Our server was attentive and friendly. The drinks were nice and strong. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and I wasn't impressed. A little on the salty side but large enough to share with a few others. We come here almost weekly. Always sit at the bar. The service is quick and friendly. All our needs are anticipated. The oysters are incredibly fresh and reasonably priced. We went on a Sunday, me and my boyfriend and the charged $13.49 on gratuity included to the tap.... I left tip on top of that on the table not knowing that they already included. Wish they were a little more honest when they advertise their food. The only reason I wanted to try this place was because of how great the cocktail looked on the billboard. When the cocktail came, it did not have any of the shrimp off the sides, no olives, and no lime. I politely asked if they made it wrong by mistake and showed them a picture of how it looks on the billboard. Honestly i don't complain to much about places because i'm more than great full for their service, but i come here pretty frequently and get lunch . Today i was going to order to go and called in they put me on hold and never responded back. So i come in and i order my usual also not to say they do not charge you the menu price (printed on togo and in the menus at the restaurant) 5.25 for an item . Come to find out they are charging 7.25. When i question them about it all they can say is that the menus haven't been updated ?? Well i hope they would at least charge me what they menu says ! I went to dinner w/my family on a Wednesday night and was disappointed at how loud the music was in the restaurant. It was as if I was at a club. I asked the waiter if they could turn the volume down because we were having to shout at each other over dinner. He said NO. While I agree with some of the other reviews that the music is a bit loud (even what they play on the speakers without a live band), but I didn't mind it because they were classic Mexican songs that everyone can sing along to. I ordered the shrimp ceviche tostadas and they were loaded and delicious. Their green salsa that comes with the chips is AMAZING and so spicy I had to order the horchata to try and get some milk to calm the fire in my mouth. I willingly poured the green salsa on my tostada and it was like a spicy heaven in my mouth. My sister ordered a shrimp cocktail and it was also packed with shrimp so much so, she had to ask for a to go box. It makes me sad that this place has such low ratings that mostly judge the ambiance of the place and not the quality of the food. The food was really good and I can't wait to go back! When asked to the waitress multiple times to lower the music it was replied that their not able too. I simply walked out the nostalgic feeling of the food is the only reason I go there. Although I'm only giving this restaurant 3 stars, the food is actually quite good. There is nothing fancy about this place: it's a taqueria that mostly serves seafood. That's it. We went on a Saturday night and got there around 8ish. We were seated promptly considering it was very busy. We had micheladas and they mix was surprisingly good. Def recommend the micheladas there if you are a fan of them. I know I'm fan of them and had 3 myself. Also, the salsa was pretty tasty and they also had some different types of hot sauces on the table that were quite good and easily found at a Fiesta Mart if you want them for your personal arsenal at home. The food itself was quite tasty. My lady friend had the fried Tilapia and was very good. I ordered the "Pulpo a la Diabla." I was told by numerous people prior to going there that if you don't let the waitstaff know ahead of time, the kitchen will grill the squid and it will come out very hard. So I specifically informed the waiter to not grill the squid but to make sure that the kitchen sautees the squid in the sauce. It came out exactly like I asked and it was very spicy and very good. My little girl had the Kid's Taco plate and she liked the meat, rice and beans. Overall, the place is good due to the fact that the food is good. However, I recommend to not visit the place late at night because they have Karaoke in Spanish and it's usually the DJ who sings and unfortunately, bless her little heart, is not a very good singer at all. In fact, she's just awful! But, if you're in the mood to sing some Vicente Fernandez or Ramon Ayala, this is the place for you. Also, the service is quite slow but of course you'd expect that in a taqueria. However, in the waiter's defense, I did see that he must have had 8 to 10 tables by himself. I think that he was the only competent one there and since the other waitresses are either incompetent or too busy checking their Facebook, he had to pick up the slack. Regardless of the minor setbacks, I will say that whenever we want some fairly cheap but delicious seafood and we're in the area, we'll def consider this place first. Mar Y Tierra - Fajitas were okay; cant mess that up. The fish didnt taste to well; seemed really saugy; the shrimp had really hard skin on it barely any meat to eat. I was excited when I ordered a plate that came with; Chicken & Steak Fajitas, Shrimp, fish, rice & beans but this was not what was in the picture. lol Yeah the music was too loud for my liking; big place. I dont think the WHOLE place should be blasting the music; maybe just the bar side should have the music that loud. Went here for lunch and was happy with the food, I had a combo with shrimp and fajitas, very good rice and beans, and less than a mile from my house. Full bar and open late, I could see the possibilities of this becoming our neighborhood late night place. Couldn't wait to take the hubby, but when we popped in for dinner, the waitress couldn't understand my drink order--rum and diet coke. She sent over someone who spoke better English and she didn't understand either and then they told me they didn't have any rum. Really, what do you make pina coladas with?? We did a take out order. Cajun Shrimp Camaron Botana $23.95lb, We get home no corn or potatoes and what looks like 1/2lb. We contacted the manager Jose Flores.. he wanted me to stop what I was doing and take the entire order back to the restaurant so he could see and look that there was no corn or potato in the plastic container... SMH.. seriously? We also ordered the fish filet with 6 shrimps.. We got a filet of fish cut in half to make two fish fillets and only 4 shrimps... I told him (manager Jose Flores) that the order was incomplete and prepared poorly. Again he wanted me to stop what I was doing and take my dinner back to him so he could verify. I told him i will take a picture so he can see. He was aminet about me wrapping my dinner take a 8 mile drive back to the restaurant so he can verify my order... I believe this "Manager" Jose Flores could have been more pleasant and made my dinner experience more pleasurable. I will NEVER go back to that place. I finally got ahold of their Cooperate office and left a message. Hopefully they can make this better. Until then.. This location has the poorest service.... My total order was $56.00 which I think I could have went to Long John Silvers and had a more pleasurable dinning experience. read more

My husband was craving "Mexican seafood", so we went here. It was fairly empty for 7pm, but it was a Wednesday. We shared the fried calamari appetizer, which was really very good. The calamari was perfectly cooked, not horribly chewy and overdone like it can be all too often at other places. I ordered two tostadas, one cooked shrimp off the main menu, and the fish ceviche appetizer tostada. I preferred the ceviche tostada, but not for any concrete reason. My husband had the snapper fillet, and very much enjoyed it. The service wasn't exactly bad, but the waiter didn't notice that my water glass was waterless, which always bugs me. The mariachis, as always, everywhere, were just a little too loud; they prevent easy conversing. But that was better than the mic-checks that were happening before they began. read more

He asked us if we wanted more chips after we finished our first little plate and we said "sure". . I went on a Tuesday in the afternoon and this guy took more than 10 minutes to bring them!!!!! It was a slow ass night! I'm a waitress and there shouldn't be a reason why he was taking long. I can tell when the environment is busy as hell & he didn't have many tables because this guy was brooming and cleaning and had forgotten our chips!!!!! While we were waiting on my other friend to get there , we decided to order all together... I ordered an appetizer first and everyone else ordered entrees.. Tell me why I was the last one to get my food. My friends got all their food!!!! My boyfriend got his entree and didn't touch it because he wanted to wait on my food to get there first so we could eat... Well tell me why.. A FOOD RUNNER (not my waiter) asked my boyfriend... "Why haven't you touched your food?" And he replied "she hasn't gotten her food." I ordered an APPETIZER!!!!!! that should've been brought up first!!!!!! It was just a shrimp cocktail while everyone else got orders of fish,shrimp and oysters!!!!! The waiter hardly checked up on our table whatsoever! I had a horrible experience here and WILL NEVER EVER be back. I usually leave a decent amount of tip but I gave him less than what deserved and so did my friends. He asked for my friends ID but didn't ask my boyfriend for one and he claimed he didn't wanna get in trouble and what not.. Then why in the hell didn't he ask my boyfriend for his ID? He could've not had it and served him.. He could've gotten in trouble with TABC right there!!! He could've been a worker for the BARS program. Regardless if he looked old AF... He's supposed to ask for an ID.. No matter what!!! My boyfriend (24) got a Dos XX and after he finished it the waiter came back and asked if he wanted another one.. This guy took more than 5 minutes to bring a damn bottled Dos XX!! Then he asked my boyfriend if he wanted another one and he said "I'm still waiting on that second one" and he said "oh yeah!" He was about to charge him for 3 when he only had 2 throughout the whole night!!!! I was so annoyed!!! I swear to god I was anxious to get home and write about this experience. He asked everyone for refills and didn't even notice me. I didn't even wanna look at him in the face. Therefore that being said, If you want good service.. Don't expect it here. We ordered the Parillada Mixta plate and it was so good, we came back the following week and ordered the Parillada d Huach. They were both great with so much food we had to take some home. The plates were packed with seafood and very tasty. I also tried their oyster plate and was not disappointed. The prices were very reasonable for the amount of food.
