Her consistent quality, detailed consultation, and broad knowledge has meant that she has always done an amazing job despite my fussy hair texture and poorer haircare habits. He's a great listener and super skilled with the scissors-- I've been seeing him for years and we've been through pixies, bobs and bangs. These days he's giving me the most amazing shags that are fun and easy to maintain. He gave me a haircut in March that managed to look great at every stage of grow out until I got a cut today. 4 months for a short cut?! That's unheard of. I went to Goldline to get a haircut by @guyhamelhair and I was one of those clients with a photo wanting a specific cut since my COVID hair was so long I figured it's time for some style. First of all the salon is safer than any public place I've been. The hand sanitizer smelled so good too! Thanks Heather! Ana was another stylist there and she was super cool. I wish I could give this place a million stars. But honestly, I would love any salon that Candice works at. I followed Candice over from Jet Rhys, luckily because I just so happened to ask for her email right before she left Jet so I was able to track her down. The salon is great. It's really easy to find, there's plenty of free street parking with no time limits, and it's in a quiet neighborhood. The salon is really clean and nice, they serve you any drink that you want (the first time I was there, we had champagne), and they play great music. All the stylists seem really nice and friendly and like they really enjoy their work. All the stylists seem like they must do great work because from what I saw, all the clients who came in were repeat, regular customers. But for me, I will always go to Candice. I literally waited a year in between haircuts because I don't live in SD and I only wanted Candice to cut my hair so I had to wait until I was in SD to get a cut. I brought in a picture this time to show her and give her an idea of what I wanted, and then kind of just described in pretty general terms. But I have had her cut my hair without showing her a picture and just describing what I wanted and she did an excellent job then. Anyway, Candice always does an amazing job because she takes her time and she really tries to figure out what you want. The best part of her haircuts is that they grow out amazingly well. I literally can go a year in between haircuts and my hair still looks good. Of course, it looks amazingly better AFTER Candice cuts it, but still, I love that I can wait so long between haircuts if I want. This time, I also got my hair colored. I have really dark, almost black asian hair and I brought in a picture of a girl with ombre hair that was almost ashy blonde at the tips. And this brought out another aspect of Candice that I love. She really cares about your hair. She told me frankly that if I tried to get my hair to that color too fast, it would kill my hair and that she could do it for me in stages to preserve the quality of my hair. So for this first session, she only did a full head of highlights that only slightly lightened my hair and they are literally gorgeous. They blend incredibly well with my hair and now I'm super excited for June when I can go in again for the next stage. Anyway, Candice is amazing. My cut and color are amazing. I LOVE this place. I've been going here for about a year or so and have great experiences each time. It's designed well on the inside, they actually have the most comfortable chairs where you get your hair washed that I have ever sat in and they have a great selection of products. I have been a customer of Candice's for about 3 years now and as soon as I found out she was switching salons from Jet Rhys to Goldline I transferred as well and couldn't be more happier about it. She is the best stylist I have ever had and can't imagine going to anyone else, although I do hear the whole staff is very qualified. I really love Goldline Salon. It's inviting, has great music, local beer on tap, and succulents peppering the whole place. Where to start about this place. First, Heather is the best hair stylist in the entire world. She has a true gift and talent. I will never let anyone else cut my hair and will fly down to San Diego just to have an appointment with her. Not only is she always on point, she knows how to cut and color every type of hair, whether it be curly, wavy straight, already colored, gray etc. I know this from personal experience :) I have been going to Heather for approximately 10 years. I've been in the market for a stylist since I moved to San Diego a year and a half ago. I've been to a few who have been okay, but every since I chopped my hair off, 'okay' wasn't/isn't good enough. A friend of mine recommended Heather at Goldline. Where do I even begin? She asked about my hair history (not surprising, I've got short bright red hair). I have gone to Brigid twice now for a brown-blonde balayage. She is by far the best hairstylist I have ever come into contact with. I have never experienced a hairstylist who is actually capable of taking your inspiration photo and turning your hair into something even better. She listened to everything that I wanted my hair to be, and gave me exactly that. Obviously, taking dark brown hair to light blonde is not the easiest process, and takes time, but both times I left that salon feeling the best I ever have about my hair. Melissa is incredible! It was my first time seeing her yesterday and I could not have been happier to find her. I told her last minute that I'd decided to chop off about 10 inches of hair and she was a great sport about it. Goldline needs 10 stars!!!! 5 isn't good enough for them! I should start by saying that I never write reviews on yelp but for this salon, I just had to tell everyone how absolutely hands down amazing this place is! First of all, about me, I am incredibly, super duper picky about my hair...who isn't really...but I take it to the next level of extreme. -Hair Hashem is responsible for the insanely gorgeous hair that I have. That's right, I said it! My hair is great!!! And it's because of Hashem. He gives the BEST wash and wear cuts and gives me amazing layers that I can't even describe. My hair is always voluminous, never flat, always healthy, and the best part is that I don't even have to style it. I don't know how he cuts it but for some reason when my hair grows out, it still looks great and I've been guilty in the past of letting it grow out for months before going back to cut it. I believe that an amazing stylist's haircut should look great long after it's been cut (especially if you're into wash and wear hair like me) and someone like that is soooo hard to find but Hashem has that art down to a T. -Color I also just started seeing Heather there too. I am still somewhat of a hair color virgin. I've only had my hair colored 3 times. The first time was at a very popular high end salon by a Master colorist and teacher of color. While I liked the way it came out I didn't love it-I'm super picky remember? The second time she did it I liked it even less. Hashem recommended I see Heather at Goldline and promised me that I would be in good hands. I'm not gonna lie...I was very scared to have someone else color my hair (even though I wasn't happy with the other lady, my hair was passable for decent color). I finally mustered up the courage to go to Heather and was practically shaking from nervousness while describing the color I wanted; a very California sun-kissed look that wasn't red or blonde. She listened to every one of my complicated details and took her time with me delivering beyond amazing results. She not only gave me everything I asked for in color, she made my hair look even better than what I had imagined! Needless to say, I was so happy I almost cried from joy! You know those Vidal Sassoon models with great hair color? Heather can do better than that, no lie. I would follow Hashem and Heather to the opposite end of the earth if they ever decided to move-although I hope they don't... -Salon Overall The salon itself is gorgeous; it's contemporary without being cold. It almost has a warm feeling to it most likely due to all the wonderful people that work there. Everybody, and I mean everybody, is so sweet. If you don't like them, then there is something wrong with you. Every piece of decor and detail of the salon obviously had a great deal of thought put into it, from the cups they use for drinks, down to the bathroom sink. Also, they give you wine or BEER! Yes! A salon that serves BEER guys! You can also choose from numerous teas and coffees; my husband got a cappuccino one time! It's all those little details that make you feel special while you're there and very sad to leave. As another reviewer mentioned, Goldline has the full line of Sachajuan hair products from Sweden and boy, those products are goooooood in every way. Heather took the time in her consultation to examine my hair texture, find out my particular concerns and goals with my visit, and gave me the subtle highlights that I wanted with a cut that makes the most of my wavy hair, using her expert skills to turn a pedestrian, neglected mop into something that not only looks good whether I 'do' it or not, but doesn't necessarily need another touch-up in two weeks to keep the lines stylish. Moment of honesty... I don't treat my hair nicely. Nope. I'm an abuser; a serial hair killer... The Ted Bundy of hair refinement! I color. I use cheap product. I wash, brush and go. No style. No care. Just a bun or a ponytail. Oh, and my hair is as long as bad blind date... And all one length... And the last time it was trimmed, my sister used kitchen shears. Even that was a while back; so far back in fact that the bottom five inches was just a broken mess of red tangled fuzz. This is great - uh, my old tattooed punk rock boyfriend apparently walked into Goldline and arranged for me to have a haircut. Apparently, he knew that I would put it off and keep putting it off, and decided that he needed to "expedite the process." So, there I was, hair outta the trademark bun, Ana lifting and analyzing the five-tons of split mistreated hair, my eyes cast down in shame, waiting for hair Armageddon. "So... where do you like to part it? Do you want to keep the length? What about this section around your face? I know you like to put it up... I'd like to take out some weight so it's not so heavy on your head." The consult was great, we laid out the plan and I felt we both had a clear picture of what I wanted. But come on... How many times have you thought THAT before!?!?!?! Whatever, what will be will be! To the sink! Wash my head! With good product! And the head massage followed by the hot towel! Followed by 2 1/2 HOURS of detangling and cutting and thinning and layering; scissors and razors and things I don't even know! THEN, dry it and cut it and razor it some more! It's a darned good thing Ana's such a sweetheart! We chatted the entire time... And when it was done, after allllllll that cutting, My hair looked happy and healthy and still really long, but with movement and lightness, so it didn't just hang limp and dead! It was precisely what she and I had talked about! Precisely! Ya know, I had joked at the onset of the appointment, "Make me look like a Victoria's Secret model; I'm sick of looking like an extra from the cast of Hair." DONE!!!!!! (well, maybe not exactly Victoria's Secret model... but I got the do!) Ana's the bestest ever! The salon is gorgeous! Everything, every fixture, every everything is top rate! Even the neighborhood! I love this salon. The people here are so friendly and the atmosphere is very chic and cool. Candice is the BEST at cutting hair and highlights. She's been my go-to stylist for the last few years. She really takes the time to listen to you about what you want and is great at giving suggestions. I have a hard time telling people what I want in a haircut and it is like she reads my mind and gives me the most wonderful, stupendous haircuts around, that even my mom loves (and my mom is extremely picky). I am so glad that I found Hashem and Goldline! I have been looking for a stylist since I moved to San Diego two years ago... My mom used to cut my hair for years. When she moved 11 years ago I was so desperate to find a good hairstylist. It took me a good 5 years to find Hashem. He is AMAZING!!!! My mom is moving back this year, and I will not depart from him (and her haircuts are free for me). He is educated, up with the latest techniques, and the best part he is so humble.
