I have been a guest for 30 years, first at the Heights location and then the newer restaurant north of there. I still find it my favorite place for a well cooked, tasty, hot seafood dinner at an affordable price for a retiree and large families. The fried fish, oyster, and shrimp platter with shrimp fried rice is perfectly cooked with thin tasty battering and the shrimp and oysters are just right. The fish is solid white catfish. This was the first restaurant I ate at in Houston when we moved here in 1997, and it has remained a favorite. Who knew that Mexican seafood and Chinese fried rice were the perfect combination? Prices are a bargain for what you get; the fried seafood is tasty and not greasy, oysters are cheap and good, and they have my favorite ceviche - lots of vinegar. As Airline slowly gentrifies, let's hope this place, along with Tampico and Connie's, persist. Such amazing food and service!!! We came during lunch time on a Saturday and we were seated very quickly (party of 4) and the whole place was busy, parking lot full flowing over into the gravel parking. We brought my parents who love seafood and they were blown away by the great prices that they had. Not only are the prices good but the portions are crazy as well! You could've made 2-3 meals off of a plate if you wanted to. My husband hates seafood but he will eat their fried catfish and only theirs. There is plenty of seating inside and it has a nice feel to it. Very welcoming. And the service was great. Our server was so nice. We want to bring our whole family Back because of the experience and for those that don't like seafood they have delicious salads, burgers, chicken and steak options. The joy of eating good food is one of the few pleasures Covid hasn't taken from me. I haven't been here in years but the ceviche is every bit as good as I remembered. Get the large! It's super citrusy and lime-y and chock full of shrimp and fish. The only drawback of the takeout ceviche from here is that they can only give you crackers rather than tortilla chips. Scoop some ceviche on a salty chip and top with a dollop of Cholula. YUM. Wash it down with a to go Michelada and call it a day. The curbside service is EXTREMELY efficient and quick. I called ahead and placed my order and pulled up. A masked waitress immediately zoomed to my car and went inside to grab our food. I liked the fried shrimp and rice but the fish was a dud for me. I went to pick up an order. I witnessed very poor service from the manager of Golden Sea Food. Apparently, a customer had a cockroach in his drink. First of all, at no time did I see any kind of apology from the manager for what happened. What a lack of professionalism in not understanding the bad time that this family went through after finding a cockroach . Maybe because they were Hispanic they treated them that way and charged them the full amount. At no time did these people ask for anything for free, for me the fair thing would have been not to charge the affected person for the food. read more

My first time in this place it was horrible. They told us to wait for 30 mins with end up waiting for over an hour. The hostess in the front were kids playing around talking. Then when we finally got a table the waiter was all around the place. Then another waiter came to our table. And they got all confused with our order. This is our first time here. First walk in , greet us and take us to a table right away ; give us the menu , when I first stare At the menu : it's bright, clear , and contains the pictures of some signature dishes; prices are reasonable. The waitress come next( the lady who's pregnant and her sister)- very nice ladies , smile , give suggestions and take our orders ; food come out quick even though it's so packed and busy. All of this section took like 10 mins. When drinks & food come out : they all fresh and nice presentation, and of course very tasty. Our Togo order of house fried rice + veggies is completely out of expectations of my bf : This is a Mexican seafood restaurant, this fried rice is bomb it taste exactly like a Chinese chef fried rice! Whoever made this fried rice for the restaurant they needs to keep him and pay him well. We will definitely come back soon to try other dishes. This place is mediocre. I barely even touched my food because the chicken fried rice didn't have any flavor. The service was fairly slow. Parking lot structure is horrible- definitely needs to be reconstructed. The waitress didn't show any kind of emotion- she was just there to be there. To top it off, when I received my ticket- I noticed they had suggested gratitude added to my to go order. I'm okay with an suggested gratitude, but for them to add it to my total was a no no! I always tip, but to add it already is not okay. Then the waitress came back with my recipe to add MORE tip. (Caldo de mariscos) Spicy, big portion, lots of seafood and veggies in it. Don't come here expecting an amazing culinary experience. It's the equivalent of a simple taqueria. Simple quick dishes. This was the first time here for me. I first look at all the reviews and was not sure about the place. My co worker said he has been here a few times before with no problem. The food was better than the reviews were saying and my waitress was really nice. The server took our order fast and get our drink in a timely manner. I was here during lunchtime and it was busy as well. I would recommend coming to this place hands down. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp with jalapeño chicken. The beer is ice cold and fresh. The food prices are also reasonable and for a good amount. Most importantly, CLEAN RESTROOMS!! Service was great when I was here and the staff was really friendly. Food Roulette. used to come here a couple times per month since it's close to home and cheap. It's seat yourself and it would take forever for me and my daughter to get a server. I'd watch other people come in after us and get helped before us but my daughter loves their fried shrimp. Eventually I got really bad food poisoning from eating there and haven't been back since. I guess it was bound to happen. Food really isn't that great, it's just that the prices are. I guess steer clear of their tartar sauce or anything that can go bad easily if it's not stored properly. The food poisoning I got here was awful. Not just vomiting and diarrhea, but a fever and chills, and it lasted 3 days and then I had a sensitive stomach for another week.
