FOR THE LOVE OF THE BAGEL If your a lover of the bagel then this maybe the place for you. Now I am no bagel conesuer by any means, that being said, even I can tell the difference between those store bought and fresh daily made bagels. This has been the one of the things that had brought me back those first few times. at first I wasn't sure if I wanted to believe the person that told us that the bagels are freshly made daily. Once the word has gotten out about this place, I could almost watch as the boxes for day old and freshly made bagels all but gets sold out before noon. I started to come in at the same time maybe every other day to get a 6 pack of their "everything" bagels, and I liked the day-old ones not just because they had been a little cheaper, but because of the mouth feel. After Christmas came around the day old bagels had become all but empty almost every day that I came in or had another come in for me as they bought some for their house. they also have a few other verities to choose from. My other favorite is the plain and sesame seed, but there are at least five to seven to choose from if your there in time to grab any before others do. In whatever you might pick, there all made with love and very consistent day by day. It looks like they may support some local artists and maybe some odds and ends that help the bagel industry. Don't quote me though, you'll have to come see for yourself! read more

Amazing bagels, of course, in lots of creative flavors in addition to the standards. But also great breakfast sandwiches (our two family favorites are the one with lox and the one with chorizo). If you get there at dinner time, the build-your-own-burgers are delicious and a great value. Our family loved the truffle fries, too. And we just found out they have gluten free bagel and bun options! read more

Cute location and kind service. Choked a little on the price...almost $20 for a bagel sandwich (no pickle, no chips) and a bottled iced tea plus 15% tip. If it had been something amazing, I'd maybe be ok with the pricing. However, I can get an amazing bagel sandwich at the Bagelry in Bham with chips and pickle for $10. I'd rather go to a sit down in Anacortes for full service for a $20 tab. read more

Was excited to try this new place in Anacortes, a town lacking a good bagel. The atmosphere is appealing, and the staff are friendly, but my experience wasn't great. Frist, I was surprised by how expensive the bagels are. Each bagel is $3.00-$3.50--with nothing on them! That means a dozen bagels will run you at least $36.00! This isn't even NYC! The staff had trouble with my simple order: toasted sesame bagel with butter. The first one came out with cream cheese. The second one came out dry--toasted with nothing on it. After alerting the server, by the time she brought me a pad of cold butter in a plastic container with a plastic knife, the bagel was stone cold and the butter did not easily spread. I get that it's a new place, but I left disappointed. The latte I ordered was fine, but despite "eating in," it was served in a take-away cup. When I asked about getting a mug, I was told they don't have ceramic mugs big enough for the latte. Really? Disappointed to see a coastal town relying so heavily on single-use plastic and take-out containers for their in-house service. I'm hoping they will iron out the kinks soon. I'll give them another try because I really want this new business to succeed. read more

The staff are nice but the problem here is the price. $14 for a bagel sandwich. This doesn't include chips or a drink, just the sandwich. The sandwich was really wet and messy. Taste was good. read more

Dude. Seriously the best bagel I have ever had. Great music and super good atmosphere/decor. The coffee was good too! It was super reasonably priced too and it didn't taste like everything was just from Costco in bulk. Definitely recommend! We will be back whenever we can be. read more

Just had delicious, fresh jalapeño and cheese bagels with salmon spread. So pleased with the quality and service.

Better than good! Not only are the bagels and sandwiches delicious, they also nailed it with an amazing assortment of house made cream cheeses and yummmmmy coffee (try the cardamom rose latte!). In addition to all this, they have friendly employees and a cozy ambience to enjoy your delicious bagel (or pastry or coffee or local beer/wine). We need more places like this in Anacortes! We stopped in on our way from the ferry after friends recommended it (they went twice in one weekend). We thought the burger was good and the day old bagels were fantastic, with a special shout-out to the seed coverage on the everything bagels. We moved to the PNW from Brooklyn so we are always on the lookout for great bagels! We loved meeting Alex (the owner) and we are rooting for this place - a great space and sweet atmosphere. Wish we could have stayed for the cribbage tournament?! We'll be back on our next drive through Anacortes. read more

I think I wrote a previous review of the bagels here, but since they started serving dinner I thought I'd write another. I don't go to a lot of burger joints, I don't eat beef or pork, and if you can't get a bacon cheeseburger what's the point. But I came in the other day just to check the menu and ended up ordering a Caesar salad with shrimp. It was very good, I mean it's hard to mess up the salad portion, but it's easy to overcook shrimp, and these were cooked perfectly. I noticed then, that as well as beef, they had a turkey and a vegetarian (vegan?) option. I decided to try their turkey burger. They have a build your own burger, which at eight dollars is a steal. I ordered a turkey burger with Swiss cheese and a side of garlic fries (four dollars, three for plain fries). The burger was very tasty! I ordered it with spicy mayo, but I asked for just a light amount, next time I'll ask for the full thing, because it had good flavor. The bread was terrific! I don't know if they make it there, although it is a bakery (albeit a bagel bakery), so maybe they do? It was really one of the best turkey burgers I've ever had, the patty was juicy, the toppings were fresh, and the condiments really worked well with the burger. The fries were okay, not great, but I love potatoes, so I'm not complaining. They weren't really crispy, and I didn't get a big hit of garlic, but I'd order them again. Hopefully they work on the fries and perfect them to the level of their burgers. They just started serving dinner recently, and there weren't a lot of people, they deserve more evening business. They also serve some bottled beer, it looks like a good selection, but I'm not a beer connoisseur, so I only mention it in passing. I hope they catch on with the dinner crowd so I can keep getting my turkey burger fix. read more

Poor customer service made my visit disappointing. The cashier took a phone order ahead of my in-store order. She said I couldn't have a ceramic coffee cup because it was only an hour before closing and the final annoyance, she brought out the smelly mop bucket and started mopping around the tables when there were still 8 customers trying to enjoy their food and drink. I've tried the bagels here three times now, which I think is appropriate for a review. I was extremely excited to have a decent bagel shop in town, I LOVE bagels! I have tried two of their sandwiches and was surprised both times at how they could be so wet and messy, but the bagels themselves so dry at the same time. They are quite small and dry yet tough, not chewy like a bagel should be. The flavors are sub par, especially for the price, $14. I have also had the bagel with cream cheese once and was blown away at the price for a simple bagel with cream cheese, $5.50! The everything bagel had far too much salt on it, and I love salt. I wouldn't mind paying these prices for extraordinary products, but not for what is there currently. There are much better choices in town for sandwiches that leave you satisfied. As far as bagels, take the drive to Oak Harbor or Mount Vernon and grab some Whidbey bagels. Far superior on their own or as a sandwich (and less expensive)! read more

Happy to see something like this in the area, I hope they consider utilizing their space to offer more types of baked goods which is something Anacortes could use more of. A general bakery would likely do well. On the bagels themselves I give a so-so rating, meaning they weren't bad but certainly far from impressive. Specifically they were small and misshapen in size (not a deal breaker of course but not what I was expecting), a bit too dense, a bit bland in taste and despite purchasing them in the morning still didn't feel super fresh. The environment leaves much to be wanted, it's not a particularly comfortable or inviting place to sit and eat which is why we took ours to-go. The price point that I see other reviews knocking is simply a reflection of the cost it takes to run a business in this area and supply cost which I'm happy to pay for if it's a quality product. On the whole it's a great idea and I truly hope this business improves and grows, either a comfortable and character filled environment and/or a product that's better than what I could get at the local grocery store would bring us back regularly.
