I have to go to this gym bc it's closest to where I live but I've also recently added another gyms membership closer to work simply because this gym is ATROCIOUS. There are several blatantly apparent health code violations. It's filthy; I say that with the expectation that gyms should not be pretty salons, but honestly it's filthy like a musty ass abandoned warehouse. I was working my legs out this morning and this thing started dropping water. Don't go here. Demand that they renovate this place. It's awful. And I say this as someone who has played five sports for over a decade and has maintained a life at the gym after sports. This place sucks. OH AND THERES BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE ON ALL THE VENTS. UPDATE: A month later after management replied to me... NOTHING was done except that someone cleaned the water on the floor. Black mold still persists throughout the gym. This place sucks. And management sucks too. Awful location with no interest or commitment to providing a place to workout without being distracted by things like walls falling a part or mold everywhere.

    Maintenance isn't a priority

As you walk in to this Gold's Gym location, it looks great. Very airy, open, high ceilings, and lots of equipment... if you are doing cardio only. I bought a day pass (which I believe was $25) and was told the weights were downstairs. THAT area looked like a dungeon. Eight-foot ceilings made you feel cramped and there are no windows to open it up. There was a pervasive smell of mold, or urine, or moldy urine. Equipment felt clunky and wasn't organized in a manner to be conducive to a typical gym flow. Even the people working out looked a little sad. Next time I'm in town, I'll find another gym.

    Bathrooms as of 6/29.

Management reached out to me personally after my review and took time to we meet and discuss the issues noted. That week OneLife had already announced & added several classes requested by Crunch alumni, retrofitting them into time-slots that helped reduce overcrowding in the original schedule. The two weeks following, even more classes were added. OneLife also brought over some of the former Crunch instructors which helped several of us with the transition. Fair to say that we're still adapting and hoping that there's more to come, but I wanted to make a call out to the management for coming through on these additions!

I think an old man pisses himself in there every day, and the gym does nothing about it except clean it once a week. They should have a sign that says 'if you're incontinent, don't use the damn sauna!' And last, they don't tell you that you're signing a twelve month lease with them upon sign up, and that ending your subscription results in a 353 dollar charge that they pull out of your account with no warning. They didn't even send me an email. They pulled almost four hundred dollars out of my account without talking to me. I worked out my entire life, and Onelife fitness has unequivocally done more damage to my motivation than any gym I've ever stepped foot into since elementary school. P.S. Brittany is a snake slithering in the grass, and she will do anything to eek more money out of your account. BEWARE OF BRITTANY

I've heard the NY ones are even better, so I'm excited to check them out the next time I visit New York! The Wisconsin one is the best one in the DMV area, in my opinion. It is brand new (about 6 months old) and offers free 2 hour validated garage parking. The DMV membership gym gives you access to multiple equinox gym, including the ones I go to: Tyson's corner (free all day parking), Wisconsin Ave (2 hour free parking), and Bethesda (paid parking). Benefits of Wisconsin Ave: - Brand New - Next to Wegmans (can grab a snack) and King Street Oyster (happy hour) - Free 2 hour parking - Large range of classes and timeframes - Great bench spot for people who WFH - Steam Room Downsides: - No pool - More limited personal trainers tiers (they're still hiring) - Only 2 hour parking (about one class + a shower could fit in this timeframe). - Traffic into DC can take awhile Why I decided to join Equinox in general: - Fantastic bathrooms - cleaned 3x/day with Kiehls products (some of the best skincare/hair stuff) - Provides measurements and fat-muscle ratios - Has Eucalyptus infused towels - Luxury aesthetic and feeling - Overall lifestyle Equinox is truly a lifestyle, not just a gym. I am very impressed by how they have adapted during COVID. I was impressed by the measures in place to protect me and the staff. These measures include temperature check, mask required throughout. The gym has fewer classes with fewer people allowed at one time. Patrons are required to clean equipment before and after use. There are spray bottles and paper in buckets around the gym conveniently located. In addition, the gym has invested in a special air filtration system on the main workout floor. All instructors, trainers and staff are proactive and deeply caring about the health and well-beings of their members. Manager Skyler was very helpful. I especially enjoy the cleanliness of the showers and restroom areas. The heart monitor is another great addition to the gym, it gives me a clear idea on if I should increase or decrease my exercise intensity. The app is also very good. It makes keeping track of stats and workouts easy, and syncs my the Apple Watch. The staff and studio manager here are all friendly, informative, and helpful. Every staff member at the Orangetheory Tenleytown are excellent but Arbyana stands out to me the most. Her attention to the customers and vibrant energy really makes the difference between this and any other Orange Theory. Her positivity is definitely a reason why myself and probably many other members keep coming back to this location to workout and feel good about our exercise progress. I attend most classes with Coach Julie. She is a former Olympian, great motivator, and wonderful at showing examples of the workouts. I like attending Coach Aitana's classes as well. She is a great motivator and cares about members doing the workout correctly. She puts in extra effort during themed workout classes and her costumes make the class fun and enjoyable. The new coaches Oscar, Jonathan, and Mia were great additions to the gym this year too. They followed Julie and Aitana's workout methods in making the members of the gym feel like they're not left out of the workout. The workout community at this location are also very inviting and open. I can see myself continuing to enjoy coming to this gym for years to come. I take full responsibility for what I am writing here. In brief, this business is dishonest and has fraudulent practices. Let me explain. They used my credit card to charge me for 2 additional months of membership that I did not authorize. A few months ago, WYC and Kiron, the business owner, sent out an email with a special offer membership that had (and I quote) "no contract". I signed up for one month, because I knew I was moving away from DC in the near future. 1.5 months later I noticed repeating charges from WYC appearing on my cc. I wrote them, politely asking them to address the issue. I got a 3 sentence reply from Megan stating "it appears to be a membership charge and it will end in 3 months, the minimum for the membership". I wrote back again, this time in detail explaining what has happened and quoting their own advertisement. To date, 1.5 months later, the business has not acknowledged the issue or responded to me (same email address, so I know they read it regularly). I've never had such experience before with another business. I was clear and professional in my correspondance. Today I finally called my cc; they will deal with the business directly about the fraudulent charges moving forward. I've had one other unprofessional experience with WYC during my 1 month of membership with them. It took WYC 1.5 months to refund me an accidental charge that I was told would be refunded, and it took great persistence and effort on my part (multiple visits to talk to someone in person, multiple phone calls with no one returning my calls). There are other yoga places in this city that are credible. Practice your consumers rights and support them instead! I will never do business with WYC again.
