I recently stopped by Ohana & Co. at Red Mill in Virginia Beach after hearing about their banana malasadas. We actually drove about 30 minutes specifically to try them, but unfortunately they weren't available. Even though I was disappointed, I still had a really nice experience. The café wasn't busy when we visited there was only one couple dining in, it was clean, and the customer service was great. The employee who helped us was friendly, welcoming, and very kind. Since they were out of the malasadas, I decided to order the banana latte instead. I'd give it about a 7/10. For context, I'm always searching for a great banana latte because I love flavored coffee. One thing that frustrates me is when coffee shops advertise flavors like cookie butter, lemon pound cake, or red velvet, but the drink just ends up tasting like sweet coffee with no real trace of the advertised flavor. I was pleasantly surprised because this latte actually tasted like banana. It wasn't the best banana latte I've ever had that title still belongs to one I had in Las Vegas but it was definitely one of the better ones I've tried. The only reason it wasn't rated higher is because I noticed a sugary base flavor that overpowered the coffee a little for me. I personally prefer flavored lattes where I mainly taste the coffee cut with milk and the featured flavor heavily, not just sweetness. That's purely my preference. The fact that I finished the entire drink says a lot. I've had plenty of flavored coffees that I couldn't even finish because I disliked them so much. This wasn't one of those. I enjoyed it, and I definitely didn't regret ordering it. Now...the real star of the visit was the lumpia. It was AMAZING. Crispy, flavorful, and easily some of the best lumpia I've had. I actually tried another lumpia spot recently, and while it was decent, Ohana & Co.'s lumpia completely won me over. It's honestly the reason I'll be back. I have an eye appointment in the area next week, and I'm already planning another stop. I'll definitely be ordering the lumpia again, and this time I'm hoping they have the banana malasadas because that's what I originally came for. I also want to try one of their platters. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend giving Ohana & Co. a try. Had a wonderful experience at Ohana & Co, the space has a fun tropical ambiance with fun lively music in the background that just added to the vibes. My partner and I got the Da Macanack Attack (Sandwich) and the Kalua Pork combo plate. The sandwich was two chicken katsu cutlets topped with a sweet glaze, pineapple slaw and macaroni salad all settled between a brioche bun. It was delicious, the sweet glaze definitely amplifies the flavors and the fries that accompanied it were crispy and well seasoned. The combo plate was huge! With rice, macaroni salad and a ginger salad along side my protein choice of kalua pork. I really enjoyed my pork it was tender and well seasoned. The mac salad was not my favorite, I found it to be a little salty and I am used to mac salad being a bit sweeter, however I did get an additional side of the pineapple slaw which I found to be a really nice side. Next time, I may ask to swap it for the mac salad or try a different side. Overall, Ohana & Co was a great lunch spot on a sunny sunday! The service was amazing and I could tell that everyone was proud of the food they were serving. Wanted to try something other than sushi today. My boyfriend, myself and the kids stumbled across this place and it was very convenient and close. Unfortunately the air wasn't working but she had fans blowing which made up for it. Very cute small place. There is a bar and a few tables and couches. This place isn't big but if you have to wait, it's worth it. There are also two tables outside. The theme is simple and Hawaiian. Very authentic in the decor and the food. I appreciate the live plants. Everything is fresh and you can tell. The girls had the teriyaki beef plate and a spam musubi. My boyfriend ordered the beef loco moco and I ordered the Da Macanak attack. I didn't get a picture of the girls food or mine but our presentations were wonderful. The chicken katsu was cooked to perfect and HUGE. The fries were crispy and the Mac salad was on point. I asked for extra lava sauce. It has the perfect kick. My boyfriend finished his beef loco moco without much talking. The flavor was amazing. We all left with leftovers except him. The prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes. The staff were super friendly and made sure we were satisfied with everything. There is so much more on the menu that we want to try so we will definitely be going back. I had heard great things about this place and since I'm from Hawai'i, I had to check it out and I was hoping it was as good as back home. My husband had the D Kine Loco Moco ($20.50) and he really liked it. I wanted to try the chicken katsu but it's made with chicken breast and that's a nope. I got the Garlic shrimp plate ($20). It did not have the Ohana Garlic Butter. It just had the grease from being fried. And 2 of the 7 shrimp were not cleaned good (deveined). There was a sign on the door that they were short staffed because of graduations but I expected that to affect the service time, not the food. I would give it another try and maybe try other dishes or maybe I could just stick to shave ice. One can Hawaiian Sun is $3.50 but it was nice to have flavors from home. It is my first time here I came during lunch hour so about 11 something am or so I came in it was spacious and clean. i see benches and than counter to seat and and tables cute space. There were already a few people eating and in line ordering take out. I got myself a menu and ordered plate of 2 proteins. I got Huli Huli chicken and teriyaki beef just for first try. I will come back next time to order other things. Customer service is friendly and nice. The food was very fresh and teriyaki beef was great quality as well. It was tender and very flavorful. While I was in the area, I stopped by Ohana & Co Eatery, since I'd recently seen a post about it being the newest spot in Red Mill. I absolutely love Hawaiian food so I couldn't wait to try it out. As soon I walked in, I noticed the tropical decor, which was absolutely beautiful! As I walked towards the counter, I grabbed a menu and looked over the items. Unfortunately, they were out of some of their Spam items but with it being a "soft opening ", it was understandable. I decided on the Chicken Katsu & Gravy (made with Japanese Curry) Macaroni Salad, Lumpia and Pungo Fruit Tea. It totaled to about $45. My tea was made very quickly and tasted great with the exception of the lychee jelly, which was very sweet. It took over 30 minutes for my food to be served but once again, I gave them grace since they just opened. The Chicken Katsu & Gravy was amazing! The chicken was a tad bit undercooked in the center but the curry gravy was the best I'd ever had. The Lumpia was fresh and tasty and the Macaroni Salad was delicious! I was sitting next to someone that ordered the Shave Ice and she said it was very good! Overall, with this place being new, I'm sure they still have a few kinks to work out but the food was absolutely delicious. There's a few tables and a bar area to sit at if you choose to dine in. I went to Ohana and Co around 2pm on a Saturday. It was busy with a steady flow of people coming in and out, which makes sense since they're newly opened. We opted to take our food to go since there are limited seating options. If you are with a big group, I would suggest coming during non peak hours. The menu is very broad and covers a lot of food items you'd typically find in Hawaii, everything from spam musubi to plate combos and desserts. My husband and I each got a 2-protein entrée for $20 (April 2026 pricing). Each plate came with short grain sticky rice, macaroni salad, and ginger salad. For proteins, we tried teriyaki beef, char siu chicken, and huli huli chicken. The teriyaki beef stood out. It was tender, flavorful, and a generous portion. I personally tried the huli huli chicken and felt it was solid, but I'd probably ask for extra sauce next time because it leaned a bit plain on its own. For dessert, I ordered a shave ice to share, specifically the Lolo 'ono ($15: ube base with tapioca, mango, and coconut). That was good, light flavor profile and not overly artificial & sweet. One thing I was super excited to try was their mango sticky matcha. I loved it! The matcha was smooth without any graininess. Much like the shave ice, this had a light mango flavor without coming off artificial or too sweet. I'm a big fan of inclusions in my drinks so the tapiocas and jellies were the perfect addition! Total for two entrées, one shave ice, and a regular matcha came out to about $70 after tax. Overall, Ohana and Co. is a convenient all-in-one spot for Hawaiian food, desserts, and drinks!! I was really excited for a new Hawaiian spot to open up and heard some really good things about this place. Just went here recently and the expectations fell short but hopefully the quality will improve soon with some time! Theres a few tables here along with some bar seating which was a bit different but still cool. Can see it getting pretty crowded during peak times. I personally got the garlic shrimp plate and it was a little lacking for me. The shrimp was cooked well but the seasoning and garlic flavor was very very subtle and could have used more salt too. Wished it came with at least one side with the combo but all sides are extra. Other things our party got was lumpia which was decent but somehow ran out of chili sauce and it wasn't even 6pm yet. My friend got the poke bowl and for $20 it looked like an appetizer portion vs a real entree and didn't include any typical poke toppings like seaweed salad, crab salad, edamame, etc. lastly the shaved ice was not smooth like how it should be and it was too sweet as well. I don't think I was expecting too much but this place fell short of an authentic Hawaiian food spot. I liked it but my wife not as much. The service is a counter style and they bring it to you after you order. I will say that there is limited seating inside for large groups. I am extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled. Two weeks after dining at Ohana & Co., the restaurant publicly posted a photo of me on social media, implying that I had left without paying for my drinks. This accusation was completely false. I immediately contacted the owner, and I have the receipt clearly showing that my bill was paid in full. Rather than verifying the facts before making a public accusation, the restaurant chose to post a customer's image online. Although the post was removed after I called, the embarrassment and damage had already been done. Mistakes can happen, but businesses have a responsibility to investigate before publicly accusing customers of wrongdoing. A private conversation would have resolved this immediately. Because of the way this was handled, I have lost confidence in this establishment and will not be returning. I hope they improve their communication and verification process so no other customer has a similar experience. read more

Stopped in for dinner since it is way too hot to cook. Brought my son with me. He got the loco moco and I got the katsu curry, minus the curry LOL! I'm not a fan of curry. One of the very kind ladies working there asked me after I sat down if I wanted brown gravy or any sauce. I asked for katsu sauce and she brought me a cup. Everyone there was super friendly and kind. We got our food and everything was hot and delicious. My katsu was fried perfectly. The only bummer was it didn't come with Mac salad but that's my own fault for assuming. Very clean and inviting area! As for the food, I got two poke bowls to go, a phin coffee and a smoothie. Before I get in to the review, I would come back and give their other entrees a try but judging from what I got today, it was good but could be better. The poke was fresh and they really nailed the authentic taste of it however for $20 a bowl... I expected more. I don't know if it's because I got it to go but regardless, it was pretty small. The phin was good but Vietnamese coffee is supposed to smack you in the face and I can't say this one did. The smoothie was refreshing and the perfect balance of sweet. Overall, I really like the concept and I'm glad there's a new place to get Hawaiian food here and it's worth checking out but be warned the poke will not fill you up. read more
