They will scam you, even though it is only month to month I cancelled and they keep trying to bill me for an additional few months. Every time I call they say "we will leave a note for the manager" and they continuously keep trying to bill me for more and more and I literally moved states... This is ridiculous , I don't recommend signing up for this gym because even though they say it's month to month , when you attempt to cancel they'll continually attempt to steal your money and send you over to collection services. Yeah, this is probably one of the worst gems I ever went to. They say they have a women's only section that you have to go through the locker rooms to access, but then there is a side door that anyone can just walk through. Meaning there are many men who would just come through the side door and then walk through the locker room. I would alert management of it, but they really did not seem to care. And much like many other scam gyms in the area when you cancel they do not process a cancellation. Luckily I had taken a picture of the cancellation form that I signed, but then they told me that they just were not going to accept the cancellation and they only told me this months after I left. Luckily my bank sided with me, but I would definitely warn anyone against going here. They also shared the parking lot with a trucking company and I would constantly be blocked and not be able to enter because they were just so many trucks blocking the entrance and exit of the parking lot. I really did not feel that they honored any part of the contract. They also were never open the times they said they were going to, they often closed early or would close for random hours throughout the day. I think Golds Gym in general can be very good but this one is not managed well. read more

Review from the point of view of someone who goes to the gym six days a week for a few years now. I've been a member of multiple chain gyms throughout Bergen and Passaic County. I saw the reviews, asked about the monthly contract, and its price seemed somewhat fair. It's getting warmer these days and they don't seem to be turning up the AC! Most of the other gyms keep the temperature much cooler temperatures so that there are fewer people hanging out just wasting time on their cell phones and taking up equipment. If you're sweating five minutes into your workout, most likely it's not that you're working out hard. Even touching surfaces it's almost sticky due to high humidity. This is why I canceled my membership here. As far as equipment, it looks like they have everything you need for strength training. Some of the equipment needs to be oiled (WD-40) to cut the squeaks including ceiling fans. Two stars since the lack of air conditioning makes one feel like almost passing out. It could've been 3 or 4 stars. The gym should be somewhere you're happy, not feeling like you're going to die of heat exhaustion. I've gone at 5 AM+ and 10 PM+ due to my work schedule and it's great that you really have most members very into their workout versus the "seat warmers on their cell phones" however, that's most places especially during peak times. Overall, I really wish they'd crank up the AC and wonder if it's just to increase their refrigerated cold water sales. As the days get hotter, I don't want to be here! Things were not perfect however, AC is critical to keeping somewhat cool and pushing hard. When mentioning the desire to cancel, they didn't even seem to care that a person is canceling. It's always so hot in there! They don't turn the AC on quickly enough once it starts getting warm. And this might sound crazy but it's true: the lights are SO hot!! They have these huge harsh lights and when you're using a machine underneath the light it feels like you're baking. It's so frustrating. And they have fans but they're only on half the time. Plus the equipment is always broken... only about 1/3 of the cardio machines work, and they have a whole bunch of stair masters but only two work smoothly. The other ones work but they're super jerky and you'll be climbing the stairs and you'll feel them get stuck and then keep moving, it's actually kinda scary. It's also very dirty. They have housekeepers who are doing their jobs and cleaning however the equipment itself it's nasty and looks like it has never been wiped down. If management is reading this CLEAN/FIX THE STAIR-MASTER ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT AS ITS THE ONLY ONE NOT BELOW THOSE HARSH LIGHTS. I have had to go several times to close my account due to "misplaced forms" and when I asked for compensation for the several times they changed me while they were "working it out" according to Tony the extremely incompetent manager. Equipment was often broken and never replaced. But that isn't even the main reason why I'm reviewing this facility right now. I've asked them multiple times, and have even gone in person to cancel my account. Was constantly met with bs responses like "oh the person that handles that isn't here right now and I (the owner) have no access to those cancellation forms." They make it impossible. And the best part is that I just checked my credit report and my "unpaid account" was reported to the credit bureau and is showing as with collections. The manager - I think he goes by "Tony" is usually busy cozying up to teenage girls who work part time at the reception. Some of them are in junior high school. The owner of the gym seems like he's employed by the manager and is always looking for approval from the manager to handle small situations at the gym. Overall not a good atmosphere. However I just didn't realize i had signed a 3 yr contract. I'm just gonna list all the pros for now Pros Childcare- my kid has been in childcare eversince he was 6months. although they have never updated any of the toys, my child was content for staying a good hour everytime he was there. Women's private gym area behind the locker room. Since this gym has alot of meatheads, it's impossible to use some of the equipments and the women's private area has few machines you can workout in peace and quiet. So i joined Gold's this past Sunday 1/15, they actually had a deal going on where they waived the sign up fee and basically hit me for $32 if i agree to a 3 yr deal, ultimately i'll be paying $38 a month for the next 3yrs which totals $456 per year, HELL YEAH! i'm fine with that price. I will start by saying i tried going here to join last Thursday about 7pm, there was a line of cars getting into the parking lot, not sure if this is the norm or a fluke but i high tailed it out of there. I went back and forth a few times on the phone w/ a sales guy named Ronnie trying to set up an appointment to meet w/ him and come see the gym again. He was cool & patient, we managed to reschedule probably 3 or 4 times by the time i actually got there and sat w/ him. He broke it down to me as far as payments go, he said you can join for 1yr or 3yrs etc etc etc. To me the 3yrs seemed like a better deal. So i signed up on Sunday, worked out for the 1st time on Monday, this place is fk'n awesome, so much equipment, they have to have at least 100 pieces of cardio equip i actually counted up to 75 (hey it gets boring on the treadmill), more than half the cardio equip has personal TVs which is pretty cool. I've been working out close to 20yrs, been to many diff gyms and this place actually has equip i've never seen before. I get there 7:30am and needless to say have no issues w/ crowds, not sure what the night brings however. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! read more

Ginormous!!! This Gold's is IMPRESSIVE. I had no idea of what to expect for this Gold's location. I was pleasantly surprised with the newness, selection of equipment, cleanliness, and size of the Teterboro Gold's. This facility is 44,000 square feet according to the website. I was amazed to discover something new to wow me in every section of this gigantic gym. The Teterboro Gold's is a stones throw to the Teterboro Airport tucked away in a hard to find industrial park with poor signage. There's no turnstiles to climb through at the entrance, where we checked in with our travel passes and had to leave our licenses. The lobby area has in addition to the membership offices, a retail workout apparel section, 4 individual rooms for tanning, a cold drink fridge, a fresh juice/smoothie bar, and a daycare facility for kids! So the baby-mama's can drop off their rugrats while burning off some calories. Gold's has made it impossible to make any excuses to get healthy with the comprehensive services they offer. Pass the lobby to a large area for abs, which is flanked by the tanning booths on the left and a huge cardio machine section on the right. There's' at least 40 to 50 treadmills, elliptical machines, and stair steppers in this section. After the abs area, begins the buffet of weight machines. The back of the gym contains the free weights and serious iron. This gym is amazing because they have all the standard stuff plus a bunch of specialized machines that would be great to train with. What makes this Gold's special are the specific studios dedicated to different disciplines: The GGX Studio can hold at least 50 people for group classes. I wish the San Mateo/RWC Golds had a studio like this. Beyond the weight benches, is the Kickboxing Studio. There's a half a dozen heavy bags of different varieties and two speed bag stations. There's also an 8,000 square foot ETS (Elite Training Systems) Studio, which looked like it was the length of a football field with astroturf. I assume that since this location wasn't too far from the New York Giants stadium that professional athletes train in here. My favorite studio was the "Cardio Theater". It's maybe 1000 Sq/Ft with about 30 cardio machines (treadmills, stairsteppers, recumbent bikes, and ellipticals) and a large 15 foot projection screen playing movies to distract you while you're working out. The movie "300" was playing at the time. I'd love to come back specifically for this feature of the gym to catch up on my movie watching, with the guise of working out!!! =P Downsides? - no bottle/can recycling - no paper towels or cleanser to wipe down equipment - having expectations of similar facilities in California. Redwood City and San Mateo don't stack up to this facility in terms of size and variety - not sure how Gold's stacks up to other clubs in the area like NYSC, 24 Hour Fittness, Bally's and Equinox... FTR! suckas!!! However, it will be awhile, I imagine, before NJ catches on to Yelp even in 2008... read more

Where hype goes to die!! I walk into this gym and it's so quiet it makes me want to take a nap. I signed up for a Golds gym for the hardcore workout environment. This is NOT IT AT ALL. Luckily only signed up for a 30 day special but I would not return here. You can hear a pin drop. There's only one small stretching Mat- there's only one of a lot of things I've seen abundant at my last golds gym. The energy here is just sad. Even I went so many times to close membership due to covid but no answer they just want money from your pocket . They freeze account for three months and again they re extended atomically membership, when I went to close the memberships they told me you can't not cancel we already extended your membership when you freeze your account. So when I froze my account that time no clarification even last year they charged lots of money during shutdown time . Don't prefer this gym if want to make membership. I have been a member of this gym for nearly three years now. I have been quite happy in the past, but over the past few months the quality of membership has gone down significantly to the point where I feel I need to write this Firstly: the facilities. The gym equipment is in disrepair: there are several machines that need to be worked on to prevent failures that could hurt people. The floor is not being properly maintained and, in several places, is frequently wet due to what appears to be a water leak. Secondly: the employees. The some employees are rude, inconsiderate of clients, and seem to have a general apathy for their jobs. Most disturbingly, they are incredibly inappropriate around members, cursing loudly and carrying on non-work-appropriate conversations that make myself and, I'm sure, other members uncomfortable. Most disturbingly, they carry on this way in front of the younger members and children that may be at the gym. Moreover, a employee has a hygiene issue...can's say more...you'll know when you get there I have enjoyed working out at this gym and would like to continue enjoying it, but the current circumstances are making me consider not renewing and finding another gym. Seems like the amount of meat heads has increased along with the amount of ladies who work out with full face makeup, not to mention the selfies that are taken. This is a gym ppl!! We have been members of this gym for almost 7 years. We like it because its close. You have to watch your stuff because there are thieves that work the locker rooms, yet the staff wont do much about it. Last time we had to call the cops and file a police report after my mother's purse and phone, id, money etc were taken from her in the women's locker room. Staff acts 'cool'. The gym itself is fine, everything works, and you can really get into shape, they have lots of classes. If you are looking for a gym to give you the warm and fuzzies, this is not it. If you are looking for a place to work out, and not much else, then this place is fine. They do have some competition from Retro Fitness which is similar to Golds, but cheaper..... read more

Can't complain about this place! I tend to go earlier in the day, say 11 am, and later on in the evening- usually around 9 o'clock. If you go around 5-7, the gym is PACKED- I guess everyone gets out of work and heads straight here. Even earlier, say 1-3pm, it gets pretty busy and most of the treadmills/ellipticals are taken. But if you go in off-hours, you'll have a great workout experience. Its always clean, and theres a separate women-only workout section that's a great alternative. They have tons of machines, a workout theater, spin room, sauna. Lots of classes are also included in your gym membership (spin, zumba, various fitness exercises) but make sure you get there early to get a spot! read more

Long story short after 1.5 years of lack of cleanliness and lack of functioning of equipment and now after Covid 19....they charged me $135.00 plus to cancel my membership......do you think when my Dr. allows me to go back to a gym (heart condition) i would ever step foot back in here.....not a chance after this crazy cancellation fee. LOVE MY GYM!!! The equipment is new and there are a lot of machines for cardio. The price is fair and there is parking available. Women's locker is always clean. Some of the staff, not so great but I am not there for the staff. Also, a plus not to many creepy guys as in other gyms that I have been to. People go there to work out and not socialize. You will find your occasional loud mouth and grunter from time to time. OVerall its a great gym read more

I am obssessed with this Gold's Gym. I worked out here a year ago and enjoyed it a lot. Got nice results. I originally signed up for Bally's,but cancelled the next day when I foudn out that they changed their hours that night. A lot has changed since James G. last reviewed, some updates, there are towel, wipes, and hand sanitizer to clean down machines and yourself. There is no longer tanning bed, but rather massage rooms that are used for the in-house chiropractor. There is also a private women's facility in the rear of the women's locker room, for those woman that feel uncomfortable working out amongst men. Comparing to other gyms in the area- Gold's is the least expensive, and has the best weight machines. Many of the other gyms in the area are very "fluffy" offering tons of cardio equipment and not enough challenging weights. There is now a MMA class that is held there as well as a Cardio Theater. There is also a huge room for workout classes, as well as a boxing ring in the back left side- not sure about that service. There is also a training room where you can get physical training/therapy for sports related issues. I moved to NC where I looked at several gyms that could compare to Gold's in Teterboro. Nothing compared. I made it a top priority that once I moved back to NJ, I would immediately be signing back up to Gold's- and I most certainly did! read more

Even thou I love the hours. How big the facility is etc. the gym is wayyy too cold. Right now winter time the temperature shouldn't be set at 64 degrees. You are force to wear extra layers to try keeping warm but still it takes a long time to get goin due to it being so cold . I would love if they take care of this. read more

Definitely not the best gym in Bergen county... The gym is pretty small, but very clean. It also has a boxing gym and other activity places where they hold classes such as kick boxing, yoga, cardio exercises, etc... The only reason for the low rating is the contract sucks. There are no monthly contracts just 1yr or 3yr... They also change the price... They will tell you a high price at first and when you say forget it then they lower it more and more.. I have been trying to speak with someone regarding having to cancel my membership but whenever I call I am told the manager in charge is not in & to call back. I've never heard of such a thing where there's only 1 person that can handle cancellations & to not know which hours to exactly call. It's like a cat-mouse chase. I'm looking for a new gym after covid and have tested a couple which have been way too crowded. I actually got excited when I walked in here literally 5 minutes ago because it looks quiet and there was hardly anyone there....until the woman at the front said we couldn't use the guest pass because of covid and if we wanted to join that was okay though as we could "talk prices". So unprofessional. Every other gym is honoring the guest passes (which were confirmed) because they understand that people are skeptical after covid and want to see if they gym is clean. Your gym was empty and we would have been there an hour and WOULD HAVE signed up. I've been a member of Gold's in Teterboro since it officially opened. The manager, Tony, has always been great, helpful, and friendly. His front desk girls are friendly and there if you need any help. The day care is such an added bonus, they are caring to my daughter and there is always enough girls to ensure me my daughter is being taking care of. If there are ever any issues they are a few steps away as well as a text message. . The weights are always racked and the gym is always clean. There women's workout room is great for when the floor is busy, since there is a full set of weights in there. Would recommend this gym to anyone working or living in the area. I agree with yelper George C.-BEST gym in Bergen County. I have been a member of several gyms and this one pretty much beats them all. I have been going here for almost four years. Please take to mind that I am not a body builder by any means but am a female who likes to stay fit. So a review from a female may not be as helpful if you are a big muscular person. LoL. That being said, here is my review: The place itself is huge and clean. The locker rooms/shower area are very nice. They have a private women's area if you don't want to lift with the big boys. There is plenty of cardio equipment, most equipped with personal televisions. (although sometimes the tv's are not working correctly, woops, did i say that, but recently I think they've fixed that issue) There are tons of machines and free weights. It gets crowded around 5:30 but have never really had a problem getting on a treadmill. I take a lot of the classes and most of them are fun and effective. The staff is very friendly also. They are reasonably priced compared to most of the gyms in the area, and most of the other gyms are complete dumps. The energy here is great! I forget about my horrible work day and leave feeling stress free-most of the time! read more
