This restaurant has a knack when someone makes a call in order they will tell you it will take 1015 minutes after you get there 20 minutes later and pay for Your food they Begin to make your spaghetti or pizza, waitresses will sit at the front table. I think it's very trashy and unprofessional, and all those defeats the purpose of a Call ahead order. Been dining here for about 35 years. I ordered the pizza and cannelloni. Delicious. Pizza dough was cooked perfectly. Not burnt or soggy. Cannelloni is not as stuffed as it use to be tho. read more

I have now gone twice and both times have been very enjoyable. Now each time we have had the pizza and it is great. We will have to try their other entrees and desserts. The staff is very thoughtful, courteous and a joy to work with. The restaurant is clean and has been recently renovated. We will definitely be back! read more

A hearty, home cooked meal. The fried zucchini sticks, chicken scarpariella, and coconut cheesecake were all very good - hearty portions and great quality. I especially liked the fact that the chicken scarpariella just felt like it was really home cooked - unlike all of these crazy oil infused buttery flavors of high end fancy places. Just good ole home cooking flavor. The zucchini sticks were great - freshly fried with light batter. The coconut cheesecake was good, but I think I still prefer just a normal coconut creme cake. Casual atmosphere, mediocre pasta dishes, fair sized portions at reasonable prices. The all you can eat pizza and salad buffet was disappointing though, as the pizzas were like cheap, supermarket frozen pizzas, and there were only two or three varieties. Salad items appeared fresh. Service was fine and staff were friendly. Old school, sloppy American Italian food as another reviewer put it, pretty much sums it up. Great place to go in Athens. We had a large party and they accommodated us well but we are not fans of when they bring the food and hollar "who had a..." We had several tables. At least go to that table rather than shout to the room. Food was good. Meat ravioli filling was ok, the red sauce was fabulous!! Salads just ok. We love the Gondolier they have the best Pizza in town! They have a variety of Italian dishes and a variety of sandwiches from the chicken strip wrap steak sub hamburger calzones to steaks that melt in your mouth. When I walked in the place was packed I even had to park at a neighboring business. I ordered take out and found the process easy and friendly. I asked for a special request and it was completed correctly. The food was very good and it traveled well back to where I was staying. Driving through and wanted to try something besides the same old chains. Reviews here are mixed however we had a wonderful lunch! I had the Chicken Parm with Marinara. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Served with a side of spaghetti and a piece of supposed garlic bread, however I didn't taste any garlic, just kinda grilled with butter. Not bad, however that could easily be improved. My husband had the Souvlaki Wrap with fries. He said it was very good:) Our server was attentive and answered our questions with enthusiasm. A manager checked on us and was also friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy her job. I saw several items on the menu that looked interesting to try, so if we are back that way again we will for sure drop in. Portions were good and lunch prices were great! My experience at this location was very lackluster and disappointing, from the beginning the largest red flag was the 4 different servers we had throughout the evening. I ordered a pizza that was very bland and a little undercooked, my girlfriend ordered the chicken piccata and that was a very big let down firstly the dish was drowned in sauce that was very runny, on top was chicken that could only be described at frozen grilled chicken breast. Lastly on my ticket was a charge of cheese sticks that I never ordered, that's an $8 charge thankfully I had that removed and that process wasn't easy as it should have been all things considered. read more

I have eaten here at least 5 times. Every time it tastes different and the quality of the food has gone downhill. I'm so done giving them chances and really don't want to risk getting food poisoning. Ok, I am admittedly biased. I am an Italian-American that was born and raised in Chicago area. I haven't found GOOD Italian food in this area yet...the sauce is bad, might as well be ketchup. Pasta is mushy and over cooked, and pizza is no better than a papa John's...lots of people every time I go by so clearly to the natives this is good food but for someone from a city KNOWN for its great Italian food, this just isn't in my opinion. read more

We went in to sit down for a nice meal. We were told where to sit. We were waiting nearly 20 minutes & not a single person asked if we needed anything, didn't even say someone would be with us. We had complete silent treatment, as if we were invisible. What made it even worse is after sitting for 10 minutes people came in & sat directly behind us & they were waited on within 5 minutes. Ive been here a few times so I will just out a couple of my opinions down for all the visits.The pizza is delicious with a traditional style crust, we had the Hawaiin and a pepperoni . I had a spaghetti with Sausage and meat sauce., It was alright , the sausage was actual italian sausage sliced up and The sauce for me needed to be tangier.So I probably wont eat that particular spaghetti again, but may try the other spaghetti on their menu. On our second night of vacation we were debating what to do for dinner. My mother in law suggested we go the Gondolier. We've been before and it was even better then I remembered. The service was amazing, the food excellent, the portions large and the prices were great. There were 5 of us and we ordered a couple different calzone, a small pepperoni pizza, chicken parmesan, and spaghetti. We all had leftovers and even brought home a piece of their amazing Oreo cake with cheese cake filling. DELICIOUS! We'll definitely be back. read more

Great place. Had many meals here. The lunch salad and pizza buffet is one of the best deals in town. Rest of the menu is very affordable as well. Try their gyros. The reviews on here have a negative slant, but all you have to do is drive by this place at dinner time and see it packed every day to know that it's a place the community loves. read more

Ugh. My boyfriend took me here because he grew up eating at this place. He was super excited to bring me here so I tried to remain positive despite the unfriendly staff when we entered and the place looking kinda dark and dingy. I think the problem was that we decided to try something other than the pizza. I received a pasta dish that must have had a quart of salt poured on it. My boyfriend, who loves salty food, tried it and couldn't even eat it. I would say it was probably the grossest meal I've ever had. I feel bad saying it but just being honest. I've been coming here for the past 20+ years, and there's something to be said for a restaurant that stays busy and hasn't changed throughout that entire time. It's your classic Greek/Italian spaghetti and steakhouse. The best deal in Athens, by far, is their pizza/salad buffet Sun-Fri, and Sundays also includes a few random items WITH the pizza/salad (fried chicken, roast, potatoes/gravy, beans, etc...) and comes with drink and dessert for less than $7 a person. For less than $5, the pizza and salad buffet can be had during the week. There are about 20 or so lunch items that won't put you back more than $7 after tip. Plus, they're good and filling. The only items I've had that have not been impressive are the fried zuchinni appetizer and the baked spaghetti dinner entree. Zuchinni tasted store-bought, and the baked spaghetti was rather runny. Other than that, it's definitely an Athens staple and enjoyable. There is a large room that can be sectioned off to host a part of up to 40-50 people, it seems. read more
