Remarkable breakfast burrito for an amazing price. The carne adovada can't be beat!!! Not a fancy location but the food is outstanding

I keep saying I'll never come back here but get weak sometimes, and the number nine is calling my name. It gets right for a little bit and then there's m today after the prices were raised, an old tortilla they couldn't roll up properly, just folded bacon burnt, eggs so dry and overcooked, they just crumbled off the front of the breakfast burrito. The person taking the order seems preoccupied in so many ways to forever to place a simple order. The only saving grace is the lady at the window. She is the nicest person and understands customer service more than a lot of people ever know. I guess I'll give it another two or three month break before I try it again. It's not that hard if it's done right, for some reason the kitchen people in this place just don't get it! read more

Last purchase at Golden Pride on Juan Tabo . My family and I have eaten Golden pride since we moved to the NE heights in 1999. The silly game thats played over the intercom has gotten out of hand already. Someone will ask what to what you ordering then ANOTHER person responds with will that be all , its very annoying and a childish while your employees get a chuckle out of it your customers are left thinking if they got the order correct! Don't know what's gone wrong with the burritos. Hashbrowns have no flavor in the #9. It's like you guys forgot to season! Forgot the salt! Flavorless! So very disappointed. Always a must when we come back in town. We grew up in Albuquerque and now live out of state but we always crave these burritos and Chile! On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., I waited 20 minutes in line at Golden Pride 5231 west Central in 100-degree heat to order the rib plate. When I arrived home, I found the ribs were old, hard, and appeared to have been sitting in the pan for two days, consisting mostly of greasy end pieces. The mashed potato side had no gravy, though the side of green beans was perfect, and I received my roll. Recognizing the signs of old ribs, I was very hungry and managed to eat about half. I then called Golden Pride and spoke to the manager, who told me to return the food. I explained I was across town, but her response was dismissive. I stated I would report her to the owners, to which she replied they were no longer owned by the Rainoseks. I remarked that this explained the poor quality of the food. So I came here to see what all the hype was about, tons of people mention the huge lines for these breakfast burritos at golden pride. Sure enough there was a line 2 blocks long when I got there. I thought, gosh this must be the best thing ever. I placed my order and surprisingly the breakfast burrito was only like $3, that was my first clue that it may not be the best burrito I've ever had but I still had hope that it would be a good experience. After 30 minutes in line, I got my $3 burrito, and took a bite, it was cold, cheese melted , and kind of tasted like nothing. The cold part was the worst aspect about it. When I went home I microwaved it, and at least the cheese was melted so it was a little better, but I'll put it this way; there are better burritos at Taco Bell. read more

Today 5/1/26 I went to Golden Pride on Central NW, I ordered my usual #9 burrito and a drink. I was really hungry, looking forward to a #9.. I've been a loyal customer since the 80's. There are no words to describe how disappointed and how horrible that burrito was. 1. COLD 2. hash browns that I'm sure were sitting there since probably the morning ( I was there at 1:45pm) 3. cold pieces of random cheese ( not melted because the burrito was COLD) 4. bits and pieces of cold green chili. 5. eggs??.. cold and hardly any. 6. bits and pieces of cold bacon. the tortilla.. cold. The drink was fine. The lady at the window needs to slow down, she was pure nervous energy. I won't be back for a while, maybe I will try it again sometime in the future. When the food's good, it's very good but it's very very inconsistent. I just came home with basically three fried bones with a sliver of meat on them. The service was subpar. I had to wait quite a while at the speaker of the drive through. Then when I got to the pay booth, I was met with a giggling couple that were weren't very helpful. I get large packs of 10- 20 pieces each time I visit Golden Pride. The restaurant in Central NE regularly sends me home with one less piece. If I order 20 pieces, I feel jipped getting only 19. Many go to the drive-through for all day breakfast burritos. I don't see the drive to wait in the long line but I can speak to the sit-down location. The fried chicken is as good as it gets in ABQ havubg a clean crisp breading and large pieces. The ribs have a nice pink layer with smokey flavor and tender, meaty texture you want in bbq. The sides are good as well. I enjoy Texas bbq and travel to Lockhart TX from time to time. So the 4 stars is a "relative to others bbq joints in town", only. I probably won't ever order another breakfast burrito from GP. They used to be so good, THE BEST in the city. The last couple of times they were not very good. The bacon is so very thin it's hardly noticeable. The hashbrowns are only lukewarm at best and very dry. Since they were not great last visit, I did open them up before eating. The eggs were dry and seemed to have been sitting in a warmer. My partner had the 2 piece chicken dinner. I specifically asked for a keg and thigh. The employee repeated it back. I unfortunately got a thigh and wing attached to half breast. He CANNOT EAT white meat. We will not return for a long time before we decide to give them another chance. We get breakfast burritos from here and they are delicious the green chilli is always good . I get the one with bacon so good . We also get the three piece chicken with sides . The food is great and not expensive . There is always a line of cars but I never have to wait too long and the servers are friendly. This is my wife and I's go to every so often, we gotta have our fix at least once every two months! We love the rib plates, the chicken nuggets, the coleslaw and absolutely love the spicy beans and seasoned fries! I myself am also fond of their tacos, either chicken or beef and the fried chicken is super crispy and super juicy. All of the food here is flavorful and bold tasting. I love their breakfast burritos and telling by the line of cars for drive through so do many others. We do know they freeze well and since we live in California I ordered a couple dozen. My cooler will be full of NM frozen treats like green Chile and these hearty and nicely balanced burritos. We love the #1 with the egg, green Chile, shredded hash browns and cheddar cheese. We tried the Green Chile Stew with perfectly done pieces of potato and ground beef with savory green Chile. I also bought a small red Chile pozole with flour tortillas. Quite possibly the best breakfast burrito I have ever tried. On my weekend trip to Albuquerque, we started the food tour of the city with a quick stop at Golden Pride in the morning. Their breakfast burritos are the perfect size for a light meal/hefty snack. I tried their #2 burrito, which came with carne adovada, hash browns, scrambled egg, and cheese. It sounds rich, but with the portion sizes of their breakfast burritos, it was the perfect punch of flavor. I think what really sealed the deal was the soft tortilla they used -- I don't know what sort of dark magic they used in that drive thru but the tortilla was so incredibly fluffy and light. The prices are incredible for the experience that they offer. My friend and I each got one burrito, and our total came out to ~$6. As a California native, these prices were mindboggling. Visited on Dec 6, 2020, only open for take out (due to Covid-19 restriction) so this place opens for drive thru only with no advanced phone in order. Fast service and good food with great price. Fried chicken, lightly bread, perfectly crisped! Lean ribs. Coleslaw practically KFC's best coleslaw. Mac and cheese good for fast food.
