Very down to earth ambiance, tables and bar are under a large Tiki Hut and there's live entertainment on the weekends. Great spot for simple seafood, although they do offer other options. Service can be slow if it's very busy, but servers are friendly and attentive.

For my birthday I went to lunch with my family at Golden Rule. It is one of my favorite places for lunch! It never disappoints! We ordered a pitcher of beer and then our entrees deciding to skip an appetizer this time. I always order the Caribbean Fried Conch, and my boyfriend decided to try something new and ordered the Shrimp and Oyster PoBoy. The Fried Conch is so fresh and when the lemon is added it is perfect. It's always cooked perfectly and not excessively chewy. It is my go to entree, every now and then I try to mix it up a bit though. But not today! My boyfriend really enjoyed his Shrimp and Oyster PoBoy he said it was delicious! Everything was fresh and it was not greasy which was great! It was a big meal as well! We will definitely keep coming back to Golden Rule! It's a great spot for lunch with the family! The ambiance is very relaxing, sitting under the tiki hut with all of the greenery provided from the plants. Overall, the service was great and the food was delicious as always!

I love Golden Rule. It's a nice place to sit down have a drink and some good food. Last week for the first time we decided to order take out and not eat in the restaurant and it really disappointed. The bang bang shrimp dish was sloppily put together and the portion for the price was not worth it. The fish and fries were ok. The Greek salad again seemed sloppy and just thrown together with no care. It was a normal salad but swimming in dressing. The taste was just ok on all dishes. Honestly it was not worth what we paid.

Visited Golden Rule on a Saturday evening and waited about 15 minutes for a table outside. They had such a good atmosphere going on with the live band that it was worth the wait to sit outside instead of inside. I ordered the shrimp and grits as my entree. It was so delicious. The sauce with the bacon went well with the shrimp. I also ordered a mojito that went perfectly with the vibes of the restaurant. Really looking forward to visiting again. I'd probably order the same thing it was that good!

Came here with the fam on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy! We sat outside and it was nice and cool with the fans. Our server was Don and he was so attentive and friendly. To start we ordered raw oysters and the blackened seared tuna. The oysters (even the small ones) were HUGE! Idk where they source them from but omg they were massive -- yum! The seared tuna was also delicious. The seasoning was just top notch it had great flavor. As my meal I ordered the Greek salad with blackened salmon on top. The portion was great and the salmon was delicious, a nice big fillet. My parents are big fans of the mahi Reuben and they said it was delish as always. My sister ordered the Cajun shrimp and grits. She loved it and I tried it and i agree it was fantastic. It's a heavy meal don't get me wrong but the flavors are delicious. Everything rocked here I can't wait to come back, great seafood spot!

Love the vibe! Outdoor seating under a tiki hut with beautiful plants and a koi pond surrounding. Service was a little slow but was very friendly and informative. The lobster bisque was great! I loved the Drunken Debbie salad, full of flavor and the Champaign vinaigrette was light and flavorful. My bf's grouper sandwich was delicious and fresh. The "bow" buns were good but small on the shrimp portion. I will definitely return!

Miami staple! First time paying a visit and truly had a memorable experience. The vintage vibes in the market felt nostalgic! The service was great and the owner Courtney was very pleasant. Don't miss out on the cities best crab cakes and by far the best conch fritters in town! Our party got to enjoy the honey glazed salmon, shrimp scampi, shrimp and grits and the Cajun Alfredo with chicken! No dish disappointed! Can't wait to visit again and appreciate that although it's known for seafood they have a variety for the meat eaters!

First time visiting. Almost sat inside where there is also a market with various items. I told the host it was our first time and she said, "In that case follow me." She led us outside where there is a Tiki hut surrounded by different green plants and trees. Place was full with the exception of two tables. Started with 2 Mojitos, one classic and one coconut. Both on point! Our waitress, Kelly, gave us a few suggestions. We chose to order the conch fritters which were the best we've had in a long time. My wife had the Lemon butter snapper with broccoli and sweet potato mash. She said it was very good. I had the Cajun shrimp and grits that I'm definitely going back to have again. Big flavor, small pieces of sausage, just the right portion. Nice size shrimp. Finished with a slice of Guava cheesecake that we had to order. I could eat that everyday and twice on Sunday! Felt like we were in the Keys, excellent service by Kelly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great spot to eat drink and chill. Gives a key west vibe with the bar and outdoor setup. The live music was great heard some Jack Johnson hits while drinking some good brews. Really enjoyed the food as well as my group. My blackened snapper tacos with mango slaw and the brownie skillet for dessert were so damn good. The lemon butter snapper was delicious as well. Service was not bad, it was like a 15min wait for a table on Saturday at 6:30. We just waited at the bar and were seated in like 10 mins. Really cool inside seafood market as well. Highly recommend and will be coming back

I had heard this place recommended many times, and I drive by it almost daily. But it's sort of inauspicious location and knowing it's also a fish market had me questioning if it would be a good restaurant. We decided to try it out today and took my MIL. It was a great as everyone said it was! The ambiance was casual and relaxed and like we were on vacation somewhere. I saw a review that compared it to the Keys and o have to agree. You'd never realize you're sitting on U.S. 1 in Cutler Bay lol. The outdoor seating was under a tiki hut type roof. There were plenty of tables, and it was surrounded by island-y trees. There was a nice long bar on one end of the dining area with two tv's. I will say I would only recommend outdoor seating. The inside restaurant was not that nice and smelled slightly fishy, considering it's right next to the market. But no one was actually sitting there. The outdoor area also had lots of fans, so it felt nice even though it was about 4 pm. And side note, the bathroom (which is inside) was nice and clean which is always a perk!) The food was delicious!! The menu was bigger than I expected, and there were so many tempting choices. We started with the fish dip. It tasted slightly fishier than some I've had at other places, but it was still good. Then I had a cup of lobster bisque which was so flavorful. (This was all soup, no chunks of meat). My main meal was the tacos (blackened Mahi, tiki taco style), and these were perfectly flavored, and the combination of fillings was amazing. Love that it had goat cheese. My husband had the lobster grilled cheese which he was happy with, and my MIL had the Lobster Roll which she said was really good. Our server was really friendly and attentive. The only complaint I had about this restaurant was that it was a little confusing to figure out where to enter for the restaurant. This might partly be bc we had to park on the street in the side. My husband saw a sign that said Restaurant across the gravel parking area so we walked in there. And we walked into what appeared to be a private party area and stood there, but no one acknowledged or helped us. So we walked through and found the main dining area, but even there we were confused about what to do/ where to go and no one helped us. We had to ask someone waking by, and we were told to sit anywhere. We later realized there was a more "main" entrance to this dining area from the U.S. 1 side on the far right (far end of walking from the parking lot). More signs and better guidance from servers/ hosts would have been great. But we were otherwise happy. We'll definitely be back!

This is a lovely outdoor restaurant with a chiki hut style roof. Multiple fans keep the large area pleasant. The surrounding foliage acts as a wall giving the place a tropical beach vibe. I love it. We had reservations and arrived on time to be seated immediately. Service was spectacular! Drinks were on the small side but at 10 bucks for a martini no one's complaining For appetizers we opted for the fried oysters (yum) and the ceviche (meh). For the entree I had the whole fried snapper. It was on the small side and needed a bit more seasoning, but I would still order it again. It came with a garlic mash and broccolini which unfortunately were cold. My husband has the lobster stuffed with crab which looked delicious and was according to him. The sautéed snapper looked absolutely incredible sautéed in a lemony caper sauce. Dessert was key lime pie (very good). And molten brownie with ice cream which was good but the smallest ever. I super enjoyed this place. For the food, the wonderful service, and the laid back tropical ambience.

Instead, we were sat at the smallest bar seating, which was completely inappropriate and not romantic at all for an occasion like Valentine's Day. As soon as we sat down, I politely asked if we could be moved. The manager then told me that I had booked bar seating, which is simply not true. Why would anyone reserve bar seating a month in advance for Valentine's Day? I checked my reservation confirmation myself and it never stated that, and I even tried making another reservation to verify ..bar seating wasn't even an option. He told us he would "see what he could do," and we were left waiting at the bar with no water, no menus, no service, and no communication whatsoever. Meanwhile, we watched multiple couples get seated at proper tables back-to-back. At one point, we even overheard another couple say their reservation was at the same time as ours, and they were seated at a table immediately. When I tried to politely ask for an update, the manager or owner completely ignored me. No acknowledgment, no apology, nothing. I was honestly in shock at how disrespectful and dismissive they were. We ended up getting up and leaving because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt. Valentine's Day is supposed to be special, and this restaurant completely ruined that experience.

As others have stated, Magie is good in concept and we'll likely return here, but with just a bit…read moremore effort on their part this wine bar could be so much better IMO. Unlike some other reviewers that scoffed at the prices of the wine, that didn't bother me so much. We had a bottle here that cost $55 and it retails for about $28; I was OK with that, as all restaurants and wine bars have a markup above retail, and even when you go to spots like Happy Wine or El Carajo and pick out a bottle to drink while in their shop, they charge a corkage fee for that. What I did have a problem with is that, after the "service charge" and other fees were added on, our $55 bottle rang up to more than $73 in total, which was ludicrous. When we first arrived at Magie we were met by a young guy who pointed out the bottles and where the various charcuterie items are located in the coolers, and we were then pretty much left on our own. We really just wanted a glass of wine each, but unlike places like Vinoteca, here at Magie they had a very limited selection of wines by the glass, and the ones available all seemed to come in single-serve cans. We picked out a bottle to share, went to the register, paid and the guy opened it and handed us 2 glasses. When I returned to get napkins, the guy just motioned to where the napkins were so I could grab my own (after moving a delivery cart out of the way by myself so I could reach them). Again, though this place includes an automatic "service charge", we received zero actual "service" unless one considers the 45 seconds it takes to uncork our bottle and charge us for the purchase. We had a seat, had a glass of wine each and then re-corked our bottle of wine and took it with us. Overall I think Magie is a great concept with lots of potential. The inside seating area is interestingly decorated and outfitted with lots of eclectic furniture and items on the walls, and the relatively large patio seating out front with tables for 2 to 8 people is shielded from the adjacent street/traffic and shaded by lots of trees and greenery. The ambiance overall is really very nice. The service, however, was non-existent, especially considering the automatic charge for that, and while prices of at least some wines aren't terribly out of line, the fact that all the service charges, taxes and fees added $20 to the cost of our bottle was a bit of a shocker. Magie should consider adding more wines by the glass IMO. Not just subpar quality single-serve cans, but decent wines, poured from a proper bottle with a topper that preserves the wine between pours like most every quality wine bar commonly offers. Lastly, while I don't think anyone expects linen napkins and white glove service, the paper plates and plastic cutlery customers are given to eat with are a bit off vs. what this place appears to be trying to be and the prices charged. The "F*ck Brunch" positioning statement on the back of the staffs' shirts was an interesting touch.

The first location in the River is better imo because the location is bigger, there is plenty more seating than the Grove location. Although, I still enjoyed my time at this location as well. Sooo how it works is that you go inside and pick a bottle of wine from the fridges. You can also order by the glass if you aren't a big drinker or if you want to try different wines. The bottles are moderately priced depending on your selection. We chose an orange wine and it was nice, very refreshing, you can really get that citrus essence with every sip. Another thing that they have is that you can pick different cheeses and meats and they will build you a charcuterie board. I love this because it is all based on your selection, nothing will go to waste. They also have food you can order. A lot of people love the nuggets with caviar. I think they are decent imo but I'm not like in love with them. Parking can be a bit annoying... If there isn't street parking, you can also park in the garage. The service was good, the staff was friendly. The only thing that was a hassle was getting a table. We had to wait a bit in order for a table to become available. Overall, this spot is a very cozy place to hang and mingle with friends.
