We stopped by Gong Cha because my husband had a coupon, and it had been a while since our last visit. To be honest, we've kind of drifted away over the years since the quality hasn't felt as consistent as it used to be. My husband ordered his usual favorite, a Thai tea. To my surprise, he went with the XL size. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Thai tea without boba, especially at 50% sugar. The staff did recommend trying their Bobacinno series, which sounded interesting, but it was later in the day and we weren't looking for any more caffeine. Maybe that's what we'll try next time if we stop by earlier. Overall, it wasn't a bad visit, but nothing really changed my mind. I'd be open to giving them another shot and trying something different from the menu. We did get a random pose with the Kpop Star cutout, so vibes were cute overall.

I'm late to post this, but I went during the Neopets collab. I beg of you (to any place doing a collab with limited merch) PLEASE limit the number of items you sell to each person because the scalpers are out there in full force. I went on the first day of the collab and the employees told me the plushies sold out in the first 10 minutes. The employees were super kind though and I appreciated them a lot. I was still able to get stickers and acrylic keychains during the collab. There's better quality boba out there, but I'm so happy there's a Gong Cha in San Diego for these kind of collab events. And actually, the shoryu cotton candy drink was actually really tasty lol.

When this global boba tea chain first opened in the Convoy District, I thought they would last a while. Fast forward several years and the Mira Mesa location is the only shop left in the SD area now. Gong Cha's suite was buried amongst the businesses in the Black Mountain Village without any prominent signage. The parking lot can be packed with vehicles if you come at the wrong time of the day. Maybe about a dozen customers could be seated inside. Two self-service kiosks were placed on opposite ends of the room. I used the kiosk next to the entrance to view the menu offerings and to enter my order. There seemed to be a lot more variety than when I first visited the Convoy shop. One area that caught my eye was the XL category. For about $8, you could get certain selections in an extra large serving of 32 oz. Only a handful of local boba tea places offer a super size. The ones here were served in a cup that resembled a 7-Eleven Big Gulp. My order was a Peach Oolong Tea with Pearls (XL). The instructions recommended 50% sugar for sweetness. I picked the 70% level with 50% ice. A worker assembled my item very quickly. When I took my first sip, the sweetness was potent for 70% Maybe that's why the suggestion was for 50% The peach flavor was very prominent too but not so much for the oolong tea. The amount of boba pearls added to the drink was generous. For the value and quality of the product I tried, this visit to Gong Cha was worth a four star rating.

Gong Cha is my favorite of the boba shops in Mira Mesa! The boba always has a great texture and comes out really quickly. They do the classics well like the pearl milk tea and whenever I've tried something new for the first time it's great. I saw the mango green tea was recommended so I gave it a try recently and it was so good--might be a new favorite! They are doing a Gong Cha x Neopets thing right now which is also really cute. The parking lot looks kind of small but I've also never have had trouble finding a spot.

One of the famous Taiwanese boba spots located in Mira Mesa. The location here is convenient, with lots of parking and great staff. You can order from a kiosk or with a cashier. Great place to hang with friends or grab a drink to go. My recommendation? Any of the milk tea series. Brown sugar or milk green is my fave. Paired with boba balls! Make sure to download the app for points or mobile ordering.

Craving boba, stopped by after browsing near by shopping center. Service was quick and friendly, cute decor for boba cafe. I enjoyed my drinks. Can't complain. I enjoyed my taro milk tea with lachee

I seem to come here only when they have promotional items. This time I came on the first day of the Peanuts collab to get the mystery keychain. The drink takes up like half the height of the cup and the keychain is at the bottom in the flap. I ordered the Woodstock - Matcha Flutter (matcha latte) drink, 30% sugar and got it in a surprise cup. There wasn't a line to order but there were a lot of people waiting for their drinks so it took us more than half an hour to get our drinks, which was understandable considering there were only two employees working at the time. A big thank you to them though as I cannot imagine how busy they were today.

One of my favorite boba spots in Mira Mesa and there are so many to pick from. My daughter loves the taro milk tea here specifically and will only choose this one for taro. I like that the teas here seem to be brewed on the regular so it's fresher. Service is usually on point and it's pretty busy too. This is more of an in and out type place just grab your boba and go.

Pretty standard boba drinks and service, you order on a kiosk. The main takeaway with these is you don't know what's recommended unless it's listed as a popular drink. I like Gong Cha because they have unique flavors and teas, and their drinks have always been consistent. I usually go for their Strawberry beverages, I like the flavor and their sweetness is always a good level. It is a long lasting boba shop in Mira Mesa but they always seem to have seasonal offerings and strive from collaborating with different brands and themes.

Came back again with my friend that wanted to try the drinks. I think they ran out of cup sleeves, but that's ok. I ordered Felix's picks again, the milk foam oolong tea with coconut jelly! It's still my favorite drink!

Yum this spot is delicious. They have unique flavors. I had the pumpkin spice milk tea. They have really good sales too cause I saw the regular tea is only $3! Boba texture is good chewy consistency. I got the 50% sugar and it was perfect. If you check in on Yelp they will upgrade you to a size larger for free! Great service. Orders come out quick. It's a small boba shop with lots of different things going on all the time. Great spot. They have mystery cups with keychains but they were already out for the day. They also have a XL size like 711 big gulp style! I've never seen that at any other boba shop.

Super surprised there aren't more locations of Gong Cha around San Diego- I guess that's smart so that people will seek them out. Anyway, it's a great boba spot. Quenched our thirst for good boba. The staff was friendly and the drinks came out in a timely manner. The plaza it's in is super busy, but there are plenty of parking around the establishment. There were a handful of tables that were full of people. Pricing is really competitive too. I ordered their large Pearl Milk Tea and that was only $6.95. Yes the drink I got was super basic, but it hit the spot! Really great, you can taste the actual "tea" and it wasn't just the powder. I will try their other flavors but really glad I tried this place. You can thank Instagram!

Are any of the milk teas non-dairy? Or no-lactose?

All our milk teas are plant based so it is both non dairy and lactose free. However we don’t recommend it for those who have allergies just to be extra safe. Those with allergies should drink just tea or we can make soy milk tea.

Everyone that worked there was kind and lovely but special shout out to John who excitedly explained all of the different beans (we wanted to take a bag home) and their specialty drink options. He was patient with all of our questions and very knowledgeable about where to steer us. It looked like they had empanadas but they also have cheesecake! We got a slice of the biscoff cheesecake and it was hella tasty. A lot of people were in here working which was nice. There are a lot of seating options and the AC was on which was ALSO very nice. They don't have a lot of seating inside the cafe, but there are lots of tables and chairs outside at the plaza area. We were incredibly happy and super impressed with every single thing we got--from the drinks, to the desserts, to the famous halo-halo. Everything was delicious and perfectly balanced in flavor; none of them were overly sweet or bland. Here's everything we tried: ORIGINAL HALO-HALO: 9/10 This one was the more traditional version, having the brown sugar milk base with ube ice cream on top. It was really good, a little more on the sweet side. But I just loved and preferred the upside down version more. UPSIDE DOWN HALO-HALO: 10/10 This one had the ube base with vanilla ice cream on top. I loved this one so much more than the original. I really liked how the ube flavor stood out. I just think this one was more balanced compared to the original. UBE MATCH LATTE: 9.5/10 I love that the ube flavor was prominent enough here that you can really taste it with the matcha. None of the two overpowered the other--it was the perfect balance. It wasn't too sweet either. I also appreciate that they did not charge an additional fee for any of their milk substitutes. UBE BUTTER BAR: 9/10 This dessert tastes *so much* like the ube halaya we have and LOVE in the Philippines. Ultimate *chef's kiss*! UBE CRACK CHEESECAKE: 9.5/10 Creamy and luscious with a really good amount of ube flavor! Would gladly have another piece of this dessert, or five. UBE LECHE FLAN CUPCAKE: 7/10 I had high hopes for this one, but the leche flan on top was not as soft and bouncy as a leche flan should be. I found it a bit dry, like it was sitting out for way too long. The cupcake was okay--good ube flavor, but a bit dense and dry too. MILO CUPCAKE: 9.5/10 This one was really good--the cupcake was moist and fluffy with a great amount of chocolate flavor. I think the Milo was only in the icing, but I only got a slight hint of it there. Still very very tasty though! Overall, this was by far the best and most Filipino-tasting ube I've ever had here in the US--and we've had a lot of ube here. Will definitely be back!
