Golden Pride is an Albuquerque staple! You absolutely cannot go wrong with a number nine. Trust me, after you have this burrito, there's no need to try another. It's egg, bacon, potato, cheese, and of course green chile all wrapped up in their awesome tortilla. Crazy delicious, and you're crazy if you think you'll only eat one. Also worth mentioning is the green chile stew. Authentic and amazing, and best enjoyed alongside a number nine! Went to Golden Pride after living out if state for many years. I ordered 6 pack of chicken tacos, a 2 pc. Chicken fried chicken combo, large fries and 2 large drinks....when I found that they didn't have sweet tea I changed the drinks to regular size. I repeated the order back to the person taking the order 3 times and paid almost 16.00 dollars. By the time we got home 45 minutes later I opened the bag and No tacos. I checked the receipt and we were not even charged for them. We were also charged for 2 large drinks after I had changed them to a regular size. I called the location and got the some woman claiming to be the manager and was told that I should have checked the order before I left the drive thru. I honestly felt I should not have had to check the order as I had gone over it 3 times with the person taking it. Didn't help that their order screen showed nothing and looked like it was disconnected. I will NEVER go back to Golden Pride's Central location again and may not ever go back at all. Would go to Frontier or Popeye's long before I would go to them. read more

OH MYY GOTTTTSSSS! This place is really awesome. It is a staple of breakfast burrito goodness everytime I am in Albuquerque. There is nothing like a fresh potato, bacon, and green chile burrito in the morning. I have not tried any other food items here or went into the actual restaraunt, but if they are anything like this burrito then we are all better for it! My family got me hooked on these burritos a few years back and now I am hooked on them. They are really fresh and your order comes quick, even when i am ordering like 20 burritos for my family and I all at once, ok actually they are all for me, but please dont tell anyone. Golden Pride is right off Central and the drive thru is easily accessed. Like I said before they make these bad boys quick so there is little wait time. The staff is really nice and accomodating, even when i ask for no cheese, no egg, and extra green chile! Overall this place is pretty much the best spot I ahve found anywhere for my morning burritos. They could be open inside or for carry out but they are not. 18 car wait in the drive thru on a Tuesday?? The food is barely passable. Very greasy with just about all dishes but especially the bacon breakfast burrito. Always has been even before Corona. I will say that pre-COVID the ladies at the front counter were expedient but for the quality of food, it's gonna have to be a definite pass. Too many other restaurants to choose from. I drive past a churches and a KFC to get to this restaurant for their fried chicken. I'll see one or two cars in their drive thrus. There's always 10-20 in golden pride's line. That right there pretty much tells you everything you need to know, but that won't stop me from rambling on for a while. I probably eat here once a week. OK, twice a week don't judge me. I love fried chicken, and they have some of the best. Because I eat here so often, I know that every once in a while the meat is a little dry, or maybe not piping hot. But most of the time everything is delicious. And probably 49 times out of 50 they get my order exactly right. Including a fresh lemon in my diet Dr Pepper, and two legs instead of two thighs. The women at the drive-through are sincerely kind and very hard-working. I always receive impeccable service. Thank you golden pride, please never change, or I might starve to death. I honestly don't understand what everyone sees in this restaurant! The fried chicken tastes like any plain flavorless chicken, very greasy as well. Nothing at all to get excited about. And the mashed potatoes were very bland, at least KFC has a nice flavor. The Mac & Cheese was ok. Honestly I'd rather have a fried chicken meal from the Walmart Deli, it would've tasted better. Went on Saturday 10/16/2021 and even though the cashier repeated our order back to us, she didn't ring up our 6 pack of tacos, how is that possible? It was the last thing we ordered too. And we checked the bags and no tacos. Some guy wanted the bags back so they could check them. I've always been told once the food leaves the drive thru window they can't take it back. I usually come here for their breakfast burritos, but today I tried their bbq chicken and ribs.... they were bomb.com, the meat was moist and seasoned well. The smoke was a little milder I think it was oak... the skin on the chicken taste like bacon. The portion was good, I got the 4 piece which could have fed two people. I was told I had to try this place and order the #9. So, as I was driving around Albuquerque I saw this place and decided to go through the drive-thru. The number 9 is a breakfast burrito with egg, hashbrowns, cheese, bacon and green chilies (Though I also encountered red chilies). It was super good, everything was mushy - in a good way, and the bacon cooked perfectly. The service was quick, friendly, and efficient. My burrito was about $5, a little steep as compared to other burrito offerings. Though, it's completely worth it. I'll be back for more. read more

For those uninitiated, that's eggs, bacon, hash browns, green chile and cheddar cheese. Heaven. An Albuquerque original. It's made to order in minutes, and you can safely munch while driving. And these people don't back down on spice: the chile is stupid hot, green and orange and red and fabulous. The glory of their business model is the to-go lane, especially at this location. At Golden Pride, especially on a Saturday morning, it ain't enough to get in the to-go lane on the other side of the building, nah ah. When you pull up you'll see the line stretching back nearly a block, easy, and you'll have to get in line way, waaaay back. And you'll ask yourself whether it's worth the wait. And then all of a sudden you'll see some kid with a clipboard and a headset walking up to your car and asking for your order. And the line will be moving. And next thing you know, ca-blammo, you're at the front window paying for your massive paper bag of goodies, the scent and warmth wafting through the car, and typically the woman on the other side of the window will send you off with a smile and a few words like, "You have a nice day, hon." Best fried chicken I've EVER had! When you first walk in, you may think to yourself..."what a dump". And yes, it is in DIRE need of an update. But good food is good food, right? When we went last night, the place was hopping. There was a guy behind the counter trimming and breading the chicken.....fresh and made to order. I ordered a 2 pc white w/ cole slaw and mashed potatoes. The pieces were pretty big.....even the wing. They were so hot, juicy and chock a bock full of flavor I could jump for joy! (I swear I'm salivating just remembering!!) The cole slaw was excellent! The mashed potatoes were okay....kind of like school cafeteria style though but still yummy. My hubby ordered the ribs and he let me have a taste. OMG! Soooooo smokey, tender and moist! FABULOUS! And I don't normally care for ribs. BBQ sauce was great as well. We also ordered a beef taco to share and even that was pretty good........and honestly, better than the taco I got from Sadies (with an $8 price difference). They also have fresh brewed iced tea....yeah! We ended our meal w/a frontier roll....the only disappointment to the meal. I don't think it was fresh....it was tough, like it was days old. Not the frontier roll I remember from my days at UNM. I'd take off 1/2 a star if I could for that. I haven't tried their breakfast burritos yet, which are available all day. We came to the Golden Palace because of all the good reviews on Yelp and we were not disappointed, the burritos are excellent! Lots of choices, the staff is wonderful. They have a no tipping policy, which is unfortunate, when people provide good service, you want to tip them. We will definitely return to try out their ribs for dinner! read more

It's funny that BBQ Chicken and Ribs are in the name. I've never had either here. What I come for, and why it gets 5 stars, is the breakfast burritos. In my opinion there is simply no better quick hand-held breakfast burrito in town. I'll let you argue about sit down plated breakfast burritos, but go through the drive-thru for a Golden Pride burrito and you'll be set. I know I'm not alone either. You can drive up any morning and the line of cars wraps around the building and out into the street. The service is so amazing that no matter how long I've seen the line I've never been waiting more than a few minutes. They're pushing burritos out the window as fast people can pull up. My favorite is the #11 and though I'm tempted to buy two, one is enough to fill you. My other favorite is their green chile stew when I'm sick. It comes with a couple of their fresh tortillas and clears up any sinus problems in no time. Better than chicken soup for a head cold any day! read more

Fist time here was a little hesitant about ordering a burrito hence the name Golden Pride. But this is my second time here and my forth time eating from this establishment. The Green chile burritos are cheap and are very delicious. I have also tried the carne adovada burritos and fried chicken. I was very impressed with all the food I have been eating here. If there is one complaint it would be the parking is small and the drive thru line is long during normal lunch and dinner hours. But love the fact that there is a drive-thru option available. There is also a vegetarian small menu section for those who do not eat meat. Not to mention the girls working the register are always super friendly. Driving aimlessly down Central on a windy Saturday afternoon, I had spotted Golden Pride which I had read about on here before. Still in search of the best breakfast burrito, I went through the drive-through and ordered the #1 (eggs, hash browns, cheese and green Chile). Although it was clearly an improvement over Twisters, it still had that taco Bellish quality. Looks like I might need to actually sit down somewhere to find the best. It needed more green chile and it is perfect for someone who is in a hurry, but not quite at top level staus. Very cheap at under 3 bucks and then I added a $1.25 corn on the cob. Nice touch with the stick in the corn and this was a good choice as a side dish. Will be back to try BBQ chicken I think, but the breakfast burros seem to be most popular despite the name. read more
