Catfish & oysters (top. I'll just get the fish next time) and fried shrimp (also very good). Delicious fries

3.5 stars. Food is pretty good (typical fried seafood), and it's an amazing value for the price. Always cold in here, though (bring a jacket). Catfish (2) & oyster (6) platter $10.95 - the fried catfish had a really good crispy batter. Oysters were big but fishy. Probably just get the fish next time. One fish is pretty big. We shared the platter. Fried shrimp (9) $7.95 - big size and crispy. Bf's favorite. Fried rice is okay, a little bland, but I like the variety. Fries are very good. Good seasoning and crispy. Margaritas $4.50 - 2 for my bf may have been 1 too many. Haha. He liked it. Mango tasted very fresh.

Such amazing food and service!!! We came during lunch time on a Saturday and we were seated very quickly (party of 4) and the whole place was busy, parking lot full flowing over into the gravel parking. We brought my parents who love seafood and they were blown away by the great prices that they had. Not only are the prices good but the portions are crazy as well! You could've made 2-3 meals off of a plate if you wanted to. My husband hates seafood but he will eat their fried catfish and only theirs. There is plenty of seating inside and it has a nice feel to it. Very welcoming. And the service was great. Our server was so nice. We want to bring our whole family Back because of the experience and for those that don't like seafood they have delicious salads, burgers, chicken and steak options. Definitely looking forward to going back and sharing this gem with my family.

The joy of eating good food is one of the few pleasures Covid hasn't taken from me. I haven't been here in years but the ceviche is every bit as good as I remembered. Get the large! It's super citrusy and lime-y and chock full of shrimp and fish. The only drawback of the takeout ceviche from here is that they can only give you crackers rather than tortilla chips. Scoop some ceviche on a salty chip and top with a dollop of Cholula. YUM. Wash it down with a to go Michelada and call it a day. The curbside service is EXTREMELY efficient and quick. I called ahead and placed my order and pulled up. A masked waitress immediately zoomed to my car and went inside to grab our food. I liked the fried shrimp and rice but the fish was a dud for me. Will return for ceviche and all the other fried things, though!

Don't take it the wrong way, it's to improve the service. I wonder why a fish soup has to be so spicy in Golden seafood ? It is impossible for many customers to be able to swallow a soup with this magnitude of spiciness , definitely a child could have certain problems in his mouth just trying such a soup, I suggest that each customer add spiciness to the taste of their palate

This is our first time here. First walk in , greet us and take us to a table right away ; give us the menu , when I first stare At the menu : it's bright, clear , and contains the pictures of some signature dishes; prices are reasonable. The waitress come next( the lady who's pregnant and her sister)- very nice ladies , smile , give suggestions and take our orders ; food come out quick even though it's so packed and busy. All of this section took like 10 mins. When drinks & food come out : they all fresh and nice presentation, and of course very tasty. Our Togo order of house fried rice + veggies is completely out of expectations of my bf : This is a Mexican seafood restaurant, this fried rice is bomb it taste exactly like a Chinese chef fried rice! Whoever made this fried rice for the restaurant they needs to keep him and pay him well. We will definitely come back soon to try other dishes. Overall experience of guests service and food : amazing! Thank You so much for keeping up the great work!

I wasn't too impressed the first time, and this visit certainly confirmed my initial thoughts. For La Lucha's Happy Hour, you get a choice between 2 types of oysters ($1.50 each). These were great - do this on a weekday before 6pm and you should be able to grab a table without a reservation. Barely even after we started eating the oysters, the waitress was already asking if we wanted to order more, instead of allowing us to just enjoy our food without interruptions. The menus they gave at our table were inconsistent and had different menu items. I had to ask for clarification if the redfish was on the menu since it wasn't on two of the three menus given to us. So, quality control was a miss. Rest of the menu... is limited. Everything was so greasy, from the fried chicken, the redfish, and shrimp tacos. * Red fish with pecans - 6/10. The fish did not taste like it was seasoned with salt. It was well cooked, not dry at all, but it lacked any sort of seasoning aside from the butter and pecans on top. * Shrimp Tacos - 4/10. I think I prefer Taco Bell over this one. The shell was greasy, not crisp (felt like it was stale), and I was confused with the combination of American Cheese and shrimp. They also added hot sauce or spicy salsa in the tacos - so a warning if you can't handle spice (not mentioned on the menu). * Half Fried Chicken - 5/10. The chicken was moist. Been here once before and it was quite dry, so I'm glad this was cooked well. You get 2 thighs, a wing, and a drumstick (4pc). Again, there was a lack of any seasoning on the chicken itself & the exterior. Sadly, the sauce that we picked was not the best either - oyster mayo. It would've been nice to try the others, but the half order came with one sauce. The seasonal jam that was available was the peach jam. It went well with the biscuits (half order comes with 2 biscuits, any extra is $1.50). For my people who get cold in restaurants, I would recommend bringing a light jacket since they turn the A/C up.

Every time my parents come to visit they request to come here! I shop often at the bodega next door (see my review for Granel) and I was starving one day after grabbing all of my spices. I checked this place on Yelp and noticed it's been around for over 40 years. That was good enough for me! Imagine freshly fried fish (corn or flour available!) like you're at the family cookout served with a side of fried rice from your favorite Chinese restaurant! All for less than $15! I order the same combo every time, the two pieces of bass cornmeal battered, 5 shrimp and the fried rice. I'm not a fan of ceviche but my homegirl and her mom ordered it and said it was amazing! The three of us ate for less than $50! Left full and content. If you find yourself in this area and you like fresh fried fish, this place does not miss!!!

The service was great--the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything arrived hot and fresh. As for the food, the seafood is tasty and seasoned perfectly; the fried shrimp and fish had a great crunch, and the shrimp fried rice is a must-try. The best part is that everything is reasonably priced for the generous portions you get. It's a reliable, "no-frills" staple in Houston that stays true to its roots. I'll definitely go back!

Arrived Sunday at noon and we were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Our server was super friendly and helpful since this was our first time eating here. She recommended the lychee lemonade and it did not disappoint. Although my man thought it was too sweet.. I thought it was just right. For starters we ordered hush puppies and seafood gumbo. The hush puppies are really good and I also liked the tartar sauce. When the seafood gumbo came out and it was sat on the table, I smelled a foul odor. It smelled spoiled. I told my man and he said he thought it was the crab, The crab smelt funky. He did tell the server and she told the manager and they removed it from our check. We think maybe the crab was frozen and or spoiled. I ordered The fish and chips. A really good portion and the flavor was good. I did like the fish and french fries. The coleslaw was just okay not my favorite. My man ordered a pound of very spicy black mussels and 2 lb of very spicy live crawfish. The flavor was good. The muscles were a bit too salty for me but the flavor was still good. The restaurant does get pretty lively but they do have plenty of staff. Overall I'll say the service was top-notch but I don't know that I would dine again. If so, I'll definitely get that lychee lemonade and hush puppies again :)
