I defected from the 24 Hour Fitness in the Stone Hill Town Center once this gym was built, at first, because it was a teeny bit closer to my house but also because the 24 Hour was getting really gross. I love the staff and the trainers and I can't imagine the cost associated with keeping some place that's open 24 hours clean, but still. Ewww. The new Gold Gym is beautiful and has some interesting equipment. That Jacob's Ladder looked simply enough but I was done after 3 minutes! My real love for this gym is the Studio Classes - Fit and Burn. Let's be real -- they are direct rip offs of Cross Fit and Orange Theory, but I pay less to get both so I'm not complaining. There is a good mix of people who clearly consume protein shakes by the gallons (not me) and those who clearly consume happy hour cocktails and appetizers by the gallons (me). The trainers do a great job of learning everyone's names and making everyone feel like friends and not just customers. They offer adaptations for different abilities and offer ways to make moves either easier or harder, depending on who you are. Although most of the front desk staff is, in a word, aloof; I spend far too much time with the trainers to let a 5 minute greeting ruin my experience at this gym. Special shout to Lindsey and John at this location. I was having some personal issues and Lindsey and John worked with me to freeze my membership while I got my stuff under control. Lindsey emailed me while I was gone to check up on me, which was awesome, and when I came back she had THE biggest smile and welcomed me with open arms. Even though I sweat my balls off in her class, it always feels like I have a buddy on my side rather than a person who's just there to collect a check. Worst experience I've ever had. These people make it impossible to quit and stop charging your account. I litterally had to take time off to go and tell them in person to stop charging my account and they forced me to complete stacks of paperwork saying it was policy. Yeah, they keep you hostage if you don't do it. I had to cancel my credit card so they would stop charging it cause they kept charging it after I went in and canceled in person and did their paper work. This is a big corporation that doesn't care about their clients or members. All they want is your money and they will continue to charge you forever. Worst thing I did was join Gold's Gym. If you are looking for a Gym. Don't. Just Don't. They don't care. And most of their machines are non-functional. If I could give this a 0 I would. I even went to the BBB and complain to them, but that doesn't matter either cause they have a horrible rating there too. An "F". They have an "F" for that same reason. Still to this day they continue to charge me and ruining my credit, after email and email of me letting them know that I do not want to be a member there anymore and have asked them countless of times to stop charging me. I am a fairly new member (actually returning member I was a member of 24 hour fitness for 5 years) to golds gym. Today I checked the schedule and made my way there for a 5:30 PiYo class. I go in and say hi to the front desk person and she doesn't even acknowledge me. She then goes to the computer and does some data entry. I have to then wait (I'm the only one at the front desk) for her to get my key fob and scan. No hello or eye contact nothing. The employees at 24 hour fitness ALWAYS greeted me and wished me a great workout. I then change and go to the GGX room for the PiYo workout and wait and find out (with 4 others) that the class is cancelled and the online schedule has NOT been updated. As I'm walking out unhappy and an employee (probably a manager) makes eye contact and says bye! I ask him "do you work here" he says "yes". I think advise him that the online schedule is wrong!! read more

I would say I need to downgrade for now. Their classes are super limited unless it's the ones you have to pay for, not sure if they have issues finding good instructors but they also have poor attendance. The front desk is not that great still and just there taking up space looking really bro-ish when I have come here, not inviting. Not much to say. This has been a nightmare since my membership started back in 2017. Canceled the membership almost 2 years ago in house with a manager. We are still being charged (went in again today), it's hard not to get upset. Also learned, Back in February also had false charges from private lessons and this is how we learned our account was still being charged. Had they canceled the account when they were suppose to, we would not have had the second false charges. This should all be illegal but yeah, the system sucks. We will never get our money back. Would not recommend at all. Been with 24-hour fitness for the last 2 years and love them! They straight up lied that they canceled my membership because 2 months later I noticed 2 charges and 2 decline charges on there bill... what the F... they really must be doing bad to the point there ripping there own people off... this gym is definitely a scam... they say "$25 a month" but then hit you with $20 decline fees even if your card has money or they made error on charging... they really got me for 94$ off one month "$25 a month no cancellation fees".. save your money go spend the extra $5 for better customer service and a better experience than I got. read more

Very disappointed in this location. Took my wife to look things over this morning. We are members at 24 hour fitness but we're thinking about making a move. Our daughter does. It like that facilities day care center. Had to wait 15 plus minutes after we signed in to see the only sales person on site. Walked around in the lobby and then walked into the day care to look it over. Walked back out and the person he was talking was just about yo leave, we believed we were next. Nope... a man who had just literally walked in was taken before us and we were told to wait again. If you only have one person who is capable of walking people around so they could get an idea of what was in the gym, take them in the order they arrived. Poor sales professionals at Golds. Helped me decide we should probably ray at the 24 hour fitness just down the road. read more

As far as working out it's okay most of the staff are good especially the morning staff but management needs a bit of work. One enthusiast was asking about some supplements and training routines and the manager smiled and walked off and act like she was helping another customer. Luckily a trainer was in the area. They have gotten better at walking the floor but need to stay consistent at cleaning the equipment. read more

Went to Pflugerville Golds gym this morning and was so disappointed. At least minimum of 10 people wearing masks under chin and a few completely without masks. 2 people walked out thru front door with masks in their hands. Witnessed a guy no mask coughing with out covering while he talked to 2 other guys with masks under chin. So sad. If a grown adult can't get thru a weight work out with a mask maybe they should start doing more cardio. And before anyone says that it's cause they are pushing heavy weight believe me they aren't. They won't even put mask on i between sets or while walking around. Just socializing. Sad , so sad. Respect to those really working out and trying to keep everyone safe. read more

I signed up for a free pass via the website, then I started looking at the reviews. Wow, a lot of unhappy customers mostly complaining about rudeness and billing issues. I decided not to visit the gym and the next day Gold's called to see when I'd like to come in. I told him I was concerned about the negative reviews and have decided to stay at my current gym. The guy just hung up on me, slam. Looks like the reviews of rudeness were spot on. Very nice when they think they might make a sale, but then.... You only know how well a business treats its customers when there is a problem. I now know how Gold's Gym functions and I cancelled my membership. I recently had a severe knee injury and have been working with my doctor and currently a physical therapist to treat it. I wanted to freeze my membership for a couple of months as I can barely walk with out pain much less do any kind of gym exercises. I thought this would be a simple easy process. Nope! I went in to my pflugerville gym because Gold's can't do things over the phone and their corporate number just routes you to the local gym. I was told I needed an email from my doctor to be approved for a freeze in order to avoid a monthly fee. It's $15 by the way with no medical documentation. I am a month to month member, no contract. That's 100% pure profit for providing nothing in return. So I found a Gold's customer service corporate email, westcustomercare@goldsgym.com, and asked them if they could take care of this. They told me to go back to the gym and provide documentation. When someone has a medical injury, asking them something like this is ridiculous. But I did, and filled out a form and had a doctor email the manager as requested. He did not process it right away, but instead waited 5 days to email the doctor back and requested she send something with a letterhead.This is of course after I got charged for another month of dues for a membership I can not use. Why does one have to jump through so many hoops to temporarily freeze a gym membership? I asked 24 Hour fitness and they will freeze if it's medical related without a fee and they don't require documentation unless it's more than a year. That makes more sense. Their non medical freeze costs $12 a month compared to Gold's $15 a month. So I cancelled my membership and of course I have to pay another month of dues because it "takes 30 days to process." If there was a way to select zero stars I would. As a member of Gold's for 15 + years I have never been treated with such disrespect and blatant racism. My friend (of middle eastern descent) joined me to worked out at this location. Unfamiliar with the policy as it relates to a "guest pass" I invited him in given the front desk personnel was busy when he arrived and we we're on a time crunch. After 5 minutes the location manager (Mark) came over and instead of asking about our membership status, he said "get your shit and get out of my gym before I call the police!" We offered an apology and tried to explain our POV but instead of listening first he continued to threaten us with calling the police. My guest even said he'd been open to signing up for a membership and he still responded, "I could never trust you in my gym!" Funny thing is that I just purchased a $20 hat from the apparel shop 45 minutes prior. I didn't get to record this horrible encounter but even as we were leaving, I heard what sound like him calling my friend and I the N-Word on the way out. Again, in 15+ years as a Gold's Gym member I've never felt so disrespected. Gold's Gym may have more locations than any other gyms in my city, but I'll spend my money where I'm appreciated and treated with respect. read more

Got one answer to come before 6 on weekday hard to do in person when u have a full day yourself. then i called today and was told to come before 8pm today and I did! now being told they cannot change or cancel memberships on weekend because there is no manager to do it. BUT u can sign up people on weekends!?? hmmmm? A membership modification. should NOT be this hard and limited to your times! This is really piss poor management and strategic money sapping! Poorly managed.... I frequently come here because it's close to home but the trash is usually overflowing, the premoistened towelettes are also empty and there aren't even paper towels. Their policies to reduce waste aren't helped by this and it's not right to have you patrons pay to clean your machines but not themselves, only to offer to have hem rent a towel. Today there were a few kids, definitely under 10yo playing on the equipment, even more inappropriate, no parent to be found and stopping other paying patrons from using the equipment. This summer someone dropped a compact of pressed powder in the dressing room and no one cleaned it for two weeks. Shower drains are clogged up and I have only successfully used the bathing suit spinner twice when it wasn't broken. The roof leaks in multiple places when it rains. Seriously, get it together... read more

Worst location of all golds gyms! I've been a member for a lot of years started in Amarillo Texas and still going here in Austin area 12 years later. Staff is rude and not knowledgeable except for most of the trainers they are a total different story and most are very nice, but front desk and all managers here at the Hutto/Pflugerville golds completely suck!!!! That's me being nice and keeping it PG! Luckily I have never had a problem with them until now at this location and would never cancel my membership but I will avoid this one and let all friends and clients know to not go here! read more

Okay so let me start by saying that the facility here is very nice. Plenty of variety in equipment and duplicates so you're not waiting around on a particular machine to open up. There are a lot of really nice things about this facility like for the most part it stays pretty clean and all of the equipment is new. However, the staff is not helpful and is unfriendly on a regular basis. They act annoyed at any question or request for help. (And this is not just one person in particular, it's the majority of them). Also, this is not a "more bang for your buck" type of gym. Memberships run on the higher end and much less is included than other gyms I've experienced. Overall it's okay, but not the best gym experience I've had... especially when it comes to customer service. read more

So... I have never written a bad review on any company but the staff at this location particularly are ultra rude. My 17 year old daughter (whose membership was paid in full for a year) went in today 9-23-2020 and was treated very poorly by staff and denied entrance to the club. There was a billing error on the extra fee Group exercise classes that we had cancelled (and which I was never notified of). The staff refused to talk to me so I could remedy the situation. They tried to get my 17 year old's credit card number. After speaking to the manager I was given a customer service number which the only option was to be routed back to the same location or another Gold's location. I would recommend to anyone find a different place to work out especially if you have a younger one that you don't treated very poorly read more

This was the worst experience. Gold's came to my healh fair advertising and I signed up paying $80 immediately understanding I could cancel for full refund within 30 days. 3 days later another 80 withdrawal was taken. This was 6/13. On 7/3 I went to gym to cancel. Another 4 trips, phone calls and emails still nothing. John the office manager in charge of cancellation does not respond to calls emails or walk in. After many attempts I called and was told to get there in 10 minutes as another manager was out the door. He finally cancelled. read more

Recently joined Gold's Gym. My boyfriend has been a member for years and added me to his account when I relocated to Austin. This is a newer gym which is nice. It's always nice to be able to utilize the newer equipment. The facility it's self is nice smaller but has everything I need to get a good workout. I typically like to swim and the pool is not huge but good. It seems not many people swim so the pool is probably perfect for this community. The gym loses many points for the associates. Every time I've come to the gym they seem very unenthusiastic to help the customers. They don't greet you or even say goodbye when you are leaving. l'll try to initiate a hello or goodbye but still get no real reaction. It's very odd to me. The other thing that really bothered me about this gym is there are no water weights or kick boards out for independent use? I asked the front desk associates on my exit about this because I know they have water classes which would indicate there are water weights somewhere. It was interesting because I have not been to a gym ever before this one that does not allow you to use their weights. The associates appeared to be bothered that I was interrupting their three way conversation amongst them selves to ask about the pool equipment. I was told that they have weights and kick boards but they are only for class usage. Well that's unfair because I do my workout independently I can't use the equipment for the pool? I thought of it this way to be told you can't use free weights because you aren't taking a lifting class? Then why am I paying for a membership, I should have usage of all equipment. I would even understand if the equipment needed to be signed out at the front desk but to be denied usage is really unreasonable. read more

Sad that we want to start paying this location for their services again, but they are still trying to gouge us for hundreds of dollars of fees during COVID. You would think any business would appreciate paying customers at this point. We were in perfectly good standing before COVID, but then AFTER the gym closed down for COVID, they charged us again. We tried calling but there was no one to talk to, so we disputed the charge and asked that no other charges from the gym be allowed. We tried calling to cancel our membership at that time, but again, no one to talk to. Now we are told we owe for that bogus charge, a fee for returning the charge, and several months of a lesser charge they've been trying to get from us since they reopened, even though we hadn't yet gone back. We had been members for years, just sad that the company would treat us like this and that no one on site either cares enough or is allowed to do what's right. read more

The gym itself is really nice. All brand new equipment and pretty good layout. I have yet to run into an issue with over crowding here and it seems to be very well kept in terms of cleanliness. Has all of the right equipment that I could think of to support any weight lifting regimine. The customer service is horrible. Today I went in there to workout and to let my significant other try it out. This process to get her in there took 20 mins. First I walked up and swiped my card. The lady at the front couldn't help anyone with anything and acted mad that people were coming in. I finally got someone who could help and they told me there was a balance but couldn't tell me why there was a balance because no managers were on duty today. So as we wait for someone to let my girlfriend work out, I hear an interaction with 2 ladies who were requesting a female trainer to do pictures and their initial trainer consulting. They were told that there was not a female trainer and they couldn't accommodate until Monday. We'll according to their plan this was the last day to do so. They sent some older gentleman over there to help and they did not want to work with him. I just cannot fathom why, during business hours that they dont have a manager or female personal trainers. We finally got to speak to the person who would give my girlfriend a pass to work out for 7 days. He let us know that they do not do any sort of family discounts rather would charge the full amount minus 5 bucks for her membership. She did get a pass finally and we were able to work out. Well after I lock all my stuff up and come back to the front, I tried to buy a water. I had exact change. The older lady up front told me that I could not purchase said water without my key card. I let her know that all of my stuff was locked up. She then says "well where is it!?!" I tell her it's locked up in the locker and she tells me she won't sell me the water without it. Ridiculous. I have never been treated this way at any other of the Gold's gym locations, nor have I seen anyone else treated this way either. It seems as though things have changed a lot since I stopped working out there previously. I will be looking for another gym for sure. read more

So I've had a membership with this gym for a little over a year, added my wife about 8 months ago. My work used to pay for part of my membership, I recently changed jobs, so I updated my credit card last week to pay fully for my membership and my wife's. She went in today, and it said we were delinquent. No worries I thought, maybe they missed applying my card to her scan, so I told her simply to update her account as well. Come to find out this evening, they charged our account $144 for an activation fees? It isn't a new account! We called this location, they said that is their policy and they we're going to have to talk to the GM. We'll see what happens, but my policy is not to be taken advantage of. Do the right thing Gold's if you want me to keep my membership with you all. read more

I have stopped by the membership trailer 3 times to have my questions answered. The first time I was told the first 300 memberships will have the initiation waived, then the next time they said 400 and today they told me 600. When I actually went to sign up they said I DID have to pay the enrollment because I wanted to use the Hesters location while I waited for the gym to open. So I decide to join the gym today. Went to go use the membership at 7pm and the childcare was full and I couldn't use my new membership. Spoke with another frustrated couple that was standing there and they said it was common that the childcare was full. Fortunately Texas has a right to rescind all contracts within 3 days.....just need to see how many hoops I have to jump through to cancel. It's also very shady how they quote you double the "bi-weekly" as the "monthly" rate but when I multiply out my bi-weekly $45.99 family plan it comes out to $105 monthly. All other gyms give you a monthly rate, Gold's ends up ripping you off for another 4 weeks a year. read more

This is my first gym membership and I have had an amazing experience. I found the prices reasonable. For 1 month, I pay as much for myself AND my wife as I was paying for just one of us at 9 Rounds. The difference being that 9 Rounds is focused more on cardio, and at Golds I get a total body workout for half the price. I am very impressed with the facilities: the equipment, the extra amenities and all of the free classes that are included with my membership. Being that I am 57 years old, out of shape and have no prior gym experience, I decided to pay for a personal trainer to get me started. One of the best decisions I have ever made. Teresa, my trainer, is awesome. It has only been a month, but I couldn't be more pleased with my results. I have lowered my body fat by almost 3.5% and increased my Fat Free Mass by 8.4 pounds. She guides me on everything from diet to posture to proper techniques on the weight machines and the cardio machines. In 1 month, I can feel a big difference in my cardio health, my strength and my energy levels.Teresa has been amazing and I would certainly recommend her. Overall, an awesome experience. read more

Another unfortunate experience at this location. Workout area way too cold, hard to get in a good cardio when its that temp. If I wanted a freezing gym I would move to Alaska. It's Texas, we embrace the heat. Warm the gym up already. Also the Pop Music is so loud I couldn't hear my headphones without turning my volume up full blast. Which is not good for the eardrums. They make everything as easy as possible for you to become a member. But if you need to cancel your membership, be prepared for 1) having to go to your gym to cancel, 2) wait while 2 managers and 2 other staff have fun, talk, tell jokes to each other, answer other calls and 3) pay for a full month even after cancellation (yes... you know those "small letters" in the contract that you never read? 30-day cancellation notice...). This gym is really nice. There is plenty of space to get around and lots of nice equipment. All machines are working. I've been to so many gyms where a machine will be broken for weeks sometimes. It doesn't seem to get too crowded for the most part. That's big for me because I like to get in and get out. They keep the place clean. There always seems to be someone walking around cleaning the gym area or the bathrooms. The sauna is nice. Plenty of space. The price for the membership is really reasonable. Just writing this reminds me I need to get back in there. read more

The first thing I noticed was how clean and new the facility looked. This held true throughout my experience. The gym offered 4 free classes which I wish I had taken advantage of. The classes looked fun yet intense. The machines are well kept and clean but odd. Very odd. Ex: The seated leg extension machine: when you extend your legs the seat moves backwards. It took some time getting used to. Wasn't my cup of tea. Half of the staff was fun and inviting, while the other half was off putting almost snobby and never seemed able to answer my questions. They've made it impossible to cancel my membership. I went up there at 6:30pm and was told only their operations manager could cancel it but he's already left. Then I went up there mid day and he was off that day. Then I called and was told to come in and fill out a cancellation form. I signed up in January 2019 and was convinced to "sign a contract" because the rep told me that my 'membership' was good at all Gold's Gym locations. I told her I was trying to transfer with my job to Houston, TX and was asking if I could use the Gold's Gyms in the Houston area. Well, my transfer came through in March and the Gold's gyms in Houston say my memberships are not good there... that they are not part of Gold's Corporate. I was led to believe they were at the time of signing up. Now I'm locked in a contract, instead of just signing up with a regular membership with no contact which is what I wanted to do in the first place.... have a temp membership until I moved. I've read the reviews and I have the same sentiments as the ones who gave this gym 1 star. I got duped into the contract after I specifically told the sales rep I wanted to go month-to-month, just like others on here have mentioned. When I added my then 12 year old daughter to my membership, I specifically asked if she could be added on with the monthly plan because I wasn't sure if she would continue coming with me after summer and I was lied to about that. They gave a hard time about taking her off and made me pay a $100 cacellation fee, even though they confirmed through my account that she had only accompanied me there twice. They conned one of my friends into providing his credit card info for a 3-day trial while he was visiting and charged him for a whole membership. When he called to cancel they told him he had to come in and but he doesn't live here...he lives in Iowa so they charged him regardless! One review mentioned the manager Carrie (or Corey) Woods avoided them and misinformed them about membership info...same here. And then when COVID hit and I tried to cancel my membership, I got the run around and they continued to charge me for 3 months despite the fact that most of the country had shut down gyms. When I do return back to the gym, I definitely won't be going back there. read more
