I've been hearing wonderful things about Isleta Grill since moving here last year but something has always come up and I've been unable to try it until today. It was absolutely worth the wait and it won't be that long until I try it again. They've been through a lot this year with someone crashing into their brick and mortar location, that didn't stop them from wanting to serve up New Mexico's best green chile cheeseburgers. Even in a food truck on 100° day the staff was very helpful and extremely friendly. They answered any questions I had and were patient with me. I placed my order and even got to go back to my car to wait as he said he would bring it to me. How amazing that even with the food truck I get to relax in my air conditioning while he worked hard for me. My husband got a green chili cheeseburger meal and I got green chile cheese fries (with extra green chile). I've been searching for the best green chile since moving here a year ago and today I found it. I wouldn't consider it to be a hot chile (MAYBE medium) but the flavor was incredible. They had it prepared properly with all the right seasoning. I'm already dreaming and craving my next green chile fix from Isleta Grill. The burger may not look like much in the picture, but my husband loved every bite. There was nothing left to be seen other than the packaging after we demolished an amazing meal. I've passed by this place so many times and wish I would've tried it sooner! I want to try other things on the menu but I can't get past how delicious the Indian taco with green chili is! It's better than waiting for the state fair Indian tacos and much more reasonable! I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area. The BEST native food south of I25. All of the food is delicious and made with lots of love. They really take pride in cooking and assembling it ... it looks just like the pictures. One time I asked if the chile was homemade and she answered "Of course it is!" It's a little hole in the wall, and is very clean. First time visit. When we got there it was lunch time and it was fairly busy. There were only 2 open tables. Service was quick. The woman at the register took our order quickly. After we ordered and sat a ton more people started to arrive and order. It was busy and a bit loud but not overly so. We got our food and I was a bit disappointed that they put chile on my frybread burger even though I clearly asked for it without. Normally this is not a big deal, but recently cannot enjoy chile like I used to due to acid reflux... taking off the chile took off all the cheese on my burger... however I will say if you enjoy hot chile... this is a great place to go... the remnants that I could not remove we very spicy and full of heat for those that like hot chile. We came back to try a couple other items on the menu and again I was not disappointed! This place is a hidden gem! This time we tried a breakfast burrito, a sarape dog, and some steak fajitas. I had been wanting to try this place ever since they won the Green Chile Cheeseburger Challenge at the New Mexican State Fair. The burger was absolutely delicious! I had to wait about 20 minutes, but it was worth the wait! The fry bread was really good. I ordered a frito pie burrito but received a breakfast burrito, so that bummed me out. I went around 11:30 and it wasn't too busy, but by noon the lunch rush was crazy which was a good indicator that people really enjoy eating here. read more

Definitely some of the best New Mexican food in the city. The service is always great. Friendly people and service with a smile. Ambiance is welcoming and comfortable. ALERT - BEST IN NEW MEXICO - ALERT OMG, six star review ahead. What a wonderful surprise. Driving south on our way to Tucson and hungry. Pulled into Isleta Grill (just south of the airport) and discovered a true gem. Best cheeseburger yet (I have been searching everywhere in New Mexico), super fresh meat and fresh cut vegetables. The french fries tasted fresh as well and actually tasted like potatoes instead of fryer oil - wonderful. Everything was perfectly cooked, juicy, hot, delicious. Burger comes in 1/4 lb. or 1/2 lb. The folks were as friendly as you can imagine and the owner was rightfully proud of her restaurant and you could feel that in everything. Great place and plan to return often. read more

Is this average grub worth gambling on? The mushroom swiss burger was moist and not over cooked. Yes, flavourless. But with condiment assistance, it gets past the ever judicial tongue. Very poor customer service, treat you like your a bother. This has happened to me more than once, very rude ladies gives you the impression your food will be made out of malice. With not a single person in their area you would think they would appreciate your business, especially the locals. But I can see why they have no customers, very cold atmosphere. I do not recommend this place. Now the lady at the register is such a kind person very pleasant. Only gas and that's all for me and only when they are cheaper than across the street. read more

This place is the freaking bomb-diggity! Have I mentioned before that I work in the South Valley and there really isn't much nearby. My office is literally on the outskirts of town so when this place opened up, it was a godsend. Sooooo much better then all the fast food options off of isleta. Now, I know the chances of you stopping by here may be quite slim unless you are heading to bosque farms, or perhaps anywhere down south. (Unless you work in the area of course!) Should you find your self nearby, lets just hope that you are hungry and have the time to eat. It's safe to say that we have tried most everything on the menu here between myself and the work fam. My absolute hands down favorite is their Breakfast Burrito Sausage with Red Chile! I'm going to say this, I'm putting it out there, my favorite breakfast burrito in town. There it's done. You must come try it. Their breakfast sausage is so tasty, seasoned and cooked perfectly every time. Its bundled together in a tortilla with potatoes and eggs. Every bite is covered in red chile. Their red chile, soooo good. It's not as hot as I usually prefer my red chile to be but the flavor is just right. The whole flavor experience of this burrito is just so savory and perfect! I get cravings for this burrito. Hmmmmmmm....must prevent myself from drooling. Let me tell you about some of the other deliciousness they can provide you with. The Huevos Rancheros is also hugely popular as well as their Indian Taco. Frito Pie is scrumptious (of course it has the red chile on it)! The burgers are on point and they offer french fries or ribbon fries! It's like fair time all the time! Get the ribbon fries and ask for them extra crispy and they will fry them a bit longer for you, and get them covered in chile and cheese too! Also, everything is made to order. So sometimes it can take a little longer than you want it too. Be prepared and be patient. I will usually call my order in ahead and even then still wait a bit longer then their quote time before I head over. No worries though. So this place is AMAZING! I do not know why it has taken me so long to eat there when I have worked down the road for almost two years. Suddenly, I feel so much regret...*sigh* I ordered the patty melt, always a go to for me, and it shook me out of my boots it was so good. The bread was toasted perfectly and buttered just enough. Perfect proportions of meat and melty jack cheese; mmmm! The customer service was on point. I love their breakfast sandwich. The breakfast burrito is really good too. These ladies hustle hard to make all of the delicious food. I only gave four stars because the shaved ham on the grilled ham and cheese disappointed me. I understand using it, but I prefer a ham steak on mine. Other than that, it's five stars! read more

Another reviewer, Julie, sold me, as soon as she began waxing poetic about the Isleta Grill's breakfast burrito, a roll of art that -- she posited -- was the very greatest to be found anywhere throughout Albuquerque. This was no minor statement, especially because I could recognize, via the poetry, that she was a soul sistah. Her appreciation for the balance between sweet sausage, fresh fried potato, hearty red chile and those grand airy eggos that space all the cheese gooeyness and heft apart, that handheld symphony I could eat all day long, she got it. So I got it, handheld (you can do smothered around here, as well). Great. Not quite at the very tippy top of my list -- that's shared with 2G's Bistro and Monica's El Portal -- but absolutely delicious, and yeah, go with the sausage. This is a legit little eatery that shuts the doors at 2pm, but no worries, they're friendly and they'll cook up and until 2pm.
