Mike and Kim, front desk staff, only seem to get up if they hear machine weight "slamming", but enforce this on the machines closest to them, not the free weight area. Guess the noise distracts them from their cell phones. As a former PTD for LA, I know the difference between slamming weights, and putting heavy weight down. So what does the LA Fitness on AW Grimes need to improve on...? That is a great question. I went there last Saturday and said I would like to get prices for all the locations at LA fitness. I spoke with three people and one asked the sales trainee no one would give me any prices. I'm dead serious. I told them that's like going to a car lot and looking at cars in then telling you they can't tell you the price ? The two people upfront, just looked at me and didn't answer I said well then I guess I'll go to the 620 location and the people said go ahead I'm sure they could help you. I'm in HR and I certainly can tell when someone hates the job and doesn't really care and that would be all the people I spoke with. It truly is sad, disappointing, and outright wrong for people to do that. I called the corporate office and hopefully they'll be some changes. PS. The 620 location was awesome and they told me that they've always heard bad things about the AW Grimes location. Everybody seem to love their job. I've been making the rounds of local gyms lately, and this is one of my favorites. I joined with an Active & Fit Direct membership, which gives you access to several gyms. This one is always super clean, bright, no meat-markety vibes, and they offer group fitness classes (in particular, Zumba) which fit my schedule. My boyfriend and I came in from out of town and were looking for a reasonable guest pass for the week so we could workout while we're away from home. Every other gym was $45 for one pass, or higher. We found LA fitness had a 5 day pass that Would allow us to come for free and check it out. This place is phenomenal. It is a high class gym, fully stocked with the latest equipment and appliances. SERVICE : The process to sign papers was smoothe and we were shown around by Amiel. He's an awesome employee, so so welcoming and kind, he knows the place well and is comfortable and familiar with the gym as a whole. He sat and made conversation and asked us about where we're from, etc. He's a fantastic guy, extremely kind and approachable!! We had a great experience with Amiel. ATMOSHPERE : everything in this gym is brand new and clean. Very open but also full of equipment to try out. Each row of equipment is sectioned by kind. Arms and legs, back and chest, arms, cardio, then the free weights. There's a cycle room, aerobics room, one on one training room, and an open space for stretching and kinesthetics. Even the aesthetic / layout / color pattern of this gym is appealing. It has a laid back, welcoming feel to it that was amazing. I'm so sad my home town doesn't have an LA fitness - but if I ever move, I know where to check out first! There's tanning, spas, an indoor pool and more. Theres also a "kids klub" I assume takes care of the kiddos while you workout. This is definitely a steal of a place, 10/10 in my book. read more

The Greenbelt location was a huge disappointment. The jacuzzi, at best was often cold (freezing). Than at another time it was surprisingly hot. Usually cold. The equipment often not in working conditions. I was told to frequent the newer Lanham location. The Caucasian lady, manager is extremely rude and lacks office etiquette. I stood in front of her for more than 5 minutes while she continually spoke on the phone without acknowledging me. Finally she ended her call and I let her know how unprofessional her behavior was. It took her less than 2 minutes to address my concern. Additionally, the pricing has been increasing but the services have decreased. All in all I may continue for the time being until I find an alternative. read more

Been a member for a few years at this location. They just don't maintain anything and it's frustrating. To give an example every stationary bike grinds and pops as you peddle, half of them aren't stabilized and wobble if you use them, or they have pieces of the peddles missing etc. It's been like this for the entire time I've had a membership. There are maintenance issues with seemingly every piece of equipment and when I come in a few times a week I have to rotate through several pieces of equipment to find one that's passable to use. Whoever is in charge of maintenance should be fired as they clearly are not even inspecting the machines. read more

Great staff! They greet you with a smile and are always there to help with anything I need. This is huge! As a parent, I love that it also has a British swim school option. (Hopefully more parents will join and they will re-open the kids club room! Equipment is very clean and in great condition! Has a great basketball court and beautiful spin room. No stars really. I went at 8:45pm on a Tuesday to sign up. I walked in and spoke to the person at the front desk about a deal I saw online and I asked if I can look around before I sign up and he said "No you can't." I was kinda shocked and said "So I shouldn't sign up?" He asked if I wanted a day pass. I said I can do that and come back to work out tomorrow but can he show me around before I commit and again he said "No you can't look around." Not sure what is going on but it felt very shady. One star I guess to say that the building there exists and it says LA Fitness. It was a bummer but probably for the best if that is a normal business practice there. read more

Don't join this gym unless you literally never plan to cancel your membership. The cancellation process is absolutely ridiculous. You can only cancel in person from 9 AM - 5 PM Monday - Friday. Thankfully I never joined this gym, I'm writing this review on behalf of my boyfriend. He shouldn't have ever joined this gym to begin with... We did a trial and then one of the membership guys called and basically verbally harassed me, trying to get us to join. In comparison- I recently canceled my Gold's Gym membership and it was the easiest process ever. The front desk guy had me fill out a form and that was it. I believe it was 7 PM when I canceled. That's how it should be!!!! Not everyone works hours where they can make it to the gym to cancel their membership. LA fitness seriously take advantage of their members. I am so pissed right now. This place is so poorly managed it's insane. A few of the staff are very friendly, but a large portion of them are anything but (mostly just disinterested and unengaged). Yesterday someone thought it was a good idea to place "Customer Appreciation Day" (nothing more than a day for current club members to bring guests for free so the club can sell more memberships - makes me feel soooo appreciated!) printout ON 1/3 or more ( based on my quick assessment- did not actually count) of the cardio equipment, COVERING THE DISPLAY AND CONTROLS! WTF? Today, I arrived at the gym at 6:30 PM only to be greeted by an empty parking lot and a sign on the door (which was NOT displayed yesterday when I was there) stating beginning July 30th (TODAY- NO PRIOR NOTICE) the gym has new hours, meaning they are offering what I believe is 8 LESS open hours, but at the same price, which includes closing 2 hours earlier on Sunday. Thanks for appreciating your customers so effing much that you screw us over and don't even have the courtesy or business savvy to role it out in a courteous and professional manner. Same thing happened on Independence Day, closed early without any advance notice. I habe plenty more to say, but I am too pissed to write much more. I will say that when we first signed up, the gym was immaculate, but now it just keeps getting dirtier and dirtier. 3 day in a row this week I saw the same water bottle, in the same spot on the floor - is no one cleaning this place each night? I'd give this gym 3 stars if it wasn't for the terrible experience my wife has experienced trying to cancel her membership.... The gym..modern, good equipment, always clean..but it just doesn't have an upbeat vibe. Turnover seems crazy here as I was a member for a couple years (used it infrequently as it was a supplement to another membership) but seems like every other month or so it's new people. None of which really seem to be all that upbeat and friendly. Now to why this place gets one star. My wife is a surgical nurse and works M-F from 8-6. She's been in 3 times to cancel her membership now and each time they tell her "oh sorry the manager has to do it and he's only here M-F 9 to 5. We'll here's the thing she came in once last week on her lunch break at 1:30PM and they told her oh sorry he stepped out! Haha WTF talk about a SCAM. Decent gym nothing to blow my socks off or anything. An avid gym goer and I have had memberships to golds, anytime, etc so this place is average. It is very clean and there isn't a bunch of people every time I come here, be it the times I come are off peak hours typically so I haven't had an issue with getting to my stations etc. Weight room is neat and organized, lots of dumbbells and has two cable machines so thats always nice. lots of cardio equipment like any other gym. Has an indoor pool (I haven't used it yet but it's nice) supposedly heated?? Basketball court big plus since the golds I went to didn't, not that i'm a baller or anything but it's nice to have to shoot some hoops every now and then. I was here a few days ago, and it was just an overall unenjoyable experience. Machines are fine, and it's clean. If you're female I'd keep an eye out. Im 19 and there was this older man who works there probably in his 40's he has brown hair a bit thicker just kept eyeing me the entire time. Just extremely uncomfortable I would go to a different machine and it seemed like he kept following me wherever I went. I'm from out of town, so at least there's no need for me to return. I recently joined the gym (again) since I was going here during my time as an intern during college. After moving back, I re-registered at the gym since it has all the equipment needed to have good workouts. They offer a complimentary personal training session which mine was with Mikos. Experience was great including an in depth body analysis and talking about my goals. The workout was killer and challenging! Some negatives: - They tend to always have the AC full blasts as well as the big fans running on high making it really chilly. Specially during these times when it is chilly. - Free weight benches are bolted to the floor. - Benches are really close to dumbbell wrack, which can be a bit uncomfortable trying to get a specific weight and someone is right in front o fit. read more

This is the worst gym franchise I have ever been with. The 1st month I was with them my card was compromised (out side problem) so I notified billing my next payment will be late until my new card comes in the mail. The vary next day I get not one, not two but 7 phone calls involving my billing. I told each of the reps the problem and was told they made a notation on my account. 24 hours later I get another 6 phone calls from the same department. This went on every single day for 2 weeks because my new card had to be resent due to a problem with a dispute charge. I will never recommend this gym read more

I have been a member since 2015 in the area. While the facility is decent, the management's neglect and near disdain for the rules regarding mask wearing in the club is appalling. Numerous requests have been made of local management and their district manager and nothing has changed besides the location of the incorrectly worded advisory to wear a mask. They believe that the virus can be fought with weak dilutions of sanitizer when in fact it is an airborne aerosol problem. Tread carefully if you are choosing a new gym. I am stuck with it because I paid for several years in advance. I need to add that there are typically 15-30 people here at a time except for early evening on weekdays (busy) and at least 75% are not wearing masks or thinking that if it covers your chin it is sufficient. read more

A certain staff member got upset I added on another member to MY gym membership through a promotion LA fitness sent through an email, which saved me a few bucks and avoided me having to call in order to have to go through the process. I PAID and everything was set. THIS CERTAIN STAFF MEMBER FLAGGED MY ACCOUNT AND MADE MY ADDITIONAL SECONDARY PERSON PAY $20 AND WRITE A REVIEW ON HERE FOR HIM TO GET INTO THE GYM. So ridiculous and unprofessional. This staff member was probably upset he wouldn't have gotten commission from the sale, however that promotion I got emailed and offered by LA fitness saved me some money I couldn't spare.
