THE BIG: Golds gym in north Pflugerville! Right above the Costco. Plenty of parking in the lot and right off of the frontage road. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I generally only come to this gym when my local gold's doesn't have a Golds Fit class and boy is this gyms class a good one. Dedicated space and good equipment. Rest of the gym includes the GGX cycle, gold's burn, yoga along with the countless machines and decent number of free weights. Tons of cardio machines ranging from treads to ellipticals to rowing machines. Bathrooms are relatively clean (as clean as a gym goes) and has a big sauna. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a very nice gym with tons of machines and classes. I'm a sucker for the Golds Fit class and I'm glad this gym has a good one. read more

This location recently hired a new front desk opener who's made punctuality seem optional. Most mornings, they roll in 5-15 minutes late, and about once a week, they don't show up at all. The kicker? There's only one set of keys...so a crowd of early risers (including trainers) are left waiting outside until the GM arrives nearly 40 minutes after opening. This is a newer Gold's, clean and well managed. I particularly like the Group Fitness classes and instructors which I do 3x a week. It's a suburban crowd with plenty of space. Pools at all Gold's are closed. They ought to use the space for something else. read more

LITERALLY GO ANYWHERE ELSE. I didn't realize just how awful this particular golds gym was until I went to a different location. Half the machines here are broken. Not only do other gyms NOT have a ton of broken machines, the nearest golds has a basketball court, cycle room, cardio theater, and a special women's workout room. Not to mention their bathroom is way nicer. This Kohl's has no additional features or perks. I think we just got the short straw when it came to Pflugerville golds. This particular gym should pay you to come work out here, it sucks that bad. Also, the staff here typically is nowhere to be found, and if you find them they ignore you. I recently came in And Miranda the old lady with piercings and tattoos was being a complete rude employee about my girls membership. She yelled at her like a damn fool She was disrespectful and asked if I was Yessenia, which is OBVIOUS I'm not and that's just being petty and dumb. I pay for the membership so I asked what it was, what was wrong with the account. She told to get out of her face. She threatened to have me removed and my membership revoked because I asked her if there was a payment that needed to be made. I stood there because she was talking crazy rude She found that all it was, her DOB missing. still being rude and in a loud tone of voice, She was cutting me off and not letting me talk. I told her all you had to do was tell us that instead of being a complete asshole about it, She got upset and tried to get even louder. It's NOT MY FAULT SHE WAS WORKING OUT INSTEAD OF DOING HER JOB. The other reviews are spot on. Management is terrible. My family of four was considering joining. In an effort to have my teens practice responsibility, we signed up for day passes so they could try out the facility and let me know if they were willing to commit. I had called before we went to check age limits. I was told by staff that 10 years was the minimum age. No problem for my older teens. We arrive with our passes in hand and are told that they can only be used for 18+. However, if I'd like to pay for a membership, my teens can go work out. So my teens are allowed to work out if we pay, but don't get to try the gym out first before signing up? The manager insisted the passes stated 18+. They did not. The manager insisted this was a corporate policy. It was not. In fact, the passes stated in the first sentence of the fine print that it was eligible for local age limits. No where did it mention an 18 year requirement and the wording clearly showed it was local policy and not corporate-wide. When I handed the pass to the manager to show him what it actually said, he refused to look at it and quickly tried to change the subject and back track. We left and worked out at home. Initially I was one of the only five star reviews. It's a great gym and the staff are there if you need them. I understand and appreciate rules. They're there for a reason and we are a nation of laws after all. When it comes to privately owned businesses, compassion and empathy can mean the difference in a loyal customer base or going out of business. Never had an issue with any of the employees when I brought my teenage son until recently. I'm aware there is the insurance thing but we also have a massive problem in the country with obesity and kids screen time. Why can't Golds offer a waiver or if you're a member, half the price for a child 12 and up? The gym down the street does and I am now a member there with my son and reluctantly cancelled my Golds membership. A little understanding and compassion goes a long way. In the end, Golds did me a favor by finding a better gym. Should Golds change the child policy, I would love to go back. Hell, they could even use it as a marketing campaign. "Get your kids off the iPads and onto the gym floor for an additional $5 a month" sign a waiver and that alleviates your "insurance" problem. I called Gold's Gym back in July to cancel my membership. I was given the option to freeze my account for 3 months and if I didn't change my mind before then, my account would be cancelled once the 3 months was up. I asked the lady multiple times to confirm that was the case and she insisted. Apparently, that was a lie. Then they pull the "well the conversation was on the phone so there's no written record so that can't be true" accusation. The staff, in general, is super rude and unprofessional. On top of that, during the midst of a global pandemic that is uncontrolled, they still require people to come to the gym to cancel. The Gold's Gym organization has zero ethics. It's appalling. Don't be suckered into doing business with them. It's not worth the hassle in the long run. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed this gym in the beginning of the year, not too packed or busy and very clean with great equipment. I had no complaints and actually preferred it over other gyms in the area. It has progressively declined since then. The toilets are always clogged and bathrooms feel really nasty. There has been a tarp up for more than 2 months, taking up a significant amount of space in the free weight section. The spray bottles and napkins are regularly empty. needs some help asap! read more

This is far and away the worst Gold's gym with a 512/737 area code. Believe you me, I don't like writing negative reviews, I try and work out the issues directly with the business if at all possible. As others have mentioned, there is but 1, yes 1...elliptical left at this gym that is in acceptable condition. The other 7 or 8, the footholds are incredibly loose and wobbly making it not only uncomfortable but also potentially dangerous (maybe I'll get an early retirement through a settlement?) Here is my timeline of trying to work this out with the gym: I began my membership at this location in November of 2023, I brought to their attention (front desk) in December 2023 the poor shape that their ellipticals were in, they said they'd pass it along to management. In January of 2024 I received a survey request for this location. I left the same feedback on the survey. I was VERY impressed I received a response within 15 minutes from the manager at this location indicating they were aware of the issue and had ordered the appropriate parts for repair. 4 months later (April 2024), ellipticals are still in terrible shape (are these parts on one of Elon's rockets from Mars?), I again bring it to the front desk's attention, they'll be sure to pass it along. Here we are in July with no progress made. This is completely unacceptable for one of the more expensive gym memberships. My side hustle takes me all over the Austin and College Station area, so I've had the chance to try out most if not all of the area Gold's over the past year. Rest assured, Pflugerville Golds is hands down the worst location. My absolute favorite is the Hesters Crossing/I35 location in Round Rock. I do anything and everything to avoid going to the Pflugerville location which sucks...its less than 2 miles from where I live. Other big issue is the shower situation. In the mens, one of the stalls is completely missing the knob, and another falls off if you don't press in while you are turning it. The water fountain water is also warmer than the shower water. So incredibly disappointing. Only positive about this location is the front desk staff is INCREDIBLY friendly, most greet you on arrival/departure. Gold corporate: If you read these, please send someone out to look at this gym, it is tarnishing the brand name, as soon as HT fitness is complete in Hutto I will be switching my membership same day. HT Fitness: If you read these, for the love of all that is good and holy please hurry and finish your location, Hutto/Pflugerville desperately needs a decent gym and the bar has not been set high. read more

He wanted me to do the math instead of just giving me a direct answer over the phone and got upset when I asked for the price of 3 days. The real Champ is Carey the General Manager who always working and making sure the gym is clean, you will see Carey cleaning and going above and beyond. I'm not a public gym person and really hate dealing with other folks while I'm working out but I was on business in the area and came here to buy a pass. They were very helpful and when they found out I was going to be in town for week and a half, they offered to extend my week pass for free. I even offered to buy another week. They wouldn't have it. So I've been working out here for a couple months now. Moved from 24 hr due to better variety of classes and more class times (at a lower price). I have been very pleased. Instructors are great, crowd is friendly and plenty of machines when I'm not doing a class that day. Gym is clean. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is personal trainer cancellations. It was difficult to get in. These guys cancelled and/or rescheduled on me 4x for my initial body scan. Once I got past that it has been fun. read more

Here's the good: Affordable for all club membership. Gym has improved over the past few years in terms of cleanliness and equipment like specialty barbells. Has a better selection of equipment than a hotel gym or planet fitness. So here's the bad: Their two bilateral hamstring curl machines are damaged, with the seated / upright one being completely unusable because the leg restraint is permanently bent out of position. Like all gold's gyms, huge areas are devoted to group aerobics classes and are even off limits otherwise. The "CrossFit" / "gold fit" area, almost the size of the free weight area, seems to be devoted to teaching middle aged women how to do situps. The "functional training" area dominates the center of the gym, consisting of a void of floor space where confused gymgoers conduct unorthodox movement based workouts that should be done in the massive vacant studio area. This is also where overflow squatters and deadlifters go to exercise without safety catches or floor protection. Unusably crowded at night if you want to use dumbbells. read more

They are awful! I would give 0 stars if I could. I was told I could do a 30 day trial and could cancel before a certain date and when I went in to cancel they wanted to charge $100.00 for canceling even though I did it within the time frame I was told to. The Manager told me that maybe I should read things before signing them. That is literally so unprofessional and uncalled for. They said I never completed my fitness follow up and that's why I'm being charged. I only used the gym twice and was charged a total of $154.04. Just based off the customer service from the manager (Carey) alone I will never consider a membership at Golds Gym ever again. Gold's Gym is, quite frankly, the devil. This gym itself is very nice, lots of amenities, yes. Some of the staff is super nice, others don't even look at you. And my membership. I wanted to sign up for a month-to-month, and that's what I thought I had done. I know it was on me too for not reading the paperwork thoroughly, but the girl who signed me up did not mention a contract with a $100 cancellation fee. I was under the impression I could cancel any time bc I thought I was month-to-month. I can no longer afford the subscription, so I called to ask how to cancel. I can't afford it because the billing is so inconsistent. They'll charge me on the 25th one month and the 15th the next. That's so shady. Not to mention, they always charge me the DAY BEFORE payday. So that when it goes through a day later, I get a $20 late fee if I didn't have $40 in my acc (again, a DAY BEFORE I get paid). When the guy informed me I was on a 12 month contract, and the cancellation fee was $100, I almost cried with the shock. I was choking up, because I can't afford that right now either. I didn't ask to waive the fee, didn't ask for anything, but the man on the phone literally just said nothing. Before hanging up, all he had was an ingenuine "yeah haha sorry". At least pretend to care about the customers, especially if they're having a crisis on the other line, jeez. I'm paying the cancellation fee just bc I don't want to deal with it, and I do have fault in this, but they seriously need to care more about the customers and quit ripping people off, and hiding fees from them. read more

He was busy when I first came up but apologized after he finished his call (I think it was with the previous manager) and helped me quickly. And poor are piss poor customer service. Then I'm told I need to download it. My Phone loads a little slow. And I have to get somewhere in time. But I'm pressured to download an app. Asked 3 times after I asked HIM ' can u please just check me in'. So he helps my husband then comes to me. So now I'm pissed. This is my second time here and only after I show a military ID does the customer sevices climate change. . Don't, just don't. These globo gyms are good in the beginning but if you are ever going to quit or change gyms, consider going somewhere else. It is so frustrating that gyms like Golds maintain their absolutely terrible, consumer in friendly tactics. I am talking about trying to cancel your membership of course. After not really using the gym for a few months, I decided to cancel. I gave them a call and was told that I needed to cancel in-person. This alone is a very bad policy. Not to mention a practice that is quickly being legislated out of existence by new consumer protection laws. A month went by and I finally decided to visit in person. So I took time out of a Saturday to go in. The poor kid at the front counter tried to tell me I could only cancel Monday-Friday. WTF!!!!!!! You know we all work, right! He must have seen the rage building because he called his manager, who over the phone told him to give me the cancelation form. That was almost more infuriating. Because it showed they have obviously put a fake, BS obstacle in front of fair, decent, customer service. I called Amex to have them blocked from making any additional charges. The rep at Amex was almost giddy to make it happen. Saying she hears so many horror stories about shitty business practices from Gyms. All of this is sad because the gym is clean, new and otherwise good. I really hope this review discourages customers from going here. There are so many other (probably better) ways to get fit. So if you are trying to get fit in the new year, look elsewhere. Check out your local CrossFit box (they are usually negotiable on price if that's a problem). Don't let it's hardcore reputation scare you off. CrossFit is the most welcoming community in fitness. People are saying good things about Orange Theory. Yoga studios are another really fun option. Please give your money to people dedicated to helping you stay healthy. Not people dedicated to clawing for a recurring revenue stream, hoping to just be too much of a pain in the ass you will keep paying. read more

Beware of their contracts! I purchased a pay in advance 12 month contract. At month 9, I was relocated (Orlando FL) where there are no Gold's Gym. I had a friendly conversation with the manager and explained I was moving and needed to cancel so I would not automatically rebilled or anything. He explained that paid in advance contracts do not automatically rebill and that he would make a note anyway to make sure. Guess what? Yep, 4 months later I was rebilled. I called and asked that they correct. Customer nonservice told me that I did not cancel online, which is required. I tried to cancel online, and it was impossible. It kept saying "oops something went wrong". Beware of how you pay. Fortunately I have AMEX so it will be no problem. But these people are snakes. read more

As with many Golds Gyms, the facilities are pretty good. Unfortunately, as with so many others this gym is about making money and not about service. This one is perhaps worse than other Golds Gyms. We were surprised to find that they were charging us for monthly fees when we had not signed up and had decided to go somewhere else. When confronted about this we were told that they do not refund fees and that we would need to go to the credit card company. Their pressure sales tactics and unwillingness to explain clearly at the time of our inquiry resulted in three months of charges before we caught it. Their absolutely rude refusal to do anything has left a bad taste. We will never use this company again. read more

The short: Gym has dishonest practices and charges re-enrollment fees to a current member and lies about them prior. I signed up for 3 months with the top tier membership. I specifically asked if I could downgrade after three months without fees. Was told that would of course be the case. Recently joined and I haven't had any complaints. Everyone that I've come across has been friendly and helpful. I am just getting back into this and just instead of jumping in and overdoing it I decided to take a different approach. Getting a trainer has already helped a lot. Candace is super sweet, so I'm happy that Chase (I think that's his name) linked me with her. Now people cleanliness that you have no control. Just ensure that you wipe down equipment before and after you use. That's important for me due to my immune system. No complaints of the locker room it's always nice and clean when I am there. read more
