Fried Shrimp, Fish, fries, and salad...
    Shelia S.

I really appreciate this place. We had Hurricane Beryl yesterday and I was without power and food. To see that this place was open today was truly amazing because I was starving. The food was delicious and couldn't have been open at a better time.

For a 6 shrimp and 6 oyster combo poster ($8.99), she was going to charge me well over $10 plus some changes and claim that it is due to tax. Well, it turns out the side (fries or salad) costs extra. Food is fresh and the service is just OK. This location specifically cooks in Chinese way. The other location on Scott and Holman is pure Vietnamese way. It means the flavor is different and price is different as well. I do find the food quite pricy still so it is unlikely for me to come back again. I should add that the moment you enter the place, you will get a full immersion of fish market.. The smell is strong enough that I wish the owner would do something about it.

Great food, classic hood fish spot. Had amazing fried oysters that burst in your mouth... delicious and flaky catfish. Fries on point too.

Fried fish was bomb! The shrimp were big and juicy! Seasoning was perfect. Not to much breading. Rice was also bomb! Overall great food.

Food is always good but, don't try and call in on a Friday not going to happen. They do not answer on a Friday.

I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try the Oysters Rockefeller... and let's just say they weren't my speed. They weren't bad, just not for me. So naturally I sent them back and ordered my tried-and-true favorite... Chargrilled Oysters with extra garlic butter, Parmesan, and bacon. Now THAT'S what I came for! Rich, buttery, cheesy, smoky, and absolutely loaded with flavor. Every bite reminded me why these are my go-to. And because brunch rules apply... it was only right to enjoy a pineapple mimosa (or two ). Light, refreshing, and the perfect pairing for all that seafood. If you're visiting Goode Co. Seafood, my advice is simple: Don't skip the Smoked Redfish Dip. Order the Chargrilled Oysters. Add extra garlic butter. Thank me later. 9.5/10 -- I'll definitely be back! #LoveJonesEats #HoustonEats #GoodeSeafood #ChargrilledOysters #SeafoodLover #HoustonFoodie #BrunchVibes #MimosaMood #SupportLocal #FoodieFinds

My first happy hour visit I tried their Mississippi-style chicken on a stick (good, but I prefer San Antonio's milanesa version dipped in pickled jalapeno juice). But standouts at Josephine's, for me, are the: :: Smoked redfish dip--we sometimes order two because my boyfriend powers through this app. :: Blue Crab Rice Bowl--a lot of fun flavors going on and it's very filling. Make it an entree. :: And of course, their oysters. I'm an oyster happy hour girlie! Check out my Yelp list of oyster happy hours: https://www.yelp.com/collection/ZhuQbFKQfzO2TR6QFYMc0w/Oyster-Happy-Hour :: The beau loves their pea salad; said it's just like his grandma used to make. I don't fully rec the the jerk fish collars, as this dish has a lot of bones and it's hard to eat. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a great cocktail list--they've got frozen margs and frozen sidecar.

Something simple that should be an easy win. Unfortunately, everything leaned the same direction: either it was heavy, over-sauced, or overly garlicky. It tasted more like dressed-up frozen food than something thoughtfully prepared. And listen...I don't mind indulgent. But there still has to be balance and fresh food. Fresh like it was raw and delivered today, not fresh like fried in the last 15 mins. When everything is coated, covered, and competing, nothing actually stands out. The drinks didn't help either. They leaned hard on alcohol without much flavor behind them--more "this will get you there" than "this tastes good." Nothing was terrible. But nothing made me want another bite, either. And with seafood, that's kind of the whole point. The atmosphere is friendly, great music, and the service was very attentive. Even the presentation wasn't bad. It just wasn't enough. But at some point, you stop asking what's missing and just accept that it's not landing. I was still hungry so I went next door hoping for a better experience. I want to be clear: It's not bad. It's just not working.
