It's disconcerting to have someone come in, look all around your house, not take any notes, leave and then not follow-up in any way. I do not recommend them. I've been trying to get an estimate for the repair of almost all windows in the house for over 2 months. Robert reviewed the windows on Tuesday, Feb 20 and it is now May 6. I'm still waiting for the estimate for, let alone scheduling of, the work. Many text messages (they *do not* answer their phone - it goes straight to voicemail, telling you to text them) later, they've stopped even replying to text messages. I used Quality windows to install 13 new windows in my house about 2 yrs ago. I paid over $30,000 and am very unhappy with quality of the windows and the level of service. Recently I had to repair one of the windows, the window would not open or close properly. I called Quality Windows and they told me they know longer serviced customers in NYC. They recommended Vali Windows in Brooklyn instead. The Vali technician said the problem was that the balance coil was broken. He said for such a large window that a balance coil should not have been used and he replaced it with a spiral which he said was appropriate for that size window. It cost me $200 to fix a 2 yr old window. He further said he would not have installed vinyl windows that large and said they should have been another type of window. I have subsequently learned that on the Marvin windows that were installed (half my windows are Marvin and the other half Kenninston), I had the option of half screens instead or full screens. I find the full screens very, very cumbersome. I have spent about $200 per window replacing full screens with half screens. I was NEVER told when I purchased the Marvin windows, I had an option. I tried to address the issues with Quality Window but they have been unresponsive. I tried calling them and it went straight to voice mail and the message said to send them an email instead. I sent them an email outlining my concerns about 2 weeks ago. I have not heard a word from them. I CANNOT recommend Quality Windows. read more

Contacted them, they sent someone to take a look and quote me. I agreed to work with them and they never called me back. I called them to see where they were and when they could do the repair but they told me they would call back. Never did. What kind of company does that? If you can't do it, then just tell me instead of leaving me hanging. Update: I recently reviewed a phone call from I would assume is the manager. I had assumed it was to set things right but little did I know, that wasn't the case. He called me to force the blame on me and not take responsibility for their mistakes. Then proceeded to bring religion into the conversation and essentially hoping something negative will happen to me in the future. Made an appointment with Robert to come by and sound proof our bedroom window. For anyone who lives in the city, you will understand the intense noise levels that go on during the early morning rush of garbage and delivery as well as the loud, obnoxious people who cannot hold their alcohol on the weekends. Robert came by for a free consultation, where most places would charge $125-$200 for a visit. For these other places you would need to use their services in order to have their visit charge credited back to you. He was on time and efficient, gave me a great price and my appointment was set. On the day of our appointment he was in and out of the apartment in under an hour. Once completed he stayed behind for a good ten minutes to listen to the traffic and noise to ensure that I was happy with the improved quietness. Out of nowhere he realizes he did not change the weather strips (furry strips at the end to keep out noise), I would not have known any better if he was left without mentioning it. He did not have the strips on him (his partner took the work truck to pick up his kids from school) so he promised to come back the following week. He refused to take ANY money from me although he was about 98% done with the job. He said he won't settle the tab unless he was 100% done, and I was 100% happy. In the end, he did come back, finished up the job (you would be surprised how much these little strips help keeping out the noise) and here is the kicker! He refused to accept a tip for his work. I wouldn't let him leave unless he took the tip, so we had a 5 minute standoff. He finally caved and took it, I made him promise to take his partner out to lunch at the very least. As a guy who was born and raised in Queens now living in Manhattan, my advice is don't trust the city prices - go back to Queens and find good help for a much more reasonable price. Very personable and ethical team. Although there was a scheduling snafu on their end that delayed the project a few days, Sierra was so nice about it, it was hard to be too upset. They are based in Queens and sounds like they are not in Manhattan every day. However I think it's worth a few extra days for quality work and excellent customer service! Robert (?) came to measure and was very helpful in his assessment. Instead of upselling me another screen, he suggested they just re-mesh an old torn one that I had. Saved me a bit of $. My COOP building required a Certificate of Insurance before the installation job and I was late in giving Sierra the information. Without a complaint, she returned it to me the next day. The guy who came to install was on time (a rarity in this city), extremely efficient and polite. I had 8 window screens installed and one re-meshed on the spot in under an hour. I also had a glass replaced in a window by them on another day; also beautiful and efficient job. As a long time home owner in New York, I've dealt with a lot of companies for home repairs etc. I am shocked by how nice AND competent everyone in this company is. And their prices are fair. They seem to be a throw back to the honest, hard working and competent mom and pop type of shop dependent on word of mouth that is so hard to find these days. From the moment Jenny picked up the phone, I understood all the glowing reviews. She gave me more information in the first 5 minutes of conversation than the 2 days I wasted with the other place. She squeezed me in for a measure the very next morning, Rob was prompt and friendly, and Jenny followed up via email and phone without me having to chase after her. My window was to arrive during the week that Jenny was due to give birth. The week before, she called to say she wanted to close all the open jobs before she left. Fabulous service! We had several windows that needed to be repaired. We went to a couple of window stores in our neighborhood (Greenpoint) and all they could say is "You need new windows." Robert came by to take a look at them and told us that our windows are in excellent condition and only needed to have the balancers replaced. He gave us the estimate, which was extremely reasonable, and fixed them a week later. They are like brand new! We also had the pane replaced in our kitchen window because there was condensation trapped between the panes. I had a broken window and wasn't sure If I can fix it or will have to spend a lot more money to replace it. I saw that Quality Window Service & repair have so many 5 stars reviews on Yelp, I thought it might be a good idea to call them first. Jenny was very nice on the phone and set an appointment fairly soon. They came and said that most likely they have the part to fix the window. They charged me $35 for the visit and said that they will apply it against the repair expenses. They followed up very quickly said that they can fix it and set another appointment. Manny came on the 2nd appointment, very nice and courteous, and fixed the window in no time. They sure deserved all the 5 stars they got, and earned one more from me. Thank you. read more

This is as good as it gets as far as small business doing local work. I have older windows which had been replaced more than 15 years ago. Crumbling caulk was causing rain damage to sills. Rob did a quick and fair estimate for caulk, window repairs where needed and new sill. He never pushed new windows and deferred some work until he could determine where cold drafts were coming from, so I'll ask him to return when the temperature drops. Jenny is a gem and was so helpful when it came to setting up my free (yes free!) in-home estimate/evaluation and setting up my actual installation. She was honest and extremely patient with my multiple calls and bajillion questions. The cost was super reasonable (with no pushy up-selling!) and they were able to come and take care of this quickly. Rob (I believe) who did the free in-home estimate was super punctual and also able to help me assess how to fix my bathroom window which wasn't staying up on it's own. And the guy who came and installed the screens and fixed the window worked quickly. I came home from work one afternoon and discovered a crack on the window in my living room - unfortunately my management company refused to repair it, so I was left to my own devices. I called around a couple of places, but I found the person who answered the phone here to be the most helpful and courteous, so I set up an initial estimate (which is free, by the way). Robert and his partner came out to my apartment in no time and explained all my options. They were fast, friendly and even stuck around to play with my dog for a bit. Had a great time working with Arianna, Rob, Manny, & James. They came in and replaced 9 windows & repaired 3. Of course with any home repair/replacements issues will occur but they dealt with all issues as a team and chose the best/least damaging option for our house. I'd use these guys for a cheap window repair but not for installation/replacement. They only install aluminum windows, which aren't energy-efficient. And they cut corners on the labor, leaving the old casings in, for instance. The man who gave me the estimate seemed stymied by the window bars, which is something other companies (that regularly do window installations) didn't blink an eye at. He also didn't seem very educated on engineering matters compared to people at Windows Are We or Bay Ridge Window and Door. These two companies charge a lot more but seem to be more knowledgeable and thorough. These Yelp reviews here make me think that Yelp users base their contractor ratings more on price and friendly service than the long haul. read more

I was at my wit's end trying to find window repair people near me for a residential repair-- I found numbers in the Yellow pages and I grabbed numbers from the side of repair vans. I had to get a single window pane fixed in our apartment for a while now, and Jenny had me take photos to give them a survey of what type of window it was, then I had someone come to measure it and look at it in person to give me an estimate. It was easy to work with Jenny to get a lot of the scheduling and deposits, etc. together and in on time. I also found the repairmen really polite and patient when they answered all of my questions. I called Quality after realizing 3 out of 5 of my windows in my Bay window unit had lost their seal and humidity was building up between the panels causing a dirty streak look. Rob came out and gave me a great price that was a fraction of having the unit replaced. A little over a week later he was back to install the windows. Great experience! Rob came out to repair the shattered glass in my double pane window, which was a good 7ft off the ground. He worked hard to minimize glass getting everywhere and was extremely careful of my furniture and making sure that my wood floor didn't get scratched. He even windex-ed the new window glass before he put it in so i wouldn't be staring at finger prints for eternity! These guys are honest, hard working, and willing to work with your schedule. Robert was excellent! Don't waste your time and just use Quality Window for your repairs. We live in Manhattan and had 11 double hung windows that needed to be fixed as only one actually opened. I did my homework, and spoke to what were ranked the top ten windows repair places in the NY area (Yelp & Google). Let me tell you, it was frustrating. I had people refuse to give me a ballpark estimate over the phone, people who reserved a four hour slot to provide an estimate and didn't show up, people who wanted to charge $150 just to provide the estimate and people who wanted to charge $185 by the hour and ended up underestimating the job by about four hours. Our lives can be busy and both your time and money are valuable. For the estimate, Robert told me he'd be at my home at 1pm (not a four or six hour slot) and arrived on the dot. When we agreed to do the work, he met me at the office with a contract. On the day we scheduled to do the repairs, Robert got sick (it happens). He rescheduled, knocked a little off the price and agreed to come in on a weekend due to my busy work schedule. He arrived promptly on our rescheduled day and repaired all of our windows while cleaning up behind themselves as they completed the work. Robert even repaired one window that had an issue completely unrelated to the main job. When the job was completed, a final paid receipt was immediately e-mailed to me. I'd say that compared to the other's that I spoke to or met, Robert had by far the most professional and courteous operation. Now my windows all work! If you have to spend a decent sum of money for repairs, the last thing you want is someone who thinks or acts like they are doing you a favor. We were so pleased with Robert who was professional throughout the process and did a fantastic job with our windows. The estimate wasn't the cheapest, but was very fair and nowhere close to the most expensive. As I said in the beginning, don't waste your time, just go with Robert and Quality Windows. read more
