I was not keen on the sandwich board outside Good Stuff Eatery that incorrectly advertised the Nashville Hot sandwich as $7.65. I paid $12. I inquired about it after I ordered, and the counter guy was like, "Yeah, they changed all the prices last year." Well that's incredibly misleading. You don't get to keep luring people into your restaurant with an incorrect sandwich board, especially a price change of nearly SIXTY percent. Until that I was on board to love this place. Fried chicken sandwich on the menu? Check. Helmed by a former Top Chef? Check. Surprisingly reasonable prices? Check (though not as amazing as they first appeared). I got the aforementioned marked-up Nashville hot and it was good after I requested more bread and butter pickles. (Pickles are key to a good fried chicken sandwich.) But it wasn't the best fried chicken sandwich I've had either. Ironically that award might go to another Top Chef alum from the same season, Richard Blais, for his sandwich at Crack Shack in San Diego. The kids liked their burgers. The fries were really good - in fact they might have been the best part of the meal. But overall nothing blew me away. I probably should have tried their seasonal peach shake. Glad another location of the homegrown local chain opened up in Crystal City (not another Shack Shack or Five Guys!) with good vegetarian options. I got the Snack Fry and Drink combo deal for $6.50. I wish the Cheeseburger for the $17 lunch special (comes with fries, and drink) could be substituted with the Mushroom burger. I paid $12 Mushroom burger + $6.50 combo deal. The Steak fries were pipping hot and delicious, the highlight of my meal! I love the dipping sauce station, a galore of a dozen condiments to choose from! The Chipotle sauce was my go-to. The 'Shroom Burger is pretty tasty with a fried mushroom burger stuffed with Muenster and Cheddar Cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. The flavors blended well together and surprisingly filling. It's very similar to the Mushroom Burger at Shake Shack, I honestly can't tell the difference. The Strawberry Lemonade and Passionfruit juice were refreshing and on the sweeter side. My order was ready in 5 minutes and I relished a warm, satisfying meal under $20. Continuing my alphabet series into the letter G is Good Stuff Eatery representing prior to 2018. I used to go to the Crystal City Good Stuff Eatery often in the 2010's normally on a Saturday. Slightly surprised I never reviewed although I did review the Georgetown location, see my 4-stars there. There was a games Meetup that would meet at the Landing one Saturday a month. The Landing is no more as it's been redeveloped for Amazon. The majority of the times I ate at Good Stuff Eatery when I went to that games group as I knew it was great! Occasionally, I went to other places close to the Landing like an Asian place, Potbelly, etc., but nothing compared to Good Stuff. Excellent burger & fries and if I was feeling like going all out, great shakes too. I'd get a pretty basic burger as I'm not big on tons of toppings. I'd get all the dipping sauces for fries. They have more than just ketchup & mustard, neither of which I like. They have Old Bay, Chipotle, Sriracha, & more, which I'd get to dip fries in. Overall, if I'm ever back in Crystal City (or other area with a Good Stuff), I'd try to return. read more

I was confused when I first walked into Good Stuff Eatery because it looks JUST LIKE SHAKE SHACK. It even feels and sounds like a Shake Shack. I was really confused. Parking on the street in Crystal City was almost impossible. There is a garage nearby that charges $10, but street parking is mostly taken up or blocked by food pickup drivers waiting for orders.. I order a burger and it was a little disappointing. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was not a limp ..meh. Not the best burger I've ever had, not a good burger, but not a bad one. It had a pretty plain taste.. it was your basic hamburger that you get at a church, picnic or company function. I will give them points on price, it's about on par with Shake Shack but the prices are a little lower here. I liked the chili cheese fries but everything comes in a large paper bag, there are no trays. The milkshake was OK. Just a vanilla milkshake, nothing special. Overall I could not figure out what made this place so special. Why does it look like a Shake Shack? How is it different? Yes, I understand that everything is super fresh and farm raised, but those terms are so diluted and used by everyone today that it doesn't really mean anything to me. This has slowly become a go to spot for burgers shakes and fries! I order the good stuff melt, Cajun fries and a cookie and cream shake. The burger is delicious and cooked perfectly, and comes with onions mushrooms and cheese. The fries are good too and I love all the dipping sauce options you can choose from. I usually pick chipotle and ketchup. The cookie and cream shake is delicious and always well made. It's become a good comfort food spot for sure! read more

I ordered the double cheeseburger. The patties at this place are huge, and they came out a nice medium. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. I also got a snack size (small) side of fries and cherry blossom shake. The shake was delicious, the fires were hot and fresh, and the burger didn't last too long either. The place was clean. If shakes aren't your thing then you can serve yourself at the soft drink fountain. I came on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't crowded, but I bet the Crystal City folks find their way here during the lunch and early dinner sessions during the week. Came here on a Monday before the lunch rush. The service was quick but the line behind us racked up pretty fast. Also street parking is hard to find, I recommend the garage down the street. I ordered spikes sunny side burger along with the chili. Both tasted great. Portions were pretty filling for me, in fact I could only finish half my chili after eating my burger. As for the meat I like how it tasted like home made beef patties rather then premade ones. If you like shake shack you will like this place as well. I have no idea how this place has any good feedback. It is disgusting. And that's not just about the food. The amount of times we watched the lady doing the burgers cross contaminate is insane. I wonder how long the stack of raw meat sitting right next to the grill had been there before being cooked. Luckily, we didn't get a burger but we don't even want to know how they handle the chicken that we did get. Something keeps me coming back even though I give it a three star for the guilty feeling I get after eating here. The burgers, fries, and shake are all true to the name "good stuff," but they seem so unhealthy. It may be just the paper used to package the food that absorbs all the grease and makes it look so bad. Other restaurants probably avoid paper because of this fact but in a way this is a good thing because I don't eat the paper I throw it away and theres less grease on the food. I have tried the Prez Obama burger, the smokehouse burger, the shroom burger, and veggie burger. I probably would recommend the Obama one as best. read more

Great location right in Crystal City on a strip surrounded by other great restaurants. Fast and casual burger place to get lunch/dinner, but honestly nothing too special. Extremely friendly service and a lot of options on the menu. Opted to try the simple farmhouse burger with cheese and bacon. Their signature sauce was good but the burger was very average. It was just a 1/3 single patty burger, came out a bit greasy and overcooked (asked for medium) but did not taste bad. Middle of the road spot, the price is very affordable so might be worth another visit if I am in the area. I've been to the location in the airport in the early morning hours but this is my first time actually trying the burgers and I was thoroughly impressed. They're doing pretty well keeping folks safe during COVID. Dips are pre-packaged (but the person putting them in containers didn't have on gloves), they offer sanitizer, require customers to wear masks upon entry and provide some outdoor seating. Came here on two separate occasions. I have to say it's pretty good stuff! On my first visit, I asked for recommendations and was given a very detailed overview of some of the top selling items. I ended up settling on the Prez Obama Burger ($9) - consisting of applewood bacon, onion marmalade, roquefort cheese, and horseradish mayo. Burger was sweet as advertised due to the marmalade, but then you get that taste of blue cheese, which worked out pretty well. Bit messy to eat so have some napkins ready. I also got an order of regular hand cut fries ($4), which goes well with the burger. On the second visit, I ended up trying their biggest burger they offered: Big Stuff Bacon Meltdown ($11). This consisted of double patty, lots'a bacon, double cheese, ruby tomato, onions, lettuce, and pickle with "good stuff sauce". This was a lot more messier to consume, due to its size. Although it was very filling, I liked the Prez Obama Burger a lot better due to its taste. I also got a Salty Caramel Kiss Shake ($6), which was superb. Overall, this is a pretty solid spot to get burger, fries, and shakes in the area. Looking forward to trying the other burgers on their menu.
