    Fried rice special

I ordered a large special rice to go and when I opened the container it was like a small order of rice scattered around

In my family, we are all big Golden Seafood fans. We usually go to The Heights location, along with the one in Katy, and we honestly didn't know this location existed (thanks, Yelp!). This Golden has all the same menu offerings, just some items we noticed were prepared different. The usual grilled salmon we get came with a vegetable gravy; my ceviche tostada, I was not a fan of. It hardly had any ceviche, came with the unexpected imitation crab and shaved lettuce. At $6, not worth it. What you should order? Salmon was still good; oysters; micheladas (best in town); fried shrimp; fried fish... There is a separate room with a few games for kids and or large parties.

The Micheladas are good here; I'm definitely going back. I got the fried shrimp and fish, and it was delicious. The fries are really yummy too. They have a hot sauce on the table that's also bomb. The servers were attentive, even though we went a little late. The ambiance was good; I was enjoying my fries and jamming to the music.

Went to try out this seafood place and it was totally worth it. They have some great prices and great service. Had the Ceviche as an appetizer and it was really fresh with great lemon flavor. Then I shared a 9 piece fried shrimp and a Shrimp Cancun. Both were really good and flavorful. The shrimp fried rice is one of the best I've tasted. Will definitely be back to try a few other things on the menu.

    Terrible Manager

Been coming to this location since it opened! But today I asked the waitress for the Calamari special that was on the board! Which she answered no problem! When it was time to pay I was charged regular price and I informed the waitress, The waitress politely asked if I could speak to the manager as she looked scared to speak to the manager herself so I agreed! The Manager an asian lady refused to honor the special! Stating that that special never existed and ask me to show her which I did! She then stated that it must be old from months ago! And that I should have asked about the special before ordering which I did! I replied to her that being the manager or owner she should honor the special! THE MANAGER REPLIED: WE ARE NOT A FANCY RESTAURANT TO HONOR THAT PRICE! So according to this rude manager a restaurant must be fancy to honor a price that is posted on their restaurant wall! It's not about the few dollars more I had to spend but how rude she was and her unwillingness to acknowledge any wrong doing! But worst of all claiming that humble restaurants are not honoroble people!

This place is so damn good. It's definitely one of my top seafood places here in Houston. It's in the hood and the best food options are the number 20, 21, salmon, beef and broccoli, and the spicy shrimp soup. It's been a place for us to go eat at for years. Everyone knows the golden. Now service may not alwAys be the best but who cares when the food is that good. The micheladas hit the spot all the time. I can never get enough of Golden.

    Special fried rice

Too bad I can't give 0 stars. I ordered to go. I checked online before I ordered and the prices for the items I ordered are not the same as the prices they charge you at the register. When I got there no one greeted me. I stood there for a few minutes while servers passed right by me and didn't even let me know they would be right with me. The whole time I'm waiting there's an order ready bagged up by the register. When I finally get helped she hands me the order that was already there so I don't even know how long it had been sitting there for. Well, where do I start? They have the most expensive burnt cheeseburgers I've ever had. I ordered 3 cheeseburgers and the meat was burnt in all 3. The fries were cold and hard, I'm sure that had a-lot to do with the food sitting there for a while. The chicken nuggets were also burnt and hard. The egg rolls were ok. Oh and to top it off I'm still not sure what it was but when my hubby was eating his fried rice it sounded like he bit a rock. At first he said he thought it was a tooth but we looked and it looks like a rock. I called to let them know n the lady I spoke to was talking over me and basically calling me a liar. She said there was no way that could happen because they make their rice fresh every day and she didn't know how it got in there so I had to be lying because she couldn't see it in front of her. Y'all be careful when y'all go eat there. Might need a trip to the dentist after

Spicy fish soup. This was the small. Great value.
    Angela E.

Wow! What a great find! Had half a dozen oysters, shrimp Cancun, and fish soup all for under $30. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. The fish soup was so spicy my eyes watered, but it cleared my head. To be fair, the waitress warned me when I asked, but I decided to go ahead. This is a family place and priced to accommodate big families with several kids in tow. I'd say the majority of diners had an average of 6 people. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is casual - tv in the corner, popular and 80's music. We couldn't eat all the food they brought even though we technically only ordered for one and a half. We took half of it home. If you have a big family ad a small budget, this is the place to go.

Also, you cannot go wrong with the mambo fried rice. It's literally the best. To make it extra special put some of that hot habanero sauce on it and man you're talking about you got a great meal. Also, the pricing here is great. Where can you get a meal for lunch for around $10? Such a great value in my opinion. Also, recently they started up a loyalty program, which I think is amazing I come here all the time and I will absolutely take advantage of this. The service is usually really fast too. Cochinita & Co caught my attention because of owner and chef Victoria Elizondo who was a James Beard semifinalist, Culture Map chef of the year and her restaurant was ranked as one of the top 100 in Houston. The restaurant is located near EaDo and is easy to find. It's in a small strip of businesses so parking can be tight when it's busy. We came with about 30 minutes left for breakfast before they rolled out their lunch menu. There was a few tables of people enjoying their breakfast, but the place got really busy about an hour into lunch. Customer service was great. I needed help making some ordering decisions and the staff steered me in the right direction. I specifically came for breakfast. I started off with an iced Horchata Latte. This drink was excellent. You got all the flavors of a traditional horchata with the cinnamon while still having the coffee flavor present. It was a very well balanced drink. For my entree I went with their popular chilaquiles. They said this is their number one seller for breakfast and I could totally see why. I went with the red chile salsa for the spicy version, but you can also get it with a salsa verde. It comes with black beans, fried egg (you can request a different cook if you desire), crema, queso fresco and green onions. You can add a protein for an additional charge. I added chorizo to mine. Chilaquiles is not something I ever order but I had to try it here. I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone because this dish was amazing. Now I've had bites here and there of chilaquiles but was never blown away, hence me not ordering it. The chips were coated throughout and kept it's crunch through the whole meal. All the components of the dish worked in perfect harmony. I liked mine with the chorizo addition. The egg was nice and runny and I would consider adding another egg next time. It was a generous portion and a heavy meal, but I powered through the whole thing because it was so good. They had a nice display of baked goods and I could not pass up the pretty cinnamon roll. I got the last one and it looked very promising. It ended up being just ok. They served it room temp so it ate very dry. It would have been good if it was heated up and gooey. We ended up wasting most of it. Overall, this visit was long overdue but worth the wait. I'm still thinking about the chilaquiles a week later. I will most definitely be back to check out more of their menu.

We went on a Saturday for lunch. Hopefully this was just a one-off, but if you're looking for good Cajun boiled crawfish, this is not it. We started off with 6 lbs (group of 4) of their regular crawfish. First off, they put the Cajun seasoning on outside/shell (!!), which is a cardinal sin for Cajuns. They also minimally seasoned the boil, so the meat was lacking salt and flavor. We ordered 3 more lbs with the "wet sauce" (garlic butter), thinking the lack of flavor may be attributed to this being the first-ish batch of the day. Nope, the second batch was even less seasoned than the first. The sauce was good, but it didn't make up for the unseasoned meat. The crawfish were a good size, at least... Come on guys, I expect more from a Gulf Coast seafood restaurant!
