Finding ways to stay cool in this summer heat, I found Tastea while shopping in the Mira Mesa area. It's a casual boba shop with several tables inside. Parking is super easy and plentiful. Most people seem to get their order to go. The menu consists of a variety of flavored iced teas, bobas, smoothies, slushies, and a few hot snacks. Their drinks come in 2 sizes. I like how the menu includes the ingredients and calories for each drink. Their prices are slightly higher than other boba shops. They charge more if you ask for less ice (seems more boba shops are doing this which is a bit annoying). Overall our drinks tasted good. read more

Was in the area and decided to stop here for some boba tea for something refreshing to cool off with. I usually like grapefruit fruit teas but since they didn't have it in their menu, I decided to try their peachy lychee tea. It was pretty good! Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place for boba since I didn't get the boba in my drink. I would recommend that you TRIPLE CHECK you are getting what you ordered though. I ordered a peach me tea with honey boba and I realized it didn't have boba. I showed the label to the cashier and asked about this. She asked if she could give me boba in a separate cup. I said yes, and I left after putting my boba in. I realized after leaving that the boba itself didn't taste sweetened. I think they just gave me the regular boba instead of honey boba. At that point, it wasn't worth going back to see if they could get it right. I know mistakes happen, but I really wish they would have at least given me the actual honey boba I ordered, if not offered to put the boba in the drink for me. There are so many other boba shops in the neighborhood, so if you're looking for boba I would try someplace else. read more

Honestly I love this place. I'm from the LA area and there's a lot of locations over there so coming here is always really comforting. I've tried a lot on the menu and it's all really good. You can always adjust your sweetness level with any drink. I like the bootea shaker, banana coffee, tiger milk tea, strawberry milk tea, the list goes on lol their boba is always so soft and chewy. It's a staple place in my routine for sure. I wish they would open more locations! It's not your typical aesthetic place but they always play good music and there's a small seating area. People seem to get their drink and leave but once in a while you'll see a group of friends hanging out. Still one of my favorite bubble tea place when I'm in the area. Went recently and ordered their 32 oz medium matcha strawberry. It was oh sooo good. You can taste the matcha flavor and strawberry together. It has enough strawberry and strawberry bits to give that hint of sweetness. Love this drink. Customer service is always great here. I don't understand some of the mediocre reviews - our drinks were super Tastea (ha ha), the shop was clean, full of customers, with a large, creative menu! I was feeling like a tea so we stopped in. My partner wasn't going to get one himself, but once he saw the menu, he couldn't resist. I got the Great White (peach white tea) with no added sugar and I asked for regular boba. The cashier said their were green, but taste like the traditional brown ones. They are called "honey boba" on the menu and did add the perfect sweetness to my tea. Great texture, too. My partner picked the Lychee Peachee (peach black tea with lychee bits) with light sweetness. I had a sip and it was delicious too. Lots of chunks of lychee jelly. Stopped by in the evening and was impressed by the large selection of drinks--definitely a lot to choose from. This was my first time at a Sharetea location, and I felt a little overwhelmed by the menu, so I had a few questions. Unfortunately, the staff experience left a lot to be desired. The person at the register was chatting with someone who seemed to be off-shift but still hanging around. They noticed me waiting but didn't acknowledge me and continued their chatting until I finally interrupted to ask for help. It didn't feel welcoming at all. When our drinks were ready, a different staff member called my name, shoved the drinks at us on the counter without a word or a smile, didn't even look up at us, and walked away, and chucked the straw at us too. It came off as cold and unprofessional. Maybe she was having a bad day, but the whole interaction felt like we were an inconvenience. This spot is consistently solid! There isn't anything crazy special about Tastea, but I am never disappointed here. I've tried the pandan milk tea, peach me sweet tea, and popcorn chicken recently. Pandan Milk Tea: Really yummy! The pandan flavor is really strong, and the jelly it comes with is a good texture and also light enough to go well with it. VERY sweet so make sure to get it a lot less sweet if you normally drink things lighter. Peach Me Sweet Tea: This is the drink I usually get - it is the perfect balance fruity while still having a strong tea flavor. Popcorn Chicken: So crunchy which I like, but the chicken pieces are pretty small. A little steep in price for how much you get also. My spice tolerance is really bad, but I think mild works pretty well with the chicken! Overall a great spot for drinks, but I would usually hold off on their food unless I am really craving it. Their drinks in general also lean sweet, and a 50% sweet here is about an 80% sweet for other boba shops. Service is quick and the workers are so nice. (I waited around 10 minutes before saying something... she acknowledged me with eye contact and didn't say anything else) Otherwise, the place is pretty nice. I had been here once a long time ago and saw they had a Thai matcha milk tea I needed to try The space smells sooo good with some tables and chairs available and a clear space to order then pick up drinks I LOVE that they offer stevia as a sweetener option and don't know any other boba place that has that option which is super cool! Giving this spot a 3.5 out of 5. We ordered the Strawberry specialtea with boba, 50% sugar, large size. The tea itself was decent, and the sugar level felt just right. The boba was green, which was unexpected, but it actually tasted good and had a nice texture. That said, the menu didn't really impress. It took a while to figure out what to get because nothing really stood out or appealed to my taste. We ended up going with something simple because nothing else looked particularly exciting. Prices also felt a bit high for what you get. The store itself was messy. All the tables were dirty, and there was trash on the floor. It didn't feel like cleanliness was a priority. After fasting for over 16 hours to get my blood drawn, I decided to stop by Tastea, which is not too far from the 15 freeway. May not be the best thing to put in my body as a first meal, but it was already 1:30pm. I was hangry and my state of mind had been altered. The first thing that caught my eye was the banana coffee or matcha poster. So, I went with a small - 20 oz iced banana coffee non dairy creamer. Customizing the sweetness and type of milk (almond, oat, or non dairy) is a plus! For snack, I chose the regular size karate chicken with a spice level of 1 - "mild but wild". It had the right amount of heat without compromising the flavor. It also includes a dipping sauce with the choice of weak sauce (sweet chili), ranch or ketchup. The place is clean and inviting. It was empty when I first arrived and quickly got busy as I left so I cannot comment as to how loud it can get. I didn't have to wait too long for my food and drink. Drink came out fast and waited for chicken which was like less than 5 minutes in all... I think. Price is comparable. Shout out to Charlise for the kind attentive service. I've always thought that Tastea had one of the best popcorn chicken flavors in town. Today I got the chicken & calamari. Pros: - Great seasoning - Love that they included the crispy little pieces in the chicken - I think the weak sauce is just sweet chili? but it's delicious! Cons: - Ordered extra basil and it's supposed to be fried but they weren't - Spice levels are a bit inconsistent - Usually when we get mild, it has a bit of heat. Pretty decent boba. It's got everyone's favorites. The set up here feels very much geared to getting take out rather than staying even though there are tables here. Initially we were both going to try their Chamango drink but we ended up just getting the Yummy Gummy & Avocado Avalanche. Yummy Gummy: A tropical mix smoothie with orange, passion fruit, and raspberry with peach bits! It definitely tastes like gummies. Avocado Avalanche: I am always down for an avocado smoothie and this one was perfect! I've never had green colored boba before and to my surprise, it was SO GOOD! After a long day of walking about both plazas and comic con prior, we needed some refreshments and popped in here after seeing what was close on yelp. The space was clean, cool, and had a nice staff. They serve snacks too fried karage chicken, bowls, calamari etc. We got avocado smoothie and a gummy smoothie. My lady enjoyed her creamy avocado smoothie with green boba (we were so glad it wasn't the popping juice boba) pleasantly surprised and welcomed it. I had the yummy gummy with 30% sugar and it was smooth and refreshing. Orange raspberry passionfruit and peach bits at the bottom. First time here... It was a hot day and we wanted some drinks to cool us down. Upon entering, we got hit with a strong chemical smell. They must been cleaning the shop. It threw us off but we went ahead and bought our drinks. It was very vibrant and a pretty decent open space inside. Plenty of seats. They accept cash or debit/credit. We ordered the taro fantasy, lychee peachee, Thai milk tea and a regular iced green non sweet tea. Taro fantasy is basically a taro slushy (blended taro), I would rate it a 7 out of 10. Lychee peachee was a 4 out of 10: I had asked for less sweet and lots of ice. It was still on the sweet side. The lychee peachee consist of peach black tea with diced of lychee. I like the diced lychee, it was nice touch to the drink. Thai milk tea was just all right, nothing special. My daughter ordered the iced green tea non sweetened and it was very bitter. I really like the prices for the huge sizes. Other than that, the service was good and they were friendly. They had answered all of our questions of the drinks. My husband has been wanting boba for a really long time and he loves Thai milk tea so decided decided to stop here. Got Classic Milk Tea with Creme Brulee. The tea in itself had a good flavor and it turns out they had actual chunks of creme brulee inside! I thought it would be creme brulee flavored boba pearls or something like that. But no, it was actual chunks of creme brulee! Very unique take here. A little hard to have the creme brulee pieces through the straw, but maybe you can get a spoon and have it as dessert at the end of the tea. :) Would recommend trying for sure. read more

The weird thing I didn't realize this shop did was that they charged an extra $0.75 for less ice with a top off. I didn't know that was a thing until it was too late. Employees are also very fast and efficient. The restroom was also very clean which I appreciate. I ordered a pandan oreo since it was one of the newest drinks and I highly recommend it for a sweet treat! I would definitely come back to this location for another drink and maybe even food! My only disappointment was that there is a layer of fried crisps that doesn't actually have any chicken at the box's bottom. DRINK 3/5 Avocado smoothie $6.8: Tasted not as thick, creamy, or very much like avocado as I imagined this to be - this is almost like a watered down avocado smoothie. I've been coming here a couple of times and the pattern of poor customer service is ridiculous. 5 stars for the quality of drinks but less because of the customer service. Tonight, I came in to pick up my family member's mobile order and there are 3 people working on the floor. A heavy set girl with a teal shirt and white flower hair clip kept chatting it up with her friend with dyed hair and glasses. She looked over at me three times and never once asked if I had a pick up order. Then another customer came in and stood right next to me waiting, and the girl helped her instead and walked away to the POS to go on her phone. Sure I could have spoke up, but it's a worker's responsibility to service customers. Ironically, the one who finally helped was a worker that was the busiest on the floor. And before this, another heavy set, short girl who took my order a few days ago was on her phone texting and sipping her drink in front of us at the POS making my family and I wait till she was done!!!! Disgusting and unprofessional. Based on my experience and other reviews, customer service here is absolutely poor and managers seem to not do anything about their behavior. Get off your phone. Instead of saying sorry we're working on your order. The girl who works there says it will be done at 1:15pm even though I specified I wanted the order asap. I waited patiently and annoyed. Another girl who is prepping my order give me the 2 jugs of tea with 20 cups and 20 lids but only 10 straws. WTF I ask for more straws and she asks me how many more. I said 10 more obviously bc why would you give me 20 cups but less straws. The app also says you get 10 of each per bag. She says I can only give you 5 more. Tastea has a wide variety of drinks and snacks on their menu so there is something for everyone.
