The ambience is warm, classy and comfortable. The service was outstanding. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it was clear that Ren is leagues above any other restaurant we've visited. Calling Ren a restaurant feels almost like an understatement; it's a culinary journey. The menu is a testament to culinary artistry - each dish, from the appetizers through to the desserts, was a masterpiece. The flavors and textures were unique and memorable, with each bite cooked to absolute perfection. The service at Ren deserves its own accolade - it's a five-star experience in its own right. The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive, enriching our evening with detailed descriptions of each dish. They didn't just serve food; they presented a story on a plate, explaining the intricate details of the ingredients, preparation, and the symphony of flavors to expect. The ambiance of Ren added to the magic of the evening. The decor was tasteful, the furniture and seating comfortable, creating an environment that was both elegant and inviting. It's clear that attention to detail is a priority here, and it shows in every aspect of the restaurant. In conclusion, dining at Ren isn't just a meal; it's an immersive experience that tantalizes all the senses. While it may not be the most budget-friendly option, what you receive is far more than just food - it's an evening of unforgettable culinary exploration. I wholeheartedly recommend Ren Restaurant for anyone looking to elevate their dining experience to extraordinary heights.

I have walked past it many times and always assumed it was closed. Turns out they only serve dinner, which explains a lot. The dining room is small with just a handful of tables, so it is probably best to come early or make a reservation. The tight space and rustic interior give it a lot of charm. It almost feels like stepping into a place that has not changed in decades, which really adds to that old school Italian vibe. The service was incredible. The waiter, who might also be the owner, was so friendly and welcoming. He made the whole experience feel personal, like you were being hosted in someone's home rather than just eating at a restaurant. Since it was my birthday, we went a little overboard with the ordering. I had to pace myself because I honestly wanted to devour everything that came to the table. The portions are generous and every dish we tried was great. The mozzarella in carozza was easily one of the most indulgent things I have ever eaten. It was rich, crispy, cheesy, and completely over the top in the best way. I thought that would be the highlight until the stuffed artichoke arrived. The stuffing was incredible and packed with flavor. I only wish the artichoke itself had a bit more flesh, but I would still order it again without hesitation! The entrees were just as satisfying. The chicken parm was excellent, but by that point we had already gone too hard on the appetizers, so most of the mains ended up coming home with us. Even though we were all stuffed, I made sure to save room for dessert. The ricotta cheesecake was absolutely worth it! It had subtle hints of lemon and the texture was light and creamy. I will probably be thinking about that cheesecake for a while. Overall, Ortobello checked every box. The atmosphere, the food, and the hospitality were all fantastic. I will definitely be back!!!

For $98 per person (or a bit less if you're paying all cash ), you get all you can eat AND cocktails! And they don't water those drinks down! They had a great variety of seafood. I loved the AYCE oysters--super fresh--and everyone also gets a full lobster, blue crab, jumbo oyster, and the most amazing foie gras toast. The standouts for me were the jumbo cocktail shrimp, truffle fries, salmon sashimi, and shockingly good pasta and mozzarella sticks. Only misses were the cooked jumbo oyster, and the desserts--cheesecake and tiramisu were dry. But the chocolate lava cake is a must have! Overall laid-back vibe, friendly staff, and a fun spot for a group outting. Definitely coming back for the next special occasion!

For the two of us, we maybe over ordered a bit with a pad see ew, grilled marinated ribeye, and the crab fried rice. I also ordered the tom yum to try, and was pleasantly surprised! Level 3 spicy is not too spicy for the soup, and the flavors were all well balanced. All of the dishes were solid and generously portioned. We ordered the steak medium rare, and it maybe came out to be a little more rare. Regardless, it was still tasty. Prices are super reasonable, service is attentive. Cash & card are accepted. The waiter gave us time to get settled in before ordering. He was helpful and politely answered our questions. Drinks: We both had the Spicy Tamarind. Jalapeño infused tequila gives it a kick. Not overpowering-just enough heat. Mixed well, a good drink. Appetizers: We had the curry puffs and fried calamari. The curry puffs were fresh, hot and the cucumber/onion vinegar dip complimented it well. The calamari was good-it could have been a little more tender. The sauce it came with was good. Dinner: We both had Drunken noodles (asked for not very spicy). He had shrimp and I had tofu. The shrimp was a good amount and was flavored well. The tofu was too well done for me but still good with the dish. I would definitely come back. Ambiance and food were great!

I've had the dinner, I see they also have a lunch special Id like to check out. Most mains come with two sides. Their whole snapper with a side of rice and eggplant was wonderful. Fish was fresh and flavorful. The serving style was very attractive. I've also had the salmon special which is worth the visit ! The chef comes out and pours the caper remoulade. Probably my favorite dish. They offer a few beverages like the hibiscus (similar preparation to Agua de Jamaica). Now that I've visited a few times, something to be aware of is that sometimes they're a bit slow. But honestly it's nice to slow down and not be so time bound if you have the time. I ordered cheesy mussels ($15) and the creamy salmon pasta ($24). The pasta was really good and the sauce was flavorful and creamy. It had hints of lemon and garlic. Very well seasoned. It also had nice size chunks that salmon as well. The salmon was decent, but could've been seasoned a little but more. I'm typically an oyster gal, but they didn't have any on the menu so I opted for the mussels. They were tasty and well seasoned. If mussels are your vibe, I think you'll enjoy. If you're in Sunset Park, stop by and give them a try.
