Delivery was late. There was also no apology for being tardy or even any acknowledgement of the lateness. I was rushing to make sure I was there on time within the delivery window, only for it to arrive well after that. Caramel cake did not taste good at all and was also dry. I was very disappointed and caramel can be hard to find too, so I had really been looking forward to it. The written message on this cake was also pretty sloppy. I could have saved way more money and gotten a cake from Kroger that would have tasted better and might have looked better too. The chocolate cake was pretty good and more moist, and the writing/lettering on the cake looked very good. Probably different people worked on each cake. I would NEVER order from this place again. I would like to start off by saying I really enjoy this bakery but let me start off with my dislikes, the parking is terrible I really wish they had a parking lot. I tried the golden cake with chocolate icing it tasted amazing while it was cold but once it became room temperature it didn't taste the best. The red velvet jar was amazing and the cake was actually red. The service was decent could be better but that just comes with additional training but it could improve. This review is for the elite event. Got the German chocolate cake per their recommendation of something that is not too sweet yet a best seller. I loved it. It was filled with decadent chocolate, coconut, other nuts, filling sandwiched between chocolate cake. Little bit too sweet for me though. I could only finish 1/5 before being full. Ambiance was a cute little dessert shop, not fancy but well designed. My server was Lauren - she was nice and assisted me in packing my cake. Their cakes are huge, so prepare for leftovers for multiple days! In that sense if I was to pay for it it would be worth the money. The person who helped me hadn't tried a couple of things I was eying. We had a wide range of things: chocolate chip cookie, sugar cookie, lemon blueberry loaf, pineapple upside down cake and peach cobbler. My favorite was the peach cobbler I would recommend their peach cobbler to any and everyone it's so good. My kids loved the cookies they are big and not too sweet. We weren't fans of the lemon blueberry or pineapple upside down cake they really didn't offer any flavor, they were not nasty but it was rather tasteless. To start, the parking situation is horrible. I know that's not the businesses fault per se, but it's difficult to find a location to park. I ended up parking in the neighborhood and walking to the front entrance. Walking up, I loved the outside decor, and how fancy it looked. Would have loved to have other yelpers there to take a photo with. Going inside, I loved the interior design. Everything looked very fancy and it smelled amazing. Customer service was extremely friendly and kind as well. I went with the Vegan Birthday Cake. They have many other vegan options as well. The cake itself was alright. The cream is a bit thick, but nothing too crazy. The cake wasn't as moist as I thought it would be. I also disliked the sheet of paper they place under the cake. I get the reason for it, but pieces of the paper were getting into the cake as I was eating it. I loved the wristband idea, and the overall decor. Will I be back? This nice bakery has cute outdoor seating where you can eat your goodies. The front door is locked but you can either place an order online or over the phone. When your order is ready, they place it on the table that is near the front door. We got a Strawberry crunch cupcake and a Fruity Pebbles cupcake. They were both good and I liked the fact that they were a normal size with a normal amount of frosting. They were the size that cupcakes used to be when you took them to school to celebrate your birthday. Yes there's a church pew inside. It's a fun looking spot, great marketing, it's everywhere. You can finally find that in their many news, articles or features on television shows, but if you want proof for yourself, head down to Livernois Avenue and grab yourself a slice of any of their cakes. You walk into this beautifully decorated pink explosion of a cake shop with a great patio out front where you can enjoy that slice. They do have seasonal flavors that change every so often but their red velvet is truly divine. This moist delightful cake with a velvety cream cheese frosting is unbeatable. As most red velvet cakes can be overly sweet, this one rides the edge where you can easily go in for that second slice by without feeling overwhelmed. When placing an order for cakes, the staff recommends that you do it online, and even if you walk in the store, you do still have to pull your phone out to have the order go through online, but the turnaround time is very quick looking at less than 24 hours. read more

This was my first time trying GCAB and I wanted to support a small, Black owned business to order cinnamon rolls for my family Christmas brunch. In short, I am disappointed. In long -- At least 2 weeks before my desired pickup date (12/24), I called the shop to inquire the best way to place my order. The young lady on the phone told me ordering online was best, so I did just that. I chose my pickup time for 5pm on 12/24 and it was confirmed. The day of pickup, I get a call a little after 3pm stating that my order was still at the shop. I said yes, my pickup time is 5pm. The woman on the phone said no, we closed at 2:30pm today. Well that was news to me! They expected me to drop everything I was doing to come pick up my order ASAP! I let them know I live 30 minutes away and they said someone will be at the shop until 3:45pm giving me exactly 30 minutes from the end of our conversation to get to the shop. Not only is this unfair to me, but it's terrible customer service! I had my whole day planned out around the 5pm pickup time. I can not express my disdain about this situation, especially because it is the first impression. Now let's get to the actual product. When I got home, I was so excited for the cinnamon rolls! They look unappetizing and sunken in. When I had one the next day (12/25), the flavor was underwhelming. Maybe if they were fresh, it would've been better but it could be a lot more cinnamony and indulgent. Nothing to write home about. Overall, I doubt I'll be back. I really wanted to support a small business but it didn't even come close to my expectations or the hype surrounding it. I am a home baker and have made much better baked goods, including cinnamon rolls. I would not recommend ordering from GCAB and I am just so very disappointed about this terrible experience. read more
