I took a chance and I couldn't be happier. Marion is a very experienced colorist. I showed her a picture of a very light shade of blonde hair with highlights and lowlights. She explained to me the pros and cons of all options to achieve that exact color. My hair came out beautifully!!! I've been to many salons in my 30 years of having blonde hair and can honestly say that this color is one of the best.. Golden scissors is a clean, quiet salon tucked away in an indescript shopping center in peekskill. Marian is kind, low key and gives a great head massage. Since I'm absolutely terrible at doing my hair, I came in for stylized blow out in hopes of looking svelte and ladylike (unlike my daily appearance). I showed a picture and was wisked away to the washing station. I was told what I wanted necessitated a curling iron. Okay, no problem. When I initially called and booked my appointment, I asked about a blowout with curls. I wanted the wavy, glam hair you see on movie stars and girls that can spend 2 hours in the bathroom doing their hair. I was told over the phone the blowout is $25 and extra for curls. When I was rung up, that extra ended up being another $30... making the total $55 plus tip. I was suprised, but being naturally unconfrontational, I shut up and paid because while it wasn't a completely unreasonable price, it wasn't what I thought it would be. I had a minor coniption about two hours prior to the wedding I was attending because my hair loosed and started going flat. Despite my keratin treatments, I normally have wavy hair. At that point it wasnt looking much different from what I would have taken out of a bun any day after work. I played and sprayed as much as I could in the hotel room. It ended up looking, well, wavyish and ok. After the 3rd drink at the party I sort of just forgot about the entire ordeal. Marion has been a life saver for my hair. In my lifetime I have never been able to find a hairdresser that took so much interest and care to help restore my hair to a condition that was so health and shinny. One good thing about breaking my arm in August of 2015 it forced me to go to a salon for my wash and blow dry.. My arm has healed but still continue to go weekly to Golden Scissors. Marion cuts ,colors and blow dries my hair now. I trust her advice and years of experience. As we all know hair salons and hair dressers are a dime a dozen. I had gone to many hair salons and was never overly thrilled until I went to Golden Scissors. Mariann is super nice and so is the other hair stylist (I forgot her name). They massage your head while washing your hair and they really listen to what you want and do an excellent job! The prices are lower than the big named salons in the area and I think they do a better job than them. I've gotten highlights there also and was very happy. read more

Mariann is so friendly and good with curly hair! I often stop people with curly hair to ask who cuts their hair and when one of the girls at work told me this was her hairdresser, I decided to try her. Love the location of the salon with its easy parking too. The salon is huge and airy and clean which I loved right away. Mariann was very friendly and sat me down to ask what I wanted, made suggestions and did a nice job. The first time I went she gave me a blow out style that lasted 4 days! I've since been back for highlights and keratin. Nice job on both! She uses the Rejuvenol keratin versus Salerm which is a bit easier on your hair and can be washed sooner. read more

Marian is fantastic!! Seriously, I walked in a hot mess and she took the time to thoroughly go over all my hair options and what would be my best look with my face and features. I can't say enough about her and the full service salon. Always professional, always clean and I know I will receive the best hair style, color, and care. Spacious, clean & nicely decorated salon. Plenty of parking out front with no need to feed the meter. The owner Maryann was pleasant & listened carefully to what I wanted done. This was my first time there and I was pleased with the cut & styling. The price was less than I usually pay at a downtown salon.
