The wait is definitely worth it for this spot. Both times I've come, there has been one but they will text you once you're ready. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor seating has fans and shade. I actually prefer the outdoor seating as I feel there's more room to move around in. The aesthetic of this place is super duper fun to gaze upon. We got the BestSandwichYou'llEverHaveinYourLife (that's if I got that name right), which was in fact quite delectable. It was spiced well, and appears the be the equivalent of a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The Shroom Chips were tasty- they also came with great spice and are paired well with an optional spritz of lemon and their chipotle aioli. The fries are also seasoned well and are tasty. Tried takeout recently, it was delicious! The breakfast platter had the crispiest hash browns and it was nice to get it with mushrooms to complement the peppers in a veg meal. Went to this diner on a Sunday with a friend and had about a 30-minute wait. Thankfully, they have a setup with the coffee shop next door, so we didn't have to stand in the cold. The food was good overall, but I liked my friend's meal more than mine. She had a burger hash with pancakes, which was way more exciting than my basic burger and tater tots. The real star of the show was the milkshake. The peach cobbler milkshake was amazing, and they have some really creative options. I'd definitely recommend this diner. Some successes, some failures, but this past Tuesday, my curiosity got the better of me and I made the decision to stop in for breakfast. First of all, breakfast on weekdays needs more love. The experience feels more laid-back and intimate without the weekend brunch chaos. Good Ol Days Diner/Winfield's Diner is spacious and welcoming and has an abundance of natural light. The artwork is a hybrid of a modern Black history museum and a juke joint from the 1970s. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive and we were seated right away. The Bacon Bacon Egg and Cheese was so good. It included "smash browns," a clever combination of hash browns and tater tots that were just mashed enough to resemble a comforting pile of potatoes. I will most certainly return because it's in the neighborhood and the prices are reasonable. I hope this one endures because it has a lot of potential to become a mainstay. read more

I couldn't wait to go to GOD-Winfield's Diner, and I finally got the chance to go to celebrate a friend. There know that there is a wait, particularly on the weekends. Nevertheless, it's worth it. We chose to eat outside so we could talk, because the noise level was a little high inside. The backyard space was so chill and nice. We were able to hear one another, but also enjoy the music. They played a lot of 70s soul music, which was enjoyable for Sunday afternoon. The art installations on the outside walls were funky and creative. Now back to the food. I ordered a lemonade, mint drink that was really ref and tasteful and not over saturated with sweetness like most lemonades. My friend ordered onion rings and chicken fingers. The onion rings were huge, homemade crunchy deliciousness. Initially, my homegirl ordered the chipotle sauce for her onion rings, but found the spice to be too much for her, so she opted for tartar sauce. Spice doesn't affect me the way it affects a lot of people and I was fine with either. I ordered the bacon Chicken, ranch salad, because I'm trying to be more mindful lol. It was so so so so so good. The chicken had a little kick, and the decision to use baby spinach was perfect. The salad was somewhat delicate, but at the same time hearty. The only thing that will keep me from walking over to this diner weekly are my dietary goals. There are way too many menu items that I want to try, but I must pace myself. Long wait times here on weekends - I guess that means plenty of time to write a Yelp review! The seating process is very confusing and it doesn't seem like the staff are very organized for the most part, although the service was very friendly overall. Don't come hungry on weekends, it took over 45 mins after ordering to actually get our food. Granted the staff warned us the kitchen was slow so I guess that one's on us. They also offered to comp us a muffin which was much appreciated. Fire alarm went off due to smoke from the kitchen which would've been an extremely annoying and headache inducing, but the staff took it with great humor and was quite apologetic. Onto the food itself - after almost an hour of waiting, we got chicken sandwiches, grits and eggs. The food was decent but not spectacular. As a potato lover and transplant of nearly a decade originally from the south, I've seen more skillet potatoes than hash browns when it comes to breakfast potatoes in this area, so the Smash Browns were v refreshing. Not to mention, the indoor dining area is very cozy and the place is Black-owned and operated. Walked in here to try breakfast on a leisure walk. Food: 3/5 I ordered the fried catfish and grits. The fried catfish was seasoned well, I'd would have liked the grits to be a bit more flavorful.. they were creamy but lacked butter but nonetheless decent. I ordered the French toast which I expected to be crunchier on the outside with a side of smashed browns and sausage links. I left nothing behind; there is definitely something to be said about food that taste homemade!!! French toast was soft, sweet and filling. Smashed brown could use less of the scallion garnish but seasoned so well that I did NOT need ketchup. And the sausages reminded me of a weekend morning in my house calm and relaxed vibes.
