I retained this firm based on a recommendation from an employee of the LASD. From the first call with counsel, Suzanne Agatste, it would seem that she works for the worker's comp board. When I attempted to ask a question, she would stop me and tell me more about how my claim will be denied and how their doctor may deny services too. I was 100% ok with that risk but what I wasn't ok with was not being able to ask follow up questions. She said you are not using your own time (in fact, I am). She then proceeded to tell me that I should go back to work then. When I tried to ask her how I should go about that since the doctor has placed restrictions and a HR meeting determined those restrictions could not be accommodated (I was dismissed from work on my own time) She said if your hand doesn't hurt go back (the injury is my shoulder and I've still had no diagnosis). As a law enforcement officer, I was recommended by one of my union reps to go to contact Vernon Goldschmid regarding a workers comp case. I spoke to Vernon who was short and not pleasant to work with. Unfortunately, I didn't know anyone else and I went based on the recommendation. Most of the time, I dealt with his assistant, Odette who I enjoyed speaking with very much. Went through the case, went to the AME and was represented. Once it came time to settle, Vernon pushed me to sign even though I medically was not ready. Vernon said we can reopen the case and still go to the doctor. I was misinformed but I guess old Vernon wanted his money. I told him the AME said I should seriously consider a medically retirement due to my issues but Vernon said, "you will never be granted that, the doctor who sits on the pension system medical panel is wrong." Anyways, I settled and as my condition became worse, I found an amazing LEO work comp attorney in Van Nuys CA who works with many deputies. She is amazing, and Vernon is garbage in my eyes. Fast forward 2.5 years later, after fighting to reopening the case on a furthering disability- I went from Vernons 10% disability rating to over 60%. OMG!! So Goldschmid saw my first 2 reviews on here and instead of being a big boy and trying to correct his legal assistants terrible service or even looking at his own behavior, he sent me a letter dropping me as a client. He didn't call me or anything, just sent a letter. Makes me think of the COWARDLY lion from Wizard of Oz... Actually, I didn't find out from the attorney's office that I was dropped, I found out from the doctor that he referred me to just days before. They called me and told me that I was no longer being represented and they couldn't see me. When I called Odette, she just tried to talk me in circles and pretended to not know what was going on. She kept saying, "I told you that the attorney was sending you a letter..." I replied, "What does that mean to me? Is it a letter with a million dollar check???" Then she said, I'll email it to you, what's your email address?" Again, I gave it to her, although she should have had it because I had been emailing her for weeks with NO RESPONSE. For all you yelpers, this reminds me of a an episode of Kitchen Nightmares where the owner of Hamburger Kitchen would email the reviewers and tell them they were wrong. I will suffer financially and physically for the rest of my life due to his complete and total incompetence and self serving mode of operation. It all boiled down to once my Personal Injury lawyer paid Mr. Silver his fees, Mr Silver knew he would not be getting any more compensation from my case so he coerced me into signing away my future health care on anything to do with my injuries, there by ending his involvement.
