Once I found parking in a lot about a quarter-mile away and walked to the office, I realized I couldn't get in without pushing an intercom button. Again, not something I was used to at the other offices that I've been to. But once I got inside, checked in, and let them know that I was trying to get lab work before my visits, they took care of signing me in for both and getting me set up. The lab tech took me back shortly after, and it was someone I knew from the Reston office. After finishing with the lab tech, the nurse practitioner quickly called me back, took care of the reason I was seeing her, and had me quickly on my way to my next appointment. I can't say enough about One Medical as a practice, and I highly recommend you give them a try if you need primary care or a new doctor.

They have a children's practice as well, which I am highly considering switching to as I can see it being easy to schedule sick and well visits, get doctors notes, etc. My company used to pay One Medical Group as a benefit but it is so good that I continue to pay out of pocket. I am so glad that Amazon has purchased the company to make this type of quality health care more accessible for all.

Take the stairs up to get to the entrance of the Urgent Care Center. The other way to find a place is to park in the garage and then walk around on the outside of the garage to find the stairs that lead to the entrance of the Urgent Care center. There are signs on the walls that will indicate the Urgent Care Center. Cons: First, they give you forms that are copied from an original that was obviously highlighted so you can't see some of the words. I don't understand why they can't get a clean copy of the forms. Second, the forms are outdated and do not have a lot of room for you to write your medical history, medications, etc. Third, the medical assistant needs more tact in communication. She opened the door and pointed in my direction, but I was sitting around a group of people, so it wasn't clear who she was pointing to. She should have announced the last name of the person. It's rude to point fingers at people. I tried to clarify if she was asking for me to come up, and then, she says yes you. She has very poor communication skills. She does not greet you at all. She doesn't explain the process or what to do after the visit is over. I have managed medical clinics, so I know what I am talking about. Pros: The receptionist seemed proficient. The place is clean and seems organized. The wait is usually not that long, but you can always call ahead to see how long the wait is. The physician assistant seemed proficient and was friendly. As with any medical visit, always call ahead to confirm if they take your insurance and bring your ID and insurance card(s), a list of your current medications, medical conditions/history, and other names of your other doctors to make it easier. I would visit them again to give them another chance if I ever needed Urgent Care again. I hope they use this feedback to improve.

He said I'd be dead in 2 years and would have had multiple visits to the ER and admittances to the hospital. He referred me to the cardiac surgeon. The idea of having my chest cut open and the months of recovery and pain terrified me. The surgeon explained both TAVR and SAVR procedures to me, listened to my questions and concerns and said I was a viable candidate for the TAVR. I went back to Dr El Haddad who told me that if wanted to do do TAVR I could wait 2-4 years. Remember, he told me the 1st time I'd be dead in 2 years and would have had many visits to the hospital over those 2 years. I told him I was more interested in the quality of my life now, not how long the valve lasted. He said scheduled another echo for July and said come back then. He did not listen to, or care about my choice, my life. He dismissed my concern for the quality of my current life. He totally invalidated my autonomy. Then in an email follow up he asked me when was the last time I had a Dr spend this much time explaining things to me. He wanted to cut my chest open and thought I was taking too much of his time. Avoid this Dr, women especially. He doesn't care about you. Side note, he's registered Medtronic valve guy. I think that's the only one he know how to use. I had a bicuspid valve with an oval opening. Medtronic valve is a hard, round, steel valve that would only have worked in an open heart setting. He gave my PII to Medtronic who harassed me repeatedly until I told them I'd had surgery with the S3UR valve made by Edwards because their valve was unsuitable for my situation. He gave my PII information to someone I had not authorized. I did have the S3UR, which is the latest technology on the market. He didn't know about it, or doesn't know how to use it. Don't trust Dr El Haddad. See someone else, outside Inova's in-house cabal.

The answer I always give is the staff, nurses and especially the few Doctors who have taken care of me during my 24+ year association with GIMG, now part of INOVA. Juliette Singh was there at the beginning and so was Dr Fender (who has since retired) and Dr Goyal. Not sure of anymore. Dr Fender was an amazing Doctor for the years I spent as a patient, along with his primary nurse. He as detailed, focused, spent time listening (and lecturing) and a doctor who would reach out and call you at home to discuss a reading or question if you were taking medication as prescribed. Qualities that reminded me of my Father who was the first US educated Doctor who returned to his home country of Guyana. When Dr Fender left (when GIMG stopped being a private group and taken over by INOVA) , he told me (probably confidentially so sorry Dr Fender) that if I wanted a replacement Doctor like him, switch over to Dr Goyal. It took me being lazy for a couple of years before I switched and since that time, I was fortunate that writing of an issue to another of the medical staff, my note was intercepted by Dr Goyal and a test ordered which indicated a serious enough life changing condition. She is extremely thorough and professional and has called me at home several times like Dr Fender to counsel, advise, lecture as well as provide guidance. When she leaves, given that I have no other such experience with a full time doctor (the PAs and NPs are great) I will finally exit to a group in Ashburn where we live. The staff work as a team. Case in point 2 weeks ago I experienced another issue and Ms. Singh found me a slot with Dr Goyal who, probably more to allay my concerns, ordered a test and Olga at the front desk worked her magic to get me to Radiology the same day (its not the first time she has done this). All the front desk, back office nurses like Robert, Bunry and others are excellent. I am fortunate that GIMG has taken such good care of me over the years and well worth the 45 minutes to an hour it takes me to get there.

Dr. El-Haddad then refused to provide further treatment. He completely dismissed my recovery needs and ignored my priorities. Whether he is unaware that only 35% of women receive timely heart treatment or simply didn't care, his approach was dismissive, contradictory, and showed zero respect for my autonomy.

Unfortunately, my experience with INOVA's financial assistance process has been very disappointing. I underwent multiple medically necessary diagnostic procedures, including imaging, a bone biopsy, a liver biopsy, and surgeries. Throughout the process, I paid every required copay and covered a significant portion of the out-of-pocket expenses related to my care. The only remaining balance is approximately $1,790. Despite demonstrating financial hardship, my financial assistance application was denied solely because I do not live in Virginia. What makes this particularly concerning is that my insurance provided by my Virginia employer was accepted without issue, and I have worked in Virginia for many decades. My care was approved, my insurance was billed, and services were provided but when I requested assistance for the remaining balance, my residential address became the deciding factor. In the DMV region, many patients live in one state and work or receive care in another. Policies that exclude patients from financial assistance based strictly on residency, particularly after care has already been provided, can feel inconsistent with the compassionate, community-focused mission that nonprofit health systems promote. I am sharing this experience in hopes that INOVA leadership reviews how these policies are applied. Patients facing serious medical concerns should not feel discouraged from seeking care within the regional healthcare system due to rigid administrative barriers. I still appreciate the clinical care I received, but I sincerely hope INOVA will reconsider how financial assistance eligibility is evaluated for patients who live and work within the same regional community it serves.

I must first speak with a "virtual assistant" that provides no help. About 10 minutes after trying unsuccessfully to get help from the virtual assistant, I am transferred to a human, but this human is in a Call Center and is not in my doctor's office. I have been hospitalized in an Inova hospital about 6 times in the last two years. Each hospital visit has been a miserable experience, in part, because they insist on waking me up at 6:00 am despite my repeated requests to let me sleep until 7:00 am. It is often the case that multiple people with different purposes appear at the same time while I am in the hospital. For example, at about the same time one person wants to check my blood pressure and my oxygen level, another person wants to give me oral medications, a third person wants to give me intravenous antibiotics, a fourth person wants to give me a breathing treatment to relieve my shortness of breath, a fifth person delivers my breakfast, which is cold at the time of delivery, and a sixth person (a medical doctor) also comes to my hospital room.
