My husband asked me to try and order a typewriter from this company and I decided to read through all the reviews while I was waiting for another company to answer their phone (Union Supply Direct, 27 minutes already). I am so glad that I read through the reviews because I will definitely not order from this company. I had 3 airline tickets purchased using my credit card in Mexico the day after shopping with Golden State Care Packages. Die thieves!!!!

Every time I have ordered a package from this place, I had fraud committed on my card within24 hrs! The only person worth dealing with was Teresa and she is no longer there. They never get the orders right, if you order a large you are bound to get an extra large or a medium. I have sent back 2 different pairs of boxer briefs and yet they failed to send the correct size on both occasions. It's not rocket science to give the customer what they ordered and payed for. SORRY GOLDEN STATE I WILL NO LONGER DO BUSINESS WITH A FRAUDULENT COMPANY, that can't even get basic orders right and 2 attempts later it's still wrong. I will gladly take my business to Access or WALKENHORST, I have never had a bad experience with either company. read more

If I could give negative stars I would, my hubby and I thought we'd give this place the benefit of the doubt aside from all the negative reviews. Boy were we wrong!!! I will NEVER order from this place again, I have attempted twice, first time I called had stock of an item then boom not available anymore, had to cancel. This last time I was waiting for 2 weeks, they said they had to order an item from the vendor to call back Wednesday, I call back and the order is already at the facility missing the item we asked them to hold the order for, no phone call no apology no nothing! To be honest at first it was a little hard to get a hold of them, due primarily to my schedule. I was able to get in touch with Romi. She was extremely helpful. She went above & beyond helping me through the web - as well as walking me through an issue I didn't understand. She even stayed on the phone with me as I looked through the web for a different item, then finished up my very quickly with knowledge of me needing to get to work. she was very understanding of all my concerns helping me feel much more confident. Knowing your loved one can't do anything you want everything to be perfect- to be honest I've read all the other reviews I was a little nervous that my very good friend wanted to use this company but after talking with them and working through everything I am very happy that we went through Golden State thank you very much will see you next quarter! read more

I just recently purchased a package from them. I used my Discover card which I never use and had zero balance. All of a sudden somebody got my numbers most likely from that company and decided they would go order a Gucci watch from Bloomingdales. Luckily Bloomingdale's and my Discover card called me. I will never give them my number again I'll order through another company read more

You know what I like about this company? They have authentic Jordan and Nike products! We are willing to wait for customizing of the package to have some 'comforts of home'. I can get the basics from the canteen, not use my quarterly package privileges. The products are all high quality products. We are so happy with this company; I don't know what the others are talking about. The company is more than fair and the customer service is far above other companies. WARNING!!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR CREDIT CARD. I GIVE THEM BELOW 1 STAR IF I COULD!!! I never thought about doing a review on them, but after I have been pressured to place an order with them for the 2nd time, I then located this yelp review. This company is a scam and it's true what all the reviewers are saying. I too used a visa card that I had not used in over a year with a zero balance. I used my card which had a high limit to place a order. Almost everything I input on their website came up as unavailable except a few items. I then called to complain and was told to provide the reference # and they could put it in on their side (this was on a Wednesday) they put in all the items I asked for then asked for my credit card info, not thinking anything was going to happen to my card. Well on Friday they went to town on my card and order a Chanel Purse, MAC Cosmetics, lots of items from Walgreens.com and several other purchases. My credit card company called, text and emailed me by Saturday asking about the charges. Of course I did not place no other orders and new exactly the company that did this fraud on my account. There was the Rep that answered the phone then she had to get her Manager on the phone, I believe her name may have been Lisa (probably a fraud name) but I believe it was the so called Manager that used my card, you can tell they were probably in their 20's very early 30's, the package also took forever to get to my family member. I have never used them since and I even called to complain but they act stupid when you call. SO I REFUSE TO ORDER FROM THEM!!! Yes, Golden State CP has a really nice catalog, however, yes there is the problem with CC fraud and really long time for the shipment of your order. You can't get direct number to the warehouse, but they don't give you any information if your desirable items are in stock before you ordered them. Basically, you could get the refund, but not your items that you chose for your loved ones. read more

Spoke to David a supervisor and he sent the inmate a CD player that you can't turn all the way up because our order was on hold for 4 weeks. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I purchase a package for my son and this company sent tennis shoes that had been worn, and a style they don't even carry in their catalog AND deodorant which was open and used, with an arm pit hair left in the stick, a long with sending sun glasses that were the cheaper pair than the ones I paid for. Those items were sent back to Golden State along with my multiple phone calls and complaints. I gave them plenty of opportunity to make this right and send the correct items. After over 9 weeks of dealing with this, I finally get a phone call and they inform me that they got the correct shoes in and they are sending them out to my son. I asked about the other items, the woman said she would check with the warehouse and if they had the correct items, they would send them, otherwise give me a refund for those items. Then 6 days later I get an email that I had a refund, with no description of what the refund was for. I called and they informed me that they didn't send anything. So the woman lied to me who called and said they were sending the shoes. The biggest issue is.... my son has only had his wildland fire fighting boots and his shower shoes in Northern CA IN THE SNOW!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Use Walkenhorst - they are great and will even send you an email with a tracking number so you can see where your package is. Something that Golden State doesn't do. This company IS terrrrrrrible. I ordered a package and they took the money out of my account a couple days later. 3 WEEKS LATER I found out the package was not sent because my loved one asked me where the package was. ( I thought the package was sent because they debited my account). So I called Golden State Packages to report the issue, none of the service reps knew why my oder was being held. I called and waited for an answer for about a week. No one helped me, so then I started to ask for a Supervisor each time I called. I was told there was no supervisor, the supervisor would call me back, that a note would be left on the Supervisors desk so they could call me back... These are all different days..THE SUPERVISOR NEVER CALLED ME BACK, NEVER. I was so fustrated I told them to send the package as is, and refund me for " whatever" was missing. The package arrived to the facility 4 1/2 weeks after I placed the order and they debited my account. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM.... When I contacted the company they stated the package had been returned for no reason. After verifying they had sent it to the correct address I was given the choice of re sending for an additional $13.90 or processing a refund. I chose the refund and was then told I would be charged for shipping $13.90 plus a 10% restocking fee!! What a scam. I informed them I would be opening a dispute with my card company and was informed that our inmate would not be able to receive packages from them until it was paid. I filed the dispute. Why did I get a huge envelope with tons of priority boxes in it. I have no idea who they are or why they would send it to me or why they would have the name of my business. It's disturbing. Each time I ordered an item out of stock or discontinued, I had to start over - frustrating. When package had not arrived I called customer service. FAQ on website states they would tell you date shipped and date received - not true. They assured me package had shipped but could not tell me when or if received. I get the feeling this is a garage shop operation. I will not use again. read more

I have placed an order with this company and all I can say is I'm more than glad I came to them to order stuff for my loved ones. On the phone, they were so easy to talk to and took their time assisting me with my needs or any questions I had, and were very understanding.
