Seafood gumbo. As soon as it came out it had a foul smell. We believe the crab was bad.

First time here. And I picked this location based on the reviews and for the claim of best seafood boil in Houston. Arrived Sunday at noon and we were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Our server was super friendly and helpful since this was our first time eating here. She recommended the lychee lemonade and it did not disappoint. Although my man thought it was too sweet.. I thought it was just right. For starters we ordered hush puppies and seafood gumbo. The hush puppies are really good and I also liked the tartar sauce. When the seafood gumbo came out and it was sat on the table, I smelled a foul odor. It smelled spoiled. I told my man and he said he thought it was the crab, The crab smelt funky. He did tell the server and she told the manager and they removed it from our check. We think maybe the crab was frozen and or spoiled. I ordered The fish and chips. A really good portion and the flavor was good. I did like the fish and french fries. The coleslaw was just okay not my favorite. My man ordered a pound of very spicy black mussels and 2 lb of very spicy live crawfish. The flavor was good. The muscles were a bit too salty for me but the flavor was still good. The restaurant does get pretty lively but they do have plenty of staff. Overall I'll say the service was top-notch but I don't know that I would dine again. If so, I'll definitely get that lychee lemonade and hush puppies again :)

TL;DR: Get ready to get down and dirty! Love the flavors for each of the boils and don't sleep on the corn and mushrooms! Service was quick and attentive :) Was recommended to stop by Crawfish Cafe for some Viet-Cajun vibes and was not disappointed. We ordered several bags of shrimp (unfortunately not crawfish season), corn, mushrooms, and hot links. On the side, we ordered some crab which was fine but the shrimp boils were definitely the star I am mildly allergic to shrimp and this was totally worth the trip to the store across the street to pick up some Benadryl. Cheers, Crawfish Cafe!

This joint gets busy for a reason: great food, fun atmosphere, and super service. Our server was a sweetheart who provided excellent recommendations. We started with boudin, which was perfectly taut and flavorful. I reckon you would have to go to a gas station in Lafayette to find a better boudin. It was followed by some of the largest and tastiest charbroiled oysters I ever enjoyed. But it was the main event that took my breath away: a 5 lb sack of fresh, sweet, and tongue-tingling crawfish. I may return for seconds tonight!

My wife loves crawfish. So we decided to check this place out and it did not disappoint. The food had great flavor. I enjoyed the sauce on the crawfish boil. The service was good and the staff were friendly. The food comes out pretty quickly. They have indoor seating and an outdoor patio. Definitely worth checking out!

Hands down best viet style crawfish in houston!! I'll also give the shrimp a MASSIVE shoutout. I've never had such fresh, big, and tasty shrimp before, get it! Its worth it! Ive come here once before maybe 6 years ago and they got a new restaurant, the environment is great, service is fast and warm, food is fresh and delicious! They have so many flavors and i tried the (forgot the name) most popular one, it was a mix and i also got the thai flavor as well. Surprisingly, the thai flavored bowl was the best in my opinion but you truly cant go wrong. Man am i still thinking about this meallllll!!! Till next year, crawfish cafe!

The Bellaire location is under renovations right now, so we decided to drive further to give this spot a try. My experience was solid, the service was good the food was exceptional & the restaurant is pretty clean itself. I was craving crawfish & it's my first time having it for 2026. Crawfish is on the smaller side which is understandable since it's January. We went ahead and ordered their lemon pepper wings to start. It was delicious and came out piping hot. Very strong lemon pepper flavor. Then we went ahead and got 6 pounds of their crawfish. Two pounds of "the mix" (lemon pepper & garlic butter), two pounds of "the grail" (garlic butter & Thai basil) and two pounds of "the signature" (garlic butter & kickin Cajun). Got it as spicy. My favorite is the signature since it had the most flavor but the grail had more of a spice kick. All the sauces were buttery & spicy. However, I felt that they should've let the sauce soak into the crawfish a little longer to give the meat more flavor. Corn, potatoes, sausage & egg were cooked just right. Don't get me wrong, I love me a southern sweet tea but the one I received was beyond sweet. So I switched it out for sprite instead. At the end I ordered their gumbo to go. I thought it was pretty good. It wasn't salty just wish there were more sausages in the gumbo. Overall, I'm satisfied. I prefer the Bellaire location since the food is better but the service on Shepherd is way better. Definitely coming back here when I'm around the area.

Despite the many culinary accolades Houston has to offer, Viet Cajun is one that is practically exclusive to the city. There are numerous stellar options in this fusion cuisine, but Crawfish Cafe has emerged as one of its best local chains, and besting most, If not all of the options in The Heights. The Chinatown location is the one I've frequented the most, but seeing as it's been closed for renovations, it's been more or less this location of nothing. (#1) The parking has been problematic on their busiest nights, sharing the space with several other eateries, so know this ahead of time during their busy lunch and dinner hour. A wait is likely given no reservations, so finding time for parking might not be so bad. The interior is tight but they've done a decent job at maintaining large and small groups despite how busy it gets. I've only come here in large groups, but the feast is guaranteed every time. When crawfish is in season, there is no better place to be. When it comes to the sauces, I am all for the grail mix, which is garlic butter and Thai basil. The coco loco is an excellent sauce as well, and the kickin Cajun most definitely has a nice kick. Other recommended items are their oysters, garlic noodles, boudin balls, and egg rolls. Overall, the service is good but can be tough during their busiest nights. Prices are going to add up since it's seafood, but the experience almost always is going to be worth it. ____________ (#1) There's always Cypress, but I have yet to go.

Came in to try crawfish for the first time, and expected more flavor. I ordered the crawfish and shrimp mix, with the signature seasoning mix and the spicy heat level. The food I got was barely black pepper spicy. The crawfish itself was okay, but I would rather have 3 or 4 bigger ones than the slaughter of little crawfish I got in the bag. Shrimp was good, but still lacked flavor. It's an experience, and the service is friendly but a little slow. They have a nice patio, and the restaurant is very crowded most of the time. Parking is there, but hard to find. Do not park in other lots, you will get towed. Kroger parking is safe across the street.

Service was great! Our server was super nice and helpful! The food came very quick and was delicious! The ambiance is nice, there is indoor and outdoor seating options. My only deterrent is the parking. The parking is very limited and tons of construction surrounding this location but otherwise plenty options on their menu and great food

    Rach K.

Food was actually fresh, and the sauce was really good with great service. However, the parking situation completely ruined the experience. Parking here is extremely difficult and poorly managed. There are very limited parking spaces for this restaurant, and it's nearly impossible to find a spots at all. What makes it worse is that cars get towed aggressively even if you are actively dining. I was inside the restaurant, and my car was towed just minutes before I finished my meal. This creates a frustrating and unfair experience for customers. As someone visiting from California, this feels especially unreasonable and excessive. If you plan to dine here, be very careful with parking -- or you may end up paying $300 something in towing fees.

    Leanna T.

My go to place for crawfish. I love Viet Cajun flavors and the crawfish always hits. The garlic noodle also a favorite of mine. The downsides to this location are the limited amount of parking and the wait time on weekends. My friend got towed last time we went

This place was packed on a Sunday night, and I can see why it's so popular. The whole city loves crawfish and these heads do it very well. I couldn't really taste the Viet influence though; I'm no crawfish connoisseur and this just tasted like regular old garlic'ed crawfish to me lol. TBH the shrimp is more flavorful and has more meat than the crawfish!

The garlic eggplant was a little too saucy and didn't quite taste like garlic but more like the sweet and sour sauce for chicken. It was ok, but I think it would be better with the same brown sauce as either the general tso or chow fun. I like that you can switch out many of the meat options for veggies and other protein. I like spicy and have had medium spicy once on the chow fun noodles. It was good for me. I usually order mild and add red chili flakes to my liking. They serve large portions good for a few people or make small meals to take to work. Prices for some dishes are higher than others in comparison to places like Cooking Girl. Since I DoorDash and live near two of their locations, the food is always delivered hot and packaged well in takeout plastic containers for the main entree. I will continue to order here for any cravings. I'd love to try their orange peeled beef, sesame chicken or tofu, scallion pancakes with chili sauce and Thai tea.

No one checked to see if I needed a tea refill during the meal. In the restroom, an ant casually strolled into my stall and wandered around, which was unexpected. The biggest issue was the food. Multiple dishes had an unexpected smoky flavor, including the wonton soup, hot and sour soup, and General Tso's chicken. My husband and I both noticed it. The food was okay, but the smoky taste wasn't something we enjoyed, and I ended up leaving quite a bit on my plate rather than taking leftovers home. When I began eating it, I immediately tasted cilantro on a portion of the chicken. I strongly dislike cilantro and am very familiar with its very distinctive taste, so I sent the dish back. The cilantro itself wasn't even what bothered me most. Mistakes and cross-contact happen in restaurant kitchens. Since I didn't taste it on every piece of chicken, I assumed some of it may simply have been accidentally garnished or come into contact with cilantro. What bothered me was how the chef/owner handled it. He came to my table and proceeded to tell me that what I was tasting wasn't cilantro. He insisted that I was either tasting the microgreens or green onion. I know what cilantro tastes like. I certainly know the difference between cilantro, green onion and microgreens. Instead of simply acknowledging that something could have happened in the kitchen, he spoke to me as though I didn't understand what I was tasting. Eventually, I just agreed with him because I wanted the conversation to end and wanted him away from my table. I wasn't agreeing because I suddenly believed I had mistaken green onion or microgreens for cilantro. I simply had no interest in continuing to argue with the chef/owner over what I had personally tasted in my own food. I have no interest in engaging with a man who acts like that and wants to argue. A much more professional response would have been, "I'm sorry about that. We'll replace it." That would have been the end of the matter. Instead, a minor and completely understandable kitchen mistake became an uncomfortable interaction because of the way it was handled. Food mistakes happen. I don't expect perfection. But I do expect to be treated respectfully rather than patronized and argued with over something as simple as cilantro. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled is what left the lasting impression.Definitely not coming back. This was my third and final visit here.

The food looked incredible in the reviews, and it really was! However, we were expecting more of a traditional Saturday night dining experience with waitstaff, so we were surprised to walk in and find counter service and a fountain drink machine. My friend initially wanted to leave, but I convinced her we should stay and try it since neither of us had been before. I'm glad we did because the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food did not disappoint. That said, the self-service setup could use some improvement. The process for getting water and dinnerware wasn't intuitive, and we weren't sure where to go or what was available. We ordered the shareable Edamame appetizer, which was delicious, but it didn't arrive until after our entrées, so we had to ask about it which was disappointing because we wanted to nibble on that before the main entree. Interestingly, another table that was seated after us received two or three shareable appetizers soon after being seated & before we received any food at all. When our entrées arrived, we also realized we didn't have any cutlery. We were seated on the patio where there was a nearby station with napkins, spoons, chopsticks, one knife, but no forks. Since we didn't want to eat our bowls with chopsticks, we had to figure out where to get what we needed. For a Saturday night at 7:30pm, this felt like a lack of preparation. I think Loro could significantly improve the experience by having ONE clearly designated self-service station with everything guests need - water, napkins, forks, knives, spoons, chopsticks, etc., and having staff briefly explain the setup to first-time guests. That small change would make the experience much more seamless. Now, the FOOD! My friend ordered the Shrimp Bowl and I had the Steak Bowl. They may not look like much, but WOW, both were incredibly delicious and satisfying. I also tried the Frozen Beverage Flight, which was such a fun treat and a great way to sample the different options before choosing a favorite for the next visit. Despite the service-flow hiccups, the food was excellent, the staff were friendly, and I'd definitely come back. I just hope the self-service experience becomes a little more intuitive because Loro has some seriously good food!

Monk's has officially become our Houston tradition. We drive in from San Antonio, and this is a…read morenon-negotiable stop for us every single time. Honestly, every dish we've ever tried here has been fantastic--it hits exactly the right spots. The Flavor Profile: A quick heads-up for those seeking "authentic" traditional Chinese--this isn't it. This is the Indianized version of Chinese food (Indo-Chinese), so prepare for bold spices and a serious kick. If you grew up loving those specific flavors, Monk's is the gold standard. The Verdict: The heat is on point, the portions are great, and the flavors are nostalgic and bold. It's the kind of meal we look forward to all the way down I-10. Truly a gem for anyone who appreciates the spicy, savory fusion of Desi Chinese!

I walked in and the spices were spicing so much so that I started sneezing. I asked if maybe the dining area was through some door, but no there is no dine in. It's a small space with a register and seats to wait for your order or you can wait in your car. Food: 4/5 Chicken Tikka Masala it was creamy and velvety, I'm not a big fan of tomato but know is a core part of it, which I did distinguish the taste in this order that I haven't usually tasted in others. The garlic naan had good flavor however it was a bit tough and crunchy when biting into it. Which wasn't my favorite, but got the job done to dip into the sauce.

This restaurant shares a parking lot with the Hobbit Cafe so space can be a little tight/limited…read more Despite it being a Friday night, my friend and I were able to be seated right away. For drinks, I got the Mekhong Mojito and it was sweet and refreshing! For appetizers, we got the crispy squid and the crispy wonton- crispy squid was good but if you had to choose between the two, get the crispy wonton! As for the entree, I ordered the Khao Soi with shrimp and my friend ordered the spicy red snapper. The curry broth with coconut milk was fragrant and with the toppings that came on the side (i.e. lime, onions/shallots, mustard greens, etc) enhanced the dish. The flat egg noodles were bouncy and the shrimp was solid. If you're stuck between choosing a curry dish and a noodle dish, get the best of both worlds and order the Khao Soi! As for my friend's spicy red snapper, I tried a bite and the spices/texture in the dish complimented the fish very well. For dessert, we ordered the classic Mango Sticky Rice! The mango was soft/sweet, the rice and sauce had that salty coconutty flavor. Aside from the delicious food, the interior is cozy and the waiters here were friendly and gave great advice on what to order. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and are craving good thai food!
