We spent the night at this amazing inn. We had a room with twin beds and a fully renovated bathroom that was just beautiful. The whole inn is just as pretty as can be. In the morning, we started off with breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt and honey, freshly baked pumpkin muffin, French toast and sausage with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese. I'm really sorry that I couldn't leave a better review but we only got the bed we paid for, not the breakfast. Very awkward situation- We had told the innkeeper the night before that we would be down for breakfast at 9 AM. We were exactly on time, sitting down in the dining room where two places had been set for us. I overheard a staff member in the kitchen discussing my gluten free meal, so we figured they were still working on it and waited patiently. My companion did go into the next room to get coffee at the Keurig but he said there weren't any mugs available. A staff member had walked past us after about 10 minutes and said good morning, so we were confident that they were aware that we were there waiting. After about 20 minutes, some one else came out and said "May I help you?" I explained that we had been waiting there since 9 for breakfast and she said they had shut the kitchen down. Greatly perturbed, we returned to our room. 10 minutes later they sent a sheepish looking young girl up who apologized and said no one realized we were there. She said they expected us to walk into the kitchen and announce ourselves? As I said, we were clear on what time they were to expect us, and a staff member walked right by us while we were waiting. Julie and Mike are amazing hosts! You won't be disappointed if you stay here! Booked this to ski at Okemo for a few days and we will definitely be back! The service and hospitality is unmatched! Super cozy cute place and absolutely amazing and unique breakfasts! Cute rooms to eat breakfast in also. The baked goods were also delicious! We stayed in the Cornelia room which we loved. Large updated shower and renovated bathroom. Small fireplace and TV. Very comfortable bed, sheets, and blankets! Tea and coffee available also. Fresh coffee in the morning and Keurig coffee other parts of the day. Shared fridge space was also appreciated. Games and books are available in the lobby area which would be a nice place to spend some time although we really enjoyed the room. Stay here when in Okemo!! Welcomed in by Julie from our longer than expected 13 mile stroll. Her offer of ginger honey lemonade was perfect. Ahhhhh. A dip in the immaculate pool before dinner was so necessary. My fiancé and I had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Golden Stage Inn. Julie and Mike made you feel like you were staying at your Mom's house. They were extremely welcoming and very helpful when recommending different options for food. The room we stayed in was extremely clean and the tub with jets was a great way to end the long day of skiing, especially with the bath salts they provided. One of the best parts of this B&B was the food. Each morning we woke up to the smell of something cooking. We started the morning with a fresh coffee and a two-course meal. The first course was always a yogurt with their honey and fresh fruit. The second course was either a pancake or an egg dish. We also came "home" to a fresh pot of soup and apple cider each night. My fiancé also loved the "Saturday Night Chocolate Cake" and endless cookie jar. This was only our second B&B experience and I know this place will be near impossible to beat! Love love love everything about this place . Mike and Julie are great and make everything so accommodating . Saturday night we enjoyed some homemade chocolate cake and fresh mulled cider while watching the fireplace. The beds are super comfortable with nice soft sheets and blankets. We stayed in the old stage room which was part of the original stage coach portion of the house. This room still had an antique feel to it but still had the essentials if needed like a TV (which we didn't really use) and a huge bathroom. My BF actually forgot his toothbrush and they had a bathroom kit with all these bathroom supplies for guests. Thank you again Mike and Julie . You two have made me a fan of bed and breakfast places. Julie-Lynn and Mike LITERALLY could not be more gracious hosts. I've stayed at many Bed & Breakfasts and have found oftentimes you are pretty much left to fend for yourself once check-in is complete. This is definitely not the case at The Golden Stage Inn. From the homemade soup and warm beverages upon arrival and Mike's chocolate cake on Saturday nights to the gourmet home-cooked two-course breakfast each morning, you truly feel like you are visiting with family (if your family was right out of a Norman Rockwell painting and were highly skilled at cooking and baking). The room itself was clean, warm, cozy and well-appointed with all the essentials, and the bed was perfectly firm but comfy. The delicious chocolate maple truffles waiting for me on my pillow after I returned from the day's adventures was a lovely and delicious touch as well. All of that aside, the highlight for me was the resident pups, Nelly and Maizy, as I am a "crazy dog lady"--but for those with allergies, worry not, as they never step foot in the rooms. While I'm not a skier, this location is a straight 10-minute drive to Okemo, which is super convenient for those who want to avoid the bland and ridiculously expensive stay at the mountainside hotels. Since my trip, I'm looking for reasons to return to this charming inn, and plan to do just that when the weather warms, and the many beautiful nature trails and kayaks start calling out to me. read more

Where do I begin? Julie and Michael will make your experience the most relaxing and welcoming here. I've stayed here with my girlfriends a couple of times and with my husband and each time has been a treat. I'm obsessed with their afternoon apple cider, minestrone soup, the Saturday night chocolate cake and bottomless cookie jar. I also have been purchasing my bed sheets through them. I love that they are beekeepers and make their own honey! My girlfriends and I are guilty of wiping them out clean of their honey stash! And of course the included breakfast is quite scrumptious. I looked over a large amount of B&B's in the Okemo & Killington area and settled on calling a few up to inquire about winter ski packages & GSI was the best of the bunch. First off, Mike booked my reservation and gave me the down low in terms of different pricing options. Julie called me back to confirm a week from our date of arrival & looked into other more cost effective routes for ski deals besides what was already available. The B&B looks pretty much like what they posted on their website. I gotta hand it to Julie & Mike, the place has charm & comfort all rolled into one! I really loved our bed in the room we booked - I've been to quite a few B&B's where the bed squeaked and was lop-sided when you moved and this definitely was more like a nice hotel bed!!! The shower despite being small, it was clean with great water pressure. Downstairs in the common area they had a ton of stuff to keep you occupied: lots of non electronic games, kaleidoscopes, books, cookies, beverages, and a really warm fire place for you to enjoy all of these things together! The dining area for breakfast had a very nice touch as well - it was located in the sunroom where you could bask in the warm morning sun! Julie & Mike as other's have mentioned are extremely detail oriented (they have an emergency kit for things you may have left behind), responsive (we were observing Lent & they were able to remember & accomodate our dietary restrictions), as well as thoughtful hosts. In terms of food, the two would cook up delicious breakfasts with tons of delicious fruit with incorporations of their own home grown honey and then there was a 2nd course breakfast selection to add some savoriness to the mix! There was always beverages & home made yummy cookies to enjoy! One day they had fresh mulled apple cider - delicious!!! We left GSI well rested, well fed, and most importantly extremely satisfied! We will most certainly come back and recommend this amazing little gem to others! read more

I looked around for at least a full day trying to find a B&B that had ski packages for Valentine's weekend - and I finally came across Golden. My lucky day!! We were greeted by super friendly Julie and Mike. They made us feel right at home and Julie even carried my big huge heavy bag up to our room. We stayed in Georges. OOOOO the comfy bed and sheets - we are still considering ordering a pair of those wonderful sheets! Everything was clean, comfy, cozy and we loved the TV in the room. They left us a welcome bag and a thank you for staying goodie, Julie printed off maps for us and was always available for suggestions. Such thoughtful owners! We had hot soup waiting for us everyday we came home from skiing, not to mention the hot cider and bottomless cookie jar that was always around. Oh and let's not forget the yummy chocolate cake on Saturday night. The breakfasts were lovely as well! I was staying in Ludlow with friends and it happened to be my birthday. When my mother asked for recommendations of a local bakery to get a cake, they insisted on making one for me! We just spent a night at the Golden Stage Inn B&B in Proctorsville, VT, and were so impressed with this inn and the new owners, I had to take the time to write. Mike and Julie Wood are clearly so thrilled to be the new owners of this inn. They're friendly, welcoming, helpful and they pay attention to detail. We were there to meet up with family and do some skiing. The location was perfect and the accommodations ideal for a family get-together. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and we were able to gather in the living room in the evening while another group had the dining room, and we all had plenty of room and privacy. It didn't hurt that Saturday night was chocolate cake night at the Inn! Breakfast was excellent, and Julie provided soup and cider and cookies during the day. My husband and I stayed at the Golden Stage Inn from a Sunday to Friday and had a lovely time. Julie and Mike were wonderful hosts! The two course breakfast varied every day and was delicious. We looked forward to Julie's homemade soups in the afternoon - and the hot cider and cookies! Our only regret is we weren't there on a Saturday for the chocolate cake! We had the Otis Room (recently remodeled) and it was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets were definitely "Comphy Sheets". The bathroom had a Bain bubble tub which was enjoyed apres skiing. This room also had two chairs. I enjoyed the downstairs living room... great daylight to read or knit. The room had nice gas fireplace to keep you cozy. We have enjoyed traveling to many B&Bs over the years and I rank this one the nicest that I have stayed in. I was there over four days for a plein air oil painting workshop. The rooms were unique and lovely. The home cooked breakfast was great every morning and I particularly loved Mike's Saturday afternoon chocolate cake, to go along with the toll house cookies out at all times. This is a very belated review of a lovely B&B! We spent a couple of days at the Golden Stage Inn last August for our anniversary. It was a delightful stay in every way. We were made to feel quite comfortable as well as very well-fed! The room was charming, as were the public areas. The food was delicious! (We originally had planned to ski in April at Okemo and had to cancel when our dog tore her ACL. Fortunately, Julie was nice enough to let us use our deposit for the August stay; so many people wouldn't!) We had a wonderful time and hope to return this year for some spring skiing! read more

Mike and Julie are the perfect hosts. Warm, welcoming, and attentive, they will do anything in their power to make your stay perfect. The inn itself is lovely. The rooms are immaculate. The food is absolutely delicious. Other reviews have talked about the chocolate cake, bottomless cookie jar, and sheets that are so "Comphy" that you will order a set for home, so I will say this. My husband and I went to the inn for our honeymoon. We are going back for our first anniversary and we're bringing both sets of parents with us to celebrate their respective 50th anniversaries. The inn offers discounts for both 50th anniversaries and frequent customers. My husband and I were going back either way, but now we can share all of this with our folks. Julie & Mike are who I want to be when I grow up. Or at least who I wanted to be before I went on a completely different career track -- but that's another story. If I ever have an Inn I would want it be exactly like this one. Historic building, easily found, great food, comfortable beds, cozy public spaces, yummy cookies and chocolate cake on Saturdays. Also a great shower with plenty of hot water --we were in the Beehive Suite which accommodates parents in one room and kids in another with single beds. My two daughters (10 & 13) took full advantage of the cookies (cookie appetizers at breakfast), chess set and fireplace -- never once asking to watch TV. My youngest even found a kindred spirit one evening and happily shared and learned numerous tricks and traps for the online game "Minecraft" while her parents chilled and sipped hot tea. We sadly only stayed 3 nights -- we could have easily stayed longer (we were up for a few days of skiing at Okemo). My kids made me promise that we can go back next year. For now we are enjoying Golden Stage Inn honey in our tea at home. Go --- you'll be happy you did. read more
