Very solid Thai food along the port of Friday Harbor. We ordered takeout and enjoyed everything we had Food: We had the Pad Thai, Green Curry, Spicy Basil Sauce Chicken, and Bangkok Fried Rice. Everything was great but the Pad Thai and Green Curry were especially good, and the Bangkok Fried Rice came with a quantity of seafood. All of the portions were large and the green curry did some with a side of rice. Service: The phone order process was smooth and was about a 45 min wait since the restaurant was busy at the time (Thursday night). Nicely decorated contemporary Asian interior. Lots of soft lighting, very cozy. It's a small restaurant with seating for parties up to 6. I had the spicy basil noodles with fried tofu. Lots of veggies with a kick of heat at the end. One person in our group ordered the Lard Nar because he has never seen this on a menu before. Lots of veggies and tofu in a soup type broth with hints of barbecue flavor. Another person ordered the Larb tofu. Similar to a chicken salad only with tofu and rice. The portions were large. Came in for a quick dinner. I ordered the Pad Thai with a heat level of 3 stars. It was pretty spicy for 3 stars but not unmanageable. The texture of the noodle was great. It first came out al dente but as you continued to eat the noodles developed to a texture I really enjoy with rice noodles. Service was a little on the slower end but there was only 1 person working the front. This restaurant is a little gem. We ate a number of mediocre meals in Friday Harbor, but this was the best inexpensive meal we had. The pad Thai was lovely. Really good for island food. The chicken egg roll was perfect with a lot of fresh cabbage. The eggplant and pork was delicious. The orange chicken was decent. You can ask for a side of fresh chili. The only reason I went to this place was because it was one of the only places in Friday Harbor that was open at 6:00 PM on a Wednesday evening. Luckily, it wasn't all that bad! I ordered a double plate of Pad Thai (rice noodles, bean sprouts, egg and peanuts with tamarind sauce). It was alright! I can make a pretty mean Pad Thai and I've eaten some out-of-this-world stuff before so this version didn't quite deliver the punch I was hoping for. Was in Friday Harbor for a few days and was desperately craving something soupy for a cool wet day. We stumbled upon this Thai restaurant and was a bit suspicious of a Thai restaurant in a tourist town such as this. We were immediately greeted and seated in the cozy restaurant towards the closing time. Ordered the spicy basil stir fried noodles and a large bowl of wonton soup. They came out promptly and were both delicious. The noodles were bright and fresh and also spicy--but not too spicy. It was filled with veggies not sauce. He was extremely condescending in his tone and incessantly called me buddy (full grown male btw). They called pad thai pad see ew, (wrong noodles) and the chicken satay was dryer than the Sahara, 1/10. "Pad see ew" was heavy on the fish sauce and way light on the allium, 5/10. It's like Panda Express, except the food is really good and authentic. Personable service. I had the mee wonton, which was so delicious because it had shrimp wontons (no pork, just shrimp. I recently spent 5 days in Friday Harbor, and love to sample restaurants. I ate here twice because the food was so good. The first time I ordered stuff that was "spicy" 3 stars and it was very well flavored but not spicy. When I mentioned this to others it was pointed out GTT uses a 1-10 star spiciness rating system. No wonder 3 stars was not spicy. Had to go back and see if asking for more heat would make the flavor balance between hot and spicy at the right level. YES! We tried 3 dishes at 5, 7 and 8. 5 was still too mild, but the 7 and 8 levels were just yummy for a hot spice lover. In particular the Suki Thai Soup, was fabulous. Add to that the very pleasant waitress and the even more friendly assistant who responded to the question "Are you from here" with "No, I'm from Shaw Island" and we all had a wonderful time. I recently found myself in Friday Harbor and craving Thai food - luckily Yelp led me to Golden Triangle. This tiny corner spot has adapted well to Covid, switching to takeout only and featuring a quick-serve buffet of their more popular dishes. So if you're in a hurry, they'll have your to-go container full of Thai goodness and you'll be out the door in no time. However, I was craving Tom Yum which they had to make for me in the back. I ordered it with shrimp and 4 stars (their scale is 1-10) and a side of jasmine rice. A few minutes later my order was packaged and ready to take back to my hotel, where I soon dug in. Omg it was delicious! Some of the best Tom Yum I've had. It was full of fresh ingredients (no canned mushrooms as is so often found in this dish) and the serving was plentiful. It was more than enough to carry me through the lunch hour. The spice level was perfect, and there were more shrimp than I've ever seen in a Tom Yum. Usually you're lucky to get 4 shrimp, this one had at least 8-10 large ones! The service here was really friendly too. Yay, I'm glad we could find good asian food in Friday Harbor! The restaurant is conveniently located 2 blocks away from the Ferry, next to an ice-cream shop and across the street from King Market. It has both indoor and outdoor seatings. What makes this place stand out are: - good food (we had Pad Thai $15 and Phanh Sine Platter $14. They taste pretty authentic but the Pad Thai can be less soggy) - relaxed ambience (there is soft music on the background) - generous portions (I couldn't finish my Pad Thai and ended up eating the rest for our next meal) - self-serve sauce bar (You can adjust the taste for your preference. Wanted to like this place but after trying a few bites of different dishes I wanted to take the whole dinner for two back. The chicken pad Thai was tasteless and dry--both the noodles and the chicken. I took one bite and the chicken left powdery crumbles in my mouth. I had ordered the fried rolls and they had hardly any flavor. I used their sauce to get down two bites. The walnut shrimp had a modicum of flavor but after two shrimp I could not eat more. Pleasing kang ped (red curry) -- similar to results you'd at home with decent curry paste and coconut milk (e.g. Mae Ploy) and a small sprinkling of makrut lime leaves. Bracingly sweet, almost candy-like, pad thai. Not a trace of egg, peanut, fish sauce, or wok flavour. Not recommended. Som tum had OK flavour - somewhat zesty and spicy - but rather macerated, mushy texture. Better thought of as a papaya and cabbage slaw than a Thai papaya salad. Both pad thai and som tum tasted like they were prepared in large batches well in advance, and left to sit. Enormous portions for COVID takeout. Food prepared exactly on time. You're really rooting for one of the few non-American/European options on the islands, but overall it's hard not to feel like they could be doing a bit better. read more

My wife has been wanting to attend a Thai restaurant for a while. We seen this on the island and decided to try it out. When you walk in you choose what you want which is fine. But they never ask you the spice level that you prefer. Normally it's a scale of 1-10 but nothing. It's a buffet and they select your food for you. Then they charge my card and have problems with it due to a communication error. So I had to leave and get cash out which was not a start of a pleasant experience. Then finally pay and come back and the noodles were ready but not the rice. It was alright. If you're seeking real tai stay away from here. read more

Cold to the bone after doing a Zodiac (RIB) Trash Run in the rain, from our cabin on Stuart Island. Got to the Ferry Queue with an hour to spare. Normally we are waterfront diners and there is great food her in Friday Harbor with a view of the water traffic and ferry activity. But, we had 1 hour and decided to walk up (not down) to eat. This place was 1 of 3 restaurants within 50 feet that were meh...available to try. So we asked, "can we order, eat and leave in 45?"..."Yes sir we can" came the sweet and credibly accented reply. I saw that a special Soup was a handwritten specialty and seeing coconut milk in it I said "why not"... The spirited joy on the face of our waitress that followed my interest in the soup and her challenged English explanation sold me. "The noodles are from the town that I'm from and my mom makes it real good!! It will give you warm inside!" Delivered in a steaming bowl was a Perfect, Simply Amazing, deep layers of authentic flavor in the broth that lingered on the tongue and burned in the best of ways warming the whole body. There were 2 boiled drumsticks that made a chicken yawner take notice. The most tender and flavorful bite of chicken I have ever enjoyed. I actually heard myself say to my wife, until I am in a nursing home or until this place is no more, I will want to take a ferry ride to Friday Harbor, in the Winter, at least once to eat this Soup!!! "Kao Soi" or something like that...it seemed she said "COW SOY" but, I was blown away. ...and now I am warm...back in our van...hitched to a trash-filled Tender...waiting for the ferry...with plenty of time.
