So I visited yesterday around noon time with my family. I was very excited about hearing that Gongcha has opened up close to me! So I had to go in AGAIN! I'm addicted to their drinks! I don't know what all the fuss is about about finding plastic in their purple sweet potato smoothie.. I had one yesterday and found no plastic in their drinks! So if the people that found plastic, I'd like to see a picture (other than the first person that sent the picture). Seeing all of these similar reviews about plastic is absurd! They all sound the same! I talked with the owners and they informed me that the blenders were replaced ASAP! Anyways, these smoothies I had yesterday were absolutely AMAZING! They were all full of flavor and all the toppings were perfect! The employees are super nice and friendly as well! The place is very lit up and has a nice vibe to it! Just got done waiting in line for my order of 1 milk tea, in the mean time there are several other order numbers from people that came in after us being called including someone who ordered an egg waffle. The man in front of us just complained and the teenager behind the counter said there was a long line of orders yet we've been waiting for 20 minutes and this man had been waiting before any of us for 2 drinks. This was such a cute little place! All the different drink options were kind of overwhelming but that is better than having nothing to choose from! They are open pretty late on the weekends so it is nice for a late night stop. There are big comfortable chairs at tables up sit at and they even have board games to play while drinking your drink. I'm usually not so big on boba but I wanted to give it another try. I'm not a fan of milk tea so my goto drink is the passionfruit green tea and it is to die for!!! They make it so perfectly every time plus the rainbow pearls are very delicious. The cashiers are so friendly and kind. They get busy every day and I can imagine how tiring it must be for the workers so I appreciate how they continue to provide excellent service. When I first visited Gong Cha, they were patient with me while I tried to figure out what to order from the big menu that they had. And when I went again with my mom, they were also very generous to her with the explanations of the drinks she asked about and even gave her recommendations according to her tastes (she doesn't like overly sweet drinks). Looked at some google reviews with people complaining about having plastic in their smoothies and others getting sick from their drinks. Thankfully, that didn't happen when we visited but the taro milk tea I would usually go for at other boba places was not good at all. It tasted so much like the powder that I might as well have mixed taro powder and water myself, and got the same result. For the price it was and the taste, I would say it wasn't worth it. Granted I didn't try a different flavor that could have been better but first impressions are everything, and I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

We drove 1.5 hour to get drinks from here. Most of the time, the drinks were great but the service was super slow despite the fact that the store was empty. But this time, I'm super disappointed because we bought 6 drinks and the lady only gave us 2 punches in the punch card.She didn't mention anything about the policy change until we asked. She said that we now can only get 2 stars per visit, which is really odd. We always bought 6,7 drinks every time we stop by and this is ridiculous. If you guys don't want to honor what being said on the punch card, then might as well remove that promotion. I know it's just ONE drink but this is not how you do business. read more

A late night review!!! This place is actually super genuine and so nice. Their employees treat you like family. Maybe because it's a new shop, but their employees always seem super excited to see customers come in and support! I live in the Richmond area and when I heard this shop was opening I drove all the way down there and waited until I got my drink...I was rather very pleased with mine, I just asked the cashier to surprise me with 2 random drinks and it turned out so good. One was like a melon drink and the other one was like a strawberry drink, both was super good and I loved it! I also seen people say they've found micro-plastics in their drinks, but please give them some slack they just opened! I've been to many other places like tapioca go, boba chef, and Kung fu tea, but this place really had the best drinks compared to these other places. I love Gong Cha. My first time trying Gong Cha was in South Korea so I was extremely excited to find this one. I ordered the earl grey bubble tea which is my go-to order at any bubble tea place. It was really good and made me happy to finally have decent bubble tea after leaving South Korea. The milk tea was a little watered down so didn't​ have as strong of a flavor as the other Gong Cha's I've been too, but still really good and would for sure go back again. I found this place as I was in the area visiting looking for a good bubble tea spot based on location and reviews. I was even more interested as I had been told this is a chain from Hong Kong so I had high expectations! The tea was great and they had a good amount of variety as far as selections. The reason for the low star rating is because of the VERY POOR customer service. This shop had a store full of young teenagers who were rude, unattentive, not knowledgable, and slow service. Good customer service is just as important as a good quality product. Just for that I would not recommend or be back.
