Meh, it's just okay. Nothing to write home about. Classic wingettes and drumettes fried in probably unhealthy oils. I have to admit, I really didn't feel like cooking so the mister and I stopped by for a tray and rice. I ate here once when I moved here over 13 years ago and haven't been back since this recent visit. I even cut back on Chubbies and Popeyes and fry my own chicken at home. They are very popular with the majority of customers being of my persuasion, go figure. We are slowly killing ourselves eating this stuff all of the time but it was a long arduous day and cooking was the last thing I wanted to do. You're definitely going for the chicken And a heads up they cut the wings in half so a half a wing counts as a whole wing. When you get a 8 piece you really getting four whole wings. If you can switch out the rice do that because the rice isn't it. The service is straightforward. You walk up, you order what you want and you wait and you get it. Nothing special about it. The ambiance is the same. There are chairs so you can sit and wait for your tray to be called. I would say if you go here, just order the chicken. Try another side because the rice is a miss. They still asked to be masked while you order and no one can eat inside which was fine by us because we had to hit the road. We knew we wanted wings but want sure what to order. I was informed that this was the same owners of 7th Wards Man Chu, so I was definitely eager to come here. For those of you that do not know, Man Chu is known for mighty tasty fried chicken wings. You know that this place is quite busy because their is a sign informing people that they do not have to pre-order food, but if they must pre-order, they will only accept orders up to one day in advance. I opted to order a 50 piece fried wings and a large combo fried rice. The combo rice has shrimp, ham and chicken in it. I'll let you know this, the taste is definitely Man Chu. These are the well fried and well flavored fried wings that made the 7th Ward location quite popular. The rice is worth your time as well. I will also tell you that these two establishments have no relationship to each other! The taste is so similar to whereas I understand the confusion. There are three flavors to choose from: regular seasoned wings, hot (Buffalo), or barbecue. My favorite is their regular seasoned wings. I was here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. I'm talking line out the door, people inside waiting on their order packed. I took this as a good sign, so I hopped in line and got ready to order at the window. I got the 14 piece chicken combo which comes with fries and a salad. It was a little over $10 which was perfect because there's a $10 minimum on cards. After you order they give you a number and you sit and wait. On this day the wait was about 15 minutes, because of the crowd, but that wasn't a problem. When my number was called I got my food and I was on my way. The chicken itself is tasty and really generous. There was an even mix of wings and legs and I enjoyed it. The fries weren't anything spectacular and the salad was just lettuce, so next time I might skip the combo and get the 14 piece for $8 deal.
