, I just don't feel like going back anytime soon to try my luck and see if they will cook any chicken I order all the way through. read more

sorry i could not give less than one star. i paid 24 bucks for 2 lbs of bbq ribs. they were dry and not tender at all. they boast best ribs in town, false advertising. they used to have frozen ribs for cheaper but not really any more. i ask every time i go and it is very clear now that No rib no matter how OLD and Dry goes into the frozen rib category , they are sold as fresh. When a business care more about the money and LESS about the quality it hurts all of their outlets. I understand the owner also has the Frontier Restaurant on Central. Clearly the owner has no control over the managers , locations, or quality. This is beyond acceptable. Bottom line, don't waste your hard earned dollars at any Golden Pride or Frontier Restaurant, the owner and the products are not worth it.. i will go tomorrow and return the 1-3/4 lbs that we didn't eat for a refund. read more

Everytime I go here the people in the drive through have poor customer service they are not friendly and look like they hate their job, also they always mess up my order I went through the drive through today and the lady did not read my order back to me so when I got to the window she told me the amount was 39 dollars and I asked her to read me the order the order was completely wrong and she called another girl over to ask her about the order and she gave her attitude she explained the situation to her and they finally found my order and the correct price was 28 a big difference. So I get home and start eating my breakfast burrito and there was so much salt in the potatoes it was inedible. I do not recommend this location at all if you want good service and good food and would like to eat golden pride I would visit the location on lomas. They are quick friendly and the food was great. I wish management would really work on this location because this is closer to home. I will not be going back after several upsetting visits. read more

This morning I stopped to pick up 14 burritos (from the location at 5231 Central Ave NW) for an early morning staff meeting. I have had GP in the past and usually yummy. Today I was VERY disappointed!!! They were filled PRIMARILY with bland-tasting potatoes, hardly any green chili, virtually undetected cheese, rubbery eggs, and undercooked bacon served on an over-sized tortilla for the amount of filling. I had nearly a whole small tortilla once I peeled all the excess tortilla from the fold ends and wrap around!! They were marginally warm from being premade and set under a heat lamp. Never again. Always wanted to try this place after moving to the area and passing it everyday. Walked in and realized it was "fast food ribs". Thought it was an actua restaurant from the outside. But ordered the family platter with the 2 large sides. What came out 2 minutes later was a small basket of ribs that were dry from being under a heat lamp, a cold cup of mashed potatoes, and what was supposed to be cole slaw but looked just like the mashed potatoes. Then a pack of store bought bread with 6 small loaves in it. After opening the bag I looked at the other side and seen it had been eaten on the inside. So took it back to the counter and told the manager on duty. She apologized and gave me another bag of bread. Looked it over and seen it to had been eaten by what looked like a mouse. Bag was nibbeled on and bread had a big corner eaten off. I told the manager the loaf was also eaten. She laughed about it and joked with the guy at the register, asking he had been eating the bread. I refused to take it a second time and told my family not to eat anything and got my full refund. Needless to say I'm never returning to this place. something is going on at the central ave location near university, we have noticed the fried chicken there looks like it is very light in color and has NO seasoning, we eat at the other locations and have not seen this, the last 4 times we ate there over the last few weeks was all the same and we have not been happy about it, there is NO place on there websites to ask or make a comment about it, so I hope there management reads this and finds out what is going on. we will stop eating IF the change there process of cooking there chicken. up until this started happening it was the best chicken we have ever eaten at a fast food place. read more
