Good Guys Contracting recently completed a very complicated Hardie Board shingles residing job for us. We were most pleased with the work they did. The crew on the job, under the supervision of Alfonso, was one of the most professional crews that ever did work on our house. They showed up on time every day, were very quiet but worked hard all day. They were very neat and organized. At the end of each day, all of their equipment was stored very neatly and they swept up each day. Each of the guys on the crew took pride in doing first class quality work. The work involved a replacement of Hardie Board shingles that had been improperly installed many years ago by another installer. Good Guys did a great job in replacing the shingles that had to be replaced while at the same time trying to salvage some of the older shingles that could be repurposed. And they performed the work totally in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications, unlike the prior contractor we had used. When they were done, the entire outside of our house looked brand new. We dealt with David the company owner. He was very straight forward and honest. He did not make promises that he could not deliver. At the end of the job, we got everything we were promised on budget with no game playing. I was interested residing my house with James Hardie siding and doing a new roof. Well after finding this contractor on the James Hardie preferred re modelers list I made an appointment. For my first appointment nobody showed up, no phone call, no explanation. Three weeks later they called to follow up with my project and explained that I never received an estimate and that nobody showed up for the appointment. They said they couldn't understand how that could happen and said they would send someone that week. Scott Ornellas came to expect my house and claimed he would have the estimate for me early that week. Three weeks later I get a phone call from Scott saying he wanted to sit with me to explain a 26 page estimate. I asked for a copy in advance so I could review it before our meeting and I was denied. Saying it was against company policy but Scott said he would get something in writing for me before our meeting. Three weeks later I received nothing. All I can say is that this company is very unprofessional and any company that is not willing to let me review an estimate has something to hide. It was completely a negative experience and I would recommend them under any circumstance. read more

We found Good Guys Contracting during our search for better alternatives to vinyl siding. Our big ugly house was in desperate need of new siding (it was covered in old cedar tongue and groove that hadn't been touched in 35+ years) and a replacement 2nd story deck. I did my due diligence and met with many contractors and got estimates from quite a few (at least 10) but Scott and Dave were by far the best. Not only were they knowledgeable, HONEST and professional but they were actually really great guys. They went out of their way to get us what we wanted while keeping us within our budget, which was no easy task. We can't say enough about these guys; Scott, Dave, Ted and the whole crew were amazing. It was such a relief to have had our project completed without any aggravation and by guys who took the time to do the job right. Dave and Alfonso were great to work with, and addressed all of our concerns. They worked with us and adjusted our estimate throughout the process when we decided to remove things that weren't necessary, or add things that would make the final result better. Hardie Board siding, Marvin windows and a new cornice have made our modest Brooklyn row house look extraordinary! There are a lot of construction delays as the pandemic drags on, and weather can also slow down a project, so keep this in mind when planning. Good Guys did excellent work in spite of all the challenges. The cost was affordable and the result is beautiful. read more

If you want your work done right look for the Good Guys. I had my work done with another and needed repair and additional work. I called the company that did it and they were too busy to call me back. Good Guys were on the hardie board website as recommended and they came and immediately saw things that they told me will end up being problems in the future. I had to wait a little while to get them to the house but the job is flawless. They fixed things that bothered me for years. Don't waste your time getting estimates. These guys are the real deal. I can't say enough about this company. To embark upon a large project with people that you don't know and have not worked with before can be precarious but I can say that there was nothing but respect and professionalism which surrounded this project and that is extremely important when people are working on your home with family. It was difficult to find anyone to fix a leaking Marvin window on my hardie board faced house. Good guys worked me into their schedule, as they were working on an installation on a house close by in the neighborhood. They were hired to repair a drip cap and re-silicone top and bottom sill of one window. On repair day, they did more work than was originally contracted for, but kept the cost the same as the original quote. concrete siding is falling off my house on all four sides, every single seam, and Dave was the project manager, now he's sales and design. workmanship guarantee is still active, let's see if he could stop stalling and fix his work sometime this year. this past year was all lip service.
