This is a hidden gem tucked between Texas Southern University and Blodgett St. Good service with even better fish. If you want homestyle fish that's fried to a perfect crunch and melts in your mouth then this is the spot for you! Just keep it simple with tarter and dash of hot sauce and it's a hit. Ideal for a late night munchie fix or casual lunch btrea

They are very accommodating and the food is delicious for a reasonable price. It is a whole in the wall. But the people are friendly.

Located in the heart of third ward this nostalgic fish market offers a 6 wing with fried rice dinner. I placed my order through the phone. I had to call twice but.. hey I got through! Now...I like my food spicy so that's what I ordered for both chicken and rice. Living over 30 minutes away I drove to the small market located on the corner of Blodgett. The restaurant was small.. ambiance of an older structure....The food was so good I ate it the next day! Here's a pic!

Blodgett Fish Market is a hood spot but hits the spot. Located in Houston's 3rd Ward. Great pit stop for fried fish, fried rice shrimp, oysters and egg rolls. Strictly for taking you food to go. Parking in the area is a bit jacked up but doable. Decent portions and reasonable prices. Yes they do take all major credit cards. Food is made fresh to order. Fish is large in size. Definitely a whole in the wall type of place. But if you want good fried fish that won't break the bank, go anyway. You will not be disappointed.

Too damn good. I been sleeping on the neighborhood fish markets. For $10 you can get a whole amazing meal. That's amazing in this economy. This place ugly as hell from the inside and the ac might not work but the food is good okay. The asian lady who runs it is doing the best job too cause she stays stocked up on the drinks. Definitely come by. The fish and shrimp were fresh and crispy.

I'm giving this place 5 stars because I got exactly what i expected from this place. The rice, gravy , and chicken were good (not fantastic or great but simply it's good enough ) plain and simple and it's a lot of food for cheap. The lady behind the counter was nice and patient, the inside has definitely seen better days but you don't come to a place like this for the ambience. I will definitively come back to try the shrimp and fish next time.

Clutch your pearls ladies... or fellas! Lol this is the hood but it's all good. I normally call my order in but I decided to pull up and sit today. I always order the spicy shrimp fried rice and shicken wangz to go. Not really a dine in restaurant so don't plan on staying. Food is cooked pretty quickly and they do have cold dranks available. No alcohol tho! They ain't that hood! lol I always get a 75 cent water.. Back in the "99" and the "2000" it use to be a really good fish market. The case is empty now. Parking is very limited and just all jacked up. You have to be careful pulling out because other passing cars aren't as generous to wait while you pull out.

This place has gone down hill the cashier was so busy talking to her bank about her personal account she couldn't take my order so she made me wait after getting my order the rice was gummy and 10 pieces of frozen chicken pieces shameful take a look at the photos I'm sure they don't care about reviews or customers I will never go back

When we arrived, the host let us choose where we wanted to sit. I originally spotted a cozy booth by the window, but since we were asked if we'd like to sit where we could watch the TV during the Cup match, we opted for one of the high-top tables instead. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a mistake because there isn't any lighting at the high tables. We could barely see our food. Adding pendant or drop-down lighting above those tables would make a huge difference. If you plan to visit, I'd recommend requesting a regular table or booth for better lighting. The menu is definitely unique, though I found it somewhat limited compared to other seafood restaurants. To start, I ordered the roasted oysters while my friend had a dozen raw oysters with all the traditional fixings. The roasted oysters were delicious, but there was so much topping that it almost took the shine away from the oysters themselves. Next time, I'd ask for lighter toppings and no scallions. For my entrée, I had the Halfshell Grilled Redfish. The fish itself was cooked beautifully--moist, flaky, and perfectly prepared. The only downside was the chermoula, which leaned far too heavily on the citrus. The lemon flavor completely overpowered the fish. As my side, I ordered the Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo. Unfortunately, it had a distinct burnt taste, which made it seem like the roux had been overcooked. A good gumbo should have a deep, rich flavor, but this one was overshadowed by that burnt note. My friend ordered the Jerk Fish Collars, and we both agreed they would have been much better if the fish had been marinated to allow the jerk seasoning to really penetrate. I also ordered a Lemon Drop Martini, and I have to admit I was surprised when it arrived in such a tiny martini glass, especially considering the price. Overall, the quality of the seafood is evident, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. I think a few adjustments to the lighting, better balance in some of the flavors, and more attention to details like the gumbo and cocktail portions would elevate the experience even further. I'd definitely return to try more of the menu and hope for a more polished experience next time.

Upon entering the hostess offered us a glass of complimentary champagne which I declined. Once seated our server Amelia came by to introduce herself and go over the menu. She was informative, attentive and very kind to us. She was upbeat and energetic which made the experience 10 times better and another reason why Granger's is getting a 5 instead of 4 stars. I started off with their mocktail and I got the Rothko-colada which I thought was a little too sweet for my liking but I did enjoy the pineapple flavor, it was strong. I also got to try my friend mocktail (dot-dot seurat) which I wasn't a fan of. After that we got an order of the Parmesan truffle fries & prime filet mignon tips (medium rare). The fries were delicious, Parmesan was strong. The filet mignon tips were tendered and seasoned to perfection. The whipped potatoes were fine but the Demi-glacé was very good. It was cooked more on the medium side but delicious nonetheless. After that we ordered our main courses. I got the crusted salmon and so did Tiffany J. Annalisa P. ordered the pesto pasta rotisserie chicken and my other friend got the wagyu burger. My salmon was cooked medium which I prefer & had a good crust on the bottom. I also had a side of sauté spinach which I should've pasted on it since it was bland. Very garlicky but that's all I got from it. I also got to sample my friend's burger, crispy Brussel sprouts & pesto pasta. The burger was juicy and the patty itself was high quality. Loved the addition of the caramelized onions. The Brussels sprout was a no for me, it was very sweet from idk what. The pesto pasta was very good and the noodles were al dente, chicken was also tendered. At the end I ordered their dessert and got the crème brûlée. Good caramelization on the top of the brûlée. The custard was slightly sweet, smooth, creamy and silky. It was the perfect consistency. Overall, I was satisfied. The food overall was a 4 but Amelia provided spectacular service and is the reason I'll give it a perfect 5 stars. She even checked on us after we paid our bill & packed our leftovers and labeled them. I will say that the ambiance is intimate but kind of loud. The music did start simmering down once we were done with our food. If you want more privacy I'll say sit outside on their patio. Will I come back? Oh yeah.

Even though I previewed the menu and had an idea of what I wanted, I still had a lot of questions, and Amelia gave great feedback on the mocktail options and food. Our friends ordered a few appetizers such as the parmesan truffle fries and prime filet mignon tips. Loved them both! TBH, I would've been fine if that was my meal. I thought the fries were cooked well, and the aioli dipping sauce was tasty. The prime filet mignon tips were cooked medium even though my friend asked for medium rare. It was still good and tender. I liked the whipped potatoes with the mushrooms and demi-glace. It was like a good steak with mashed potatoes and brown gravy but elevated. For $19, it's on the steeper side in relation to the small portion. The parmesan truffle fries are $16, but it was a much larger portion. I'm assuming the quality of the truffle oil they use for it is what you're really paying for. I was craving pasta that week, so I ordered the pesto pasta rotisserie chicken. I'm a fan of pappardelle noodles, and I thought it was properly cooked al dente. The chicken was cubed and tender. The pesto itself wasn't overpowering for me, but I like pesto. I'm glad there were a lot of pine nuts and that the dish came with garlic sourdough. I love a good garlic bread with my pasta. The dish was served piping hot and was a big portion. I ate half and took the rest home. It ate well the next day. Again, it's a little pricey for pesto pasta at $27. Good thing most of the food we ordered tasted good. The Brussels sprouts were too sweet and very honey forward. It lacked acidity. I also tried a bite of my friend's salmon, and I thought it was nice and fresh. I'd come back and try one of their steaks and CFC. I liked the large selection of mocktails at decent price points since some of them had brand alternatives. I actually wanted to try 3 or 4 of them, but I went with only one - Dot Dot Seurat. It has sparkling fruit punch with fresh strawberries, muddled pineapple, 'filthy cherries' juice, topped with Topo Chico. It looked pretty and tasted good. It wasn't too sweet or sour. I'd like to try the Georgia O'Peach frozen drink next time. Service was great. Everyone helped each other out, and they provided new plates and silverware like at Little's and other Michelin-rated restaurants. Before leaving, Amelia hooked me up with free iced tea to go, too. Many thanks!! The outside covered patio area was nice. I'd dine out there next time. It would be even better on patio weather days. Come check them out! They're participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks, too.

Something simple that should be an easy win. Unfortunately, everything leaned the same direction: either it was heavy, over-sauced, or overly garlicky. It tasted more like dressed-up frozen food than something thoughtfully prepared. And listen...I don't mind indulgent. But there still has to be balance and fresh food. Fresh like it was raw and delivered today, not fresh like fried in the last 15 mins. When everything is coated, covered, and competing, nothing actually stands out. The drinks didn't help either. They leaned hard on alcohol without much flavor behind them--more "this will get you there" than "this tastes good." Nothing was terrible. But nothing made me want another bite, either. And with seafood, that's kind of the whole point. The atmosphere is friendly, great music, and the service was very attentive. Even the presentation wasn't bad. It just wasn't enough.
