    A perfect view!

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! The food is out of this world delicious! Five star service. Beautiful ambiance. Awesome view of the river and ponte vecchio. Must make a reservation!!

Everything about this restaurant was fantastic. First off, we were there for a rehearsal dinner and our view for dinner was the Ponte Veccio-truly spectacular! The wine was great and abundant and the food was delicious. The staff was super attentive as well. I did not understand the bed placed en route to the bathroom (very strange) but the restaurant was beautiful anyway!

Have to agree with other reviewers, the service here was not good. The young lady with blond hair who was our server definitely had a snotty attitude. Took a while to get drinks and bread. When she came with our food it was almost thrown at us. She was very nice to the table next to us who were some Italian celebrities. We were just tourists, so we obviously didn't make her cut. Ok got that off my chest. The food was delicious but more style than substance if you weren't having pasta. I had the lamb dish and it was very good. Overall the place seemed to be pretentious. A place to be seen rather than be served with grace. I wouldn't recommend eating here

Great ambiance and view of the Ponte Vecchio! Good bread (which is rare) and good soup but some other dishes were slightly bland -- add pecorino cheese!

After visiting the Giardino di Boboli, my girlfriend and I stopped in here for lunch. This restaurant was recommended in Rick Steves' Florence and Tuscany guidebook. We probably wouldn't have given this place a chance if Rick Steves hadn't recommended it. It's a modern and trendy bistro with an amazing view of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno. Without his recommendation, we would have thought it's another tourist trap. Glad that we checked out this place. Their food was great but I wouldn't call it amazing. The view, on the other hand, was just stunning; it almost makes you feel they built Ponte Vecchio just for you. Both their food and service were also solid. I will definitely come back here when I visit Florence next time. Disclaimer: I visited Golden View Open Bar around this time last year (mid-September 2015). It took me one whole year before writing this review, but I thought it's important to share this information since it is a challenge to find a great restaurant in Florence. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my reviews. Overall: ok, nothing special for the price that you pay... Food: ordered pasta oxtail bolognese as a recommendation from the waiter...dish was waaaaay too salty! Couldn't eat all the meat since it was so salty Service: lacking...restaurant wasn't that busy and always needed to waive down the waiver Ambiance Nice atmosphere by the water...so probably paying high price for the location Wouldn't go out of my way to go back...probably much better places to eat without having to pay the price!

My sister has been eyeing this place for a couple of weeks. Since she's studying abroad for the semester she has been trying to find nice places to go that are a mix of good food and elegance. While the place was elegant, the food was 1/10 for 3/4 individuals at our table. Specifically for me I ordered the Black Tail Salmon that was supposed to come with almonds (I counted precisely 2 1/2 almonds). The salmon was lox pieces and salad consisted of romain leaves. I couldn't even taste the lemon dressing. In addition, I asked for no cheese due to an allergy and the server brought it anyways because "it's good for you". Good view but definitely not coming here again.

Seriously!Do not come! I am a tourist and I think One star is too much for Golden View Open Bar. I strongly advise everyone not to go! First of all, the waiter's attitude is particularly bad! I ordered the steak three times and said it very clearly. The result did not come for an hour. Also I ordered a 36 euro shrimp, 5 shrimp, half a baked eggplant, especially not delicious to eat. Also the view is just so so for me, on the bridge the view is better than 1000 times. Do not come to this restaurant please. If you have other choice, do not choose golden view open bar! The worst time in the journey.

. This is a sandwich turned into a pizza . Burrata and mortadella pizza Definitely best place to eat with the view to ponte Vecchio.

After a train ride to Florence we worked up an appetite. We walked to Ponte Vecchio and ate lunch at Golden View Open Bar. We started with the buffalo mozzarella cheese pizza. The pizza dough is cooked and the uncooked buffalo mozzarella cheese, basil and tomatoes are added on top. Definitely best place to eat with the view to ponte Vecchio. . . . . . . #florence #lunch #firenze #pizza #buffalo #cheese #tomatoes #pontevecchio #basil #goldenview #bread #foodie #ilovefood #foodoftheday #foodshare #foodgram #foodies #foodlover #delicious #PHAAT #feedfeed #goodlife #livelife #eeeeeat #shotoniphone

The food is good but you are really paying for the view. The portions were small for the price and the service wasn't great. Overall, I would say that it is worth visiting for a fancy dinner in Florence but there are better whole in the wall restaurants!

    Michaela C.

Don't do it... I'm a tourist for sure but this is a tourist trap. As we look around everyone is from the states. The food tastes mass produced. Not to mention the bugs. Nasty. Also the view... you are on the wrong side of the bridge so you don't get a sunset view. You are below the highest point of the bridge so you see nothing! They also include a 12% service charge.

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

Waiter was super friendly, taking time to explain their wines in detail and food options. They even have a kids menu with sizeable portions for older kids. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it was definitely the best wine we had with meals in Florence. Gnocchi and wild boar taglietelle were outstanding. Had we had come earlier in our stay we might have come back again They also do a wine window which I wish I'd known about earlier because the other one we tried for fun was not good

We ate here on our first night in Florence and spent the rest of our trip talking about it. In fact, we came back to Florence a night early from Cortona and tried our luck at getting another table. They were completely packed and couldn't fit us in, which honestly tells you everything you need to know. If you want to eat here, make a reservation. You might get lucky if you show up right when they open, but Florence seems to get busier every year and I wouldn't count on it. The atmosphere is exactly what you hope for when you picture a fun night in Florence--great music, laughter, conversation, shared tables, excellent wine, and people genuinely enjoying themselves. It's lively without feeling touristy and somehow manages to feel both energetic and intimate at the same time. Our server, Lorenzo, was phenomenal. He helped us select a bottle of 2021 Vigna del Sorbo Chianti Classico, which ended up being my favorite wine of the entire trip. We started with buttered toast and anchovies. It sounds incredibly simple, but it was one of the most memorable bites we had in Italy. We shared the duck ragù pasta, lasagna, osso buco, and lamb chop. Every dish was excellent, but the duck ragù and lamb were standouts. We finished with a raspberry tiramisu that was the perfect ending to the meal. The food was fantastic, the wine was fantastic, the service was fantastic, and the ambiance was everything you could want. P.S. If you can't get in, don't panic--the restaurant across the street is also very good. But if you can get a table here, do it.

We chatted with the table next to us on the way out and met some fellow Texans! On our way out, the owner also remembered my name and started introducing me to other tables to make friends. What a fun place to be! The food was absolutely amazing. When we saw them slicing the salami right in front of us, we decided to order the salami plate and we were so glad we did! The zucchini flower and saffron pasta was bursting with flavor and the pasta was so perfectly cooked. I couldn't get enough! The duck ragu pasta was also hearty, rich, and delicious. The sauce was so good, my family soaked up every last bit with our bread. The ricotta spinach ravioli was also amazing!! Again the sauce was such a standout. The ravioli was so fresh with the perfect amount of bite. The green pepper sauce steak was soooo good. Cooked perfectly, with such a unique sauce that the whole peppercorns added perfectly to in texture and spice. Finally, the raspberry tiramisu. We were so full, but when they set these down our dessert stomachs were ready. They were amazing! Not the strongest raspberry flavor, but still such a delicious end to the meal. Side note, you MUST have a reservation to eat here, and they only take reservations by call. Because I didn't have a way to call them, I asked my Airbnb hosts who did it for me (also amazing people). While we were eating, there was a crowd forming outside of people waiting to get in but unable to. It's so worth it to visit Vini e Vecchi Sappori! I'll definitely have to come back next time I'm in Florence.

On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.
