This is one of the newer Saltgrass Steak Houses, now located in Gulf Gate. Although the downtown convention center location is waaaay closer for us, dealing with paid parking or convention crowds isn't worth it...unless we MetroRail, but that's a whole other adventure I'm not always willing to take. We've been to this location SO many times now. The staff of young servers are all great. I think we almost always get Devon or Christian (hey, guys!). And they have to put up with my partner's lame dad jokes. :) I always get the salmon and veggies. Beau likes their prime rib on Saturday and Sunday (it runs out though!). Don't fill up on their bread. Or their salads... save room for cheesecake, y'all. This location has a very large private dining room, a bar area, main dining, and outside patio. On Saturday April 18 2026, I was invited to my friend Irma's Sparkling-Chic bday dinner this past Saturday. Also, I've never been to this location before ,so the ambience was very different. So, I ordered the dynamite steak and shrimp and a frozen swirl sangria margarita. My food came out hot and everything was delicious. The service was pretty good ,and our waitress was very friendly as well. The bday girl really enjoyed herself and her complimentary carrot cake for dessert. Very friendly server who was very attentive. The food was rich and filling as expected. Spinach and artichoke dip was especially delightful along with the mozzarella cheese squares. I visited this Saltgrass this week excited that there is a new one in the area. Most of our current options are on the other side of a traffic filled freeway and this location is right down the road for us. The service was amazing, and the new restaurant is really nice inside! They have big TVs in the bar area, so it's a great option for watching sports with a side of steak now. I pretty much always order the Pat's Ribeye at Saltgrass, and my order here came out great. The steak was cooked perfectly and the food was nice and hot. I also tried a few drinks, I had a pineapple margarita that was delicious. They have a ton of parking being in the HEB parking lot, so even though it was crowded finding an available parking spot was easy. This is going to be my default location from now on, can't wait to try it again! read more

After a work shift went to decompress and have some happy hour drinks and some appetizers were told we had to order food in order to order more drinks and this is a family restaurant after only drinking one drink. Staff came over nicely but at the end this is up surd maybe if everyone was drinking excessively I would understand but this was not the case what so ever. read more

Absolutely the worst restaurant experience I've had in many years. The steaks were each way overcooked. Mine was supposed to be MR, came out extra well. Sent it back to be replaced by a raw, uncooked one ..which the manager told us was correct..?? Then, wrong sides were brought out multiple times. We never got the condiments we asked for and our teas and waters were not refilled. The kicker was that the manager( Abraham) had major attitude and acted as if we were a bother. He then " comped" (his words, )..my dinner, which I never could eat! He didn't even offer as a much as an ice tea. Well... I tried to contact their corporate office but after two weeks, I gave up. Food wasn't great and they weren't organized at ALL. We had like 5-6 waiters for our table of 7 which is confusing for them to get our order correct. My steak was overcooked when i asked medium well. When we asked for our drinks they said they were busy but the restaurant was empty. My family came here based on the 4.1 stars we seen thinking we would have good service but instead we were disappointed. read more

This location is the worst. I was there to buy $1500.00 worth of gift cards and the manager would not allow more than $500.00 to be sold. Told me should would be happy to send me the cards by USPS after my payment went through. Basically saying I can't afford them. I have never been so degraded as i was at the Gulfgate location. Landry's has become too large to take care of the long term customers who made them what they are today. read more

Service wasn't good. We had reservations. Got there early. We're told there's a 10-20 minute Waite. We waited way longer. No one said anything to us. Yes they were busy however you shouldn't have to wait 30+ minutes "while having reservations". Slide the reservation groups in with or ahead of walk-in's not at the back of line And at least say something to us during the long wait. Staff at front door was basic. Not nice. So If we would have gotten an attitude they would have had one worse. We left. read more
