They buy a truck load of lease return carts from golf course and then use their manufacturers license as a workaround to sell them as new. State should take notice of this and revoke that agreement. Warranty is non existent they will claim abuse or say you had the cart on the beach strand if there's a grain of sand on it. I do not recommend Golf Cart Outlet for rentals on holden Beach. We had issues from the very beginning. One golf cart would not go over 15 mph and the other had a broken seat and parking break that would not work. Rented a 6 passenger golf cart for a week at Holden Beach. The cart was waiting for us at our rental house when we arrived. Unfortunately, we couldn't find the key for it anywhere. Weekly house rentals run from Sat-Sat, and they are closed on weekends. After calling the office, an answering machine said they were closed for the 4th of July (this was in August), but left an emergency phone number. I called several times, but never got an answer. I did leave a couple messages. A few hours later, after looking all over the cart again, we found the key under the middle seat, on top of one of the batteries. Can't prove it, but we suspect it was put there after I called since more than 1 person had already looked there. Effectively no use of it on Saturday because we had no Key. Sunday drove it to drop the family off at the beach. On the way back, the steering broke. The steering wheel just spun freely. We managed to get it back to the house by straightening the front tires by hand, and driving for 15 - 30 feet, then repeating the process. Of course, it was after the business had closed for the evening before we got it back to the house, so I had to call the emergency number again, with no answer...again. Called them as soon as they opened Monday morning. I was told they would have a replacement delivered to me before lunch. I called them back at 2:00 pm to see where they were. They got there between 3:00 and 4:00 pm. A wasted day waiting around the house for them to show up. The next 3 days were fine, but on Friday, it had a flat tire, and I was done dealing with it. While the rental agreement had me keeping it until 10:00 am on Saturday, my phone rang at 7:00am letting me know they were there to pick it up. I would not recommend golf cart outlet. They delivered to the wrong house so we didn't have use of the cart the first 2 days ( delivery day was Saturday and no contact availability on Sunday). Cart was used Twice for less than 3 miles and died. Tried to charge battery. Wouldn't charge. Help didn't arrive for better part of the day so that's a 3rd day unable to use. I have a very special golf cart with front end spoilers etc it's a Shelby cobra GT 500. They had a little trouble with it but got everything done that I wanted done. They were very good and communicated well. I will probably use them again but handle it a little differently. I think for a standard or lifted cart they would be great to use. read more

I wish there was a zero star option! This Company has the worst customer service of any Company I have ever dealt with. This starts with the owner Don. He reminds me of the typical used car salesman that will tell you what you want to hear but doesn't deliver what you need. The maintenance department is a joke run by the "general manager" named Bobby. My cart was picked up by them in March because it completely died on me. 5 months later I had to go to their Southport location to have them arrange to get my cart back because Bobby would not return my call for over three weeks. Of course when the cart was brought back to me it was still not running. During these 5 months I put out over $2K in parts based on what they "thought" was wrong with my cart. I had another Company pick my cart up to diagnose the issue and they had the cart running in ONE DAY!!!! This Company only seems to care about getting rentals in and out and selling new carts to customers who will unfortunately see the poor level of service that most others see if there is ever a problem with their cart. Beware, they do not have any "Technicians ", just part changers. They are obviously understaffed and VERY poorly managed! You have been warned. RUN as far as you can away from this business! Purchased a new golf cart from Golf Cart Outlet in Southport two years ago. Contacted them about the cart driving slow and they said they would be out the next day to check it out. When they called back they said they ere in route to pick up cart and have it returned the following day. A second call later in the day said the repairs were going to total $300 and the cart would be returned later that day. A third call from GCO said the repairs were going to be near $700.00 and the cart would be returned a day later. A fourth call stated that when they were transporting the cart to my residence the reverse mirror fell off and they would have to replace and of course more $$$$$$. Don't use this company. The golf carts are falling apart. 2 out of 4 lights were burnt out, seat Belts were rusted and didn't work, and the cart was banged up and rusted, awful! Left in lurch. Poorly run with no costumer service to speak of. I made a reservation in February - months before our trip - through the online system. Received a confirmation from them with the details of the location and dates. They TOOK MY MONEY AND THEN WAITED FOUR MONTHS to call me and tell me (less than 48 hours before I was to pick up the cart) that they did not service that location nor were they even open on the date I was to receive the cart. Service staff said that the owner would call me... I am still waiting... There was no acknowledgement of their problem, no offer to help me find another cart and zero response from management. Bought a new street car golf cart from this place about 18 months ago. Went in to get replacement parts for an ignition switch that fell apart and an antenna. Our cart has less than 200 miles. Was told our cart was junk and then was charged $60 for a Napa switch which would have cost $16 from Napa. I would not recommend this place. And I live locally. I would highly discourage anyone to buy, rent, or service a golf cart at the Golf Cart Outlet. We purchased a new golf cart there a year ago. The golf cart has been ok with some minor problems. But what concerns us most is that when we had to get the golf cart inspected, we contacted golf cart outlet and experience was awful. Once they had the golf cart, we had to purchase new tires despite the golf cart being seldom ..... Our total bill for a simple inspection was over $250. Then we we tried to make arrangements to get the golf cart returned, they would not answer phones, promise delivery and not show, and then finally not show on time. I even offered to prepay with a credit card before we received the golf cart but they would not accept payment because they "were too busy" in the store. The driver then mistakenly delivered the golf cart thinking we had paid... we had not and I requested an invoice. I finally received an invoice 3 weeks after delivery... the owner called me threatening a lawsuit and saying he was calling his attorney and get him involved..... 1 day after me receiving an invoice and after I had proactively offered a credit card 3 weeks earlier. Our experience with the Golf Cart has been nothing but extremely poor service and responsiveness, lack of professionalism, overcharging, and charging for things that may not be necessary (like having to replace tires on a new seldom used golf cart). Sadly, people are quick to tell you something was not quite right. When all goes well, everything is fine, they are happy, then they don't think to take the time to let others know. Our family has been happily dealing with Don at the Golf Cart Outlet for the past 18 years. We are have purchased multiple carts, upgrading each time. We appreciate the great service we receive. I can't tell you how nice it is just to give them a call for pickup/delivery service to have the cart serviced and yearly dmv inspection completed. They make it easy. I would not recommend Golf Cart Outlet to anyone. We had our golf cart updated by Golf Cart Outlet to make it street ready. The cart had to go back 3 times for corrections to things, and it is still not right. We recently found out that the motor was not replaced as we were told it was (and paid for). When we questioned why the cart only goes 16 mph, we were told that is what the law requires. We have since found out differently. Also, according to them, it passed inspection, yet didn't have seat belts which are required by law. It makes me wonder what they did to have it pass inspection. So, we rented and reserved the cart in February of 2020, for our July 2020 vacation. upon arrival the cart was there however looked like someone stuck a bunch or random pieces of a golf cart together. And once we took it out for the first time it stopped working and the entire left side lights were broken, as well as rusted seatbelts that couldn't latch. Then on day 2 the golf cart broke down. But conveniently they are closed on Sundays the day after everyone gets their rentals. We left multiple voicemails but no answer or response at all. So we had to wait the next day to even call. The next day they didn't answer. Then, randomly that Monday on our way to the beach we saw a man delivering us a new cart. We came home and discovered that this wasn't any better then the other one we received. pretty much the same rusted cart but the steering was completely out of line and the reverse was so fast we almost hit something when barely stepping on the petal. It is two years later and the car is back in the shop again. This will be over $2,000 more that I have spent in repairs. And of course they blame all of the problems on me, the owner. I ordered and paid up front for a 6 passenger golf cart in April 2017 for my family's week vacation in July. Over $500!! Keeping in mind they only rent a a full week (Sat-Sat) during the summer months! We started calling on the Sat of arrival to see when it was going to be delivered, but they apparently close at noon on Sat. ( check in to our house rental wasn't until 3pm) So, we left a couple messages. That was until their voicemail box got full. I got on their Facebook page and saw that another poor soul had the same thing happen to them! So I replied to their comment. I said something to the effect that this business is ran by crooks! Well, finally on Monday, I got a call from some extremely RUDE fella! I would give zero stars if I could. Used this company over a 9 year period of time. Each time I always knew they were over charging me. I even just bought this new cart from (golf car outlet in the spring of this year) Less than 100 miles on it. Around $8,000.00. However I live in P.A. 9 hours away. Did not know there was a better place to take my cart. After the hurricane this fall, my cart got some water damage. About 8 inches from the ground to just below the top of the tires. They came and picked it up. I went to their location and met with the owner Don. We went out to the cart. He looked it over and told me all the things he would do to fix the cart. Told me it would be between $1,500 and $2,000 to do it right. Not too pleased but gave him the ok. Over two month's went by, I heard nothing. So I called three times , then ask for Don. I got his son. He told me he was going to do the same service his dad told me he was going to do. Got the estimate it was $4,892.83. He told me the motor ran, but made noise and the lights had to be changed. I checked the lights before him picking up. They all worked fine. I ask for Don again. He said he would rework the bid, never giving me his dad to talk to. He never looked at the cart until the second time I called. I was so mad. I searched and found another place in Supply N.C. G&E golf repairs. Called them, took it to them. Golf cart outlet tried to charge me $1,000 for storage. Even though they picked it up, and let it set there for 2 1/2 month's They looked it over told me the same parts Outlet told me had to be changed, Except, the light s were fine, and the motor was seized up. Yet the outlet told me the motor ran, but noisy. This guy never once bad mouthed his competition he was great. His Bid was $2,000.00 and he changed the brakes which outlet did not say needed changed. Look, I hate writing this. But it is not all about the money. It's about being taken advantage of. Outlet charged me $125.00 for estimate and pick up.
