Let me tell you a story about heroes.  Once upon a time, I held a prestigious position at a prestigious company.  When I injured myself at work three years ago, resulting in a fractured calcaneus, my employer failed to report my injury to their Workers Comp insurance company.  When I pressed the issue, I was put on forced medical leave and subsequently laid off.  I've received two surgeries already and I'm scheduled for a third.
