What a treasure. Went there on the way to the airport. Great diner food! My eggs cooked perfect and chicken fried steak was wonderful

When it's mid night and you don't want regular fast food but the quality hasn't been the same in the last couple years.

I tried a Carnegie Diner in NY a few years ago, so it was cool to see that one opened in VA. The…read morerestaurant was very bright and spacious inside, with a classic American vibe. I was intrigued by the pastrami sandwich options on the menu and really appreciated that gluten free bread was an option, so I had to try it! I was not disappointed at all. The sandwich was hefty - packed with meat, and flavorful. I'm not sure I liked the pile of salad that comes on the side - it's a lot to finish for one person and seems a bit wasteful. The service was good, but the sandwiches did take a bit longer than expected to come out. That might not be the case for other dishes though. I would certainly visit again!

2 out of 3 isn't bad, but it's not great, either…read more Like other diners here in NYC and elsewhere, Carnegie has a huge menu and serves generous portions at appropriate prices. For example, yesterday, I had their Peter's Special, a sandwich made from 1/2 lb of pastrami and 1/2 lb of corned beef. Except that it's not "a" sandwich, but three, all on delicious rye bread, each with its own pickle, and a small helping of slaw, sauerkraut, and a major pile of salad. It was my lunch yesterday; the remaining two sandwiches are my lunch today and tomorrow. That's three meals for $30, which, to me, is a reasonable price. The problem was that the more they do to create the food, the less flavorful it is. For example, on another recent visit, I had their Country Style Omelet. Again, it was huge and contained everything that goes into a great omelet. Except, there wasn't a lot of flavor. And that seems to be the theme. I grabbed a slice of their 24-layer cake and, again, big but not much taste beyond sweetness. If you crave a lot of food, then this might be the spot for you. However, if you prefer less and more, smaller portions with better, more nuanced flavor, then maybe try one of the other nearby restaurants.

Lunch/brunch whenever spot if my other DC native girl friends want to meet up, and don't feel like…read morecooking or hosting Really great atmosphere, usually good service, and spacious tables in case one of us is exceptionally hungry. They do a great job of refilling coffee and tea in the afternoon. That's rare. The food is good, and so are the portions. Not too huge, but enough to forgive a good friend for stealing a bite. I always get scrambled eggs (2-3) and prey on my friend's pancakes when they aren't looking. Don't fret. We split the bill evenly.

Another DC restaurant group still charging an "I82" fee and then they come around with their card…read morereader and a default 20% tip preselected on top of the fee as if I82 wasn't an effort to reduce reliance on tips. As always seems to be the case, this place is run by a restaurant group, because I have yet to see a small independent establishment pull this nonsense. Food is passable albeit not great. Just note that in the name of "transparency" the prices are hiding the actual costs behind this fee. If you want to round it out to 20% with a tip, at least the fee tells you exactly how much that is. I have to assume the 10% fee is going to increased wages because that's what I82 is about. If the restaurant group is pocketing any of that balance then they are just stealing from their staff, which might explain why the staff is not upfront about the rationale for the fee.

Great Food, Vine & Customer Service!…read more I stopped in here for a quick bite with a friend before heading to an eye doctor appointment next door. I must say I really like the vibe of this place. Beeline Diner is one of diners that are retro-cool and has a neighborhood feel to it. It's very popular with the locals and folks that live around the area. I couldn't help but noticed how friendly the staff was and seemed to know their regular patrons. That's a great plus, in my book. The menu is loaded with lots of great options and your comfort food classics...including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. On this day, we tried the chicken & waffles and steak omelette. Both more delicious and was served fairly quick! The portions were great too definitely enough food to share. The check was tender, juicy and most of all.....seasoned!! lol The waffles were pretty standard on taste but I would say they fluffy and light. The steak omelette did not disappoint either. It was loaded with sirloin steak, cheese and onions! Every lift of my fork left me with bits of steak bites! My kind of meal for sure!!! The only negative about this dish is that the steak is not made to order or cooked to your preference (I.e. medium, medium rare, well done, etc.). Instead the steak it's already pre-cooked and I was told by the server that it is roughly around, medium-well. That might be okay for some, but I prefer my steak month medium side. Medium-well makes this dish and steak overcooked by the time it's delivered to you. This was the case for me. The sirloin steak was a bit on the tough side...as know as chewy. lol Other than this, I have nothing but great things to say about my first visit to this establishment. The customer service was on point and everyone was so friendly. This!...& the Chicken n' Waffles dish won me over. We left pretty full and satisfied....which was a little disappointing because the desserts in the display cases looked amazing and I really wanted to dive-in on one of them! In all, you can't go wrong with Beeline Diner. The food hits the spot and the price point is great too. I recommend and looking forward to coming back to try some of the other plethora of dishes they serve! :-)

Really thick and yummy bread, but I think it was more Caramel than Dulce de Leche (if you catch muy drift). Then, we shared the Mexican Breakfast and Traditional Benedict. Really loved the hash browns! Both were flavorful, but a bit pricey for a diner. The hollandaise sauce was an interesting texture... kind of like grits? Never seen that before, but it was pretty tasty. Service was great! Nice place for brunch with friends or family.

Nothing that matches my home throne. *4.0 out of 5* for the mens restroom. I was told women was just the same that day. Now regarding the actual restaurant! The vibe was great and the bar made it seem like I would go there for a shake when my wife isn't down for a breakfast lunch. *4.2/5* The mirrors made it feel nice and spacious for me. The food was awesome! It was exactly what I wanted from a place like this. The chicken waffle and bacon is what I want. Cooked well. Not to dry. Not to wet. Not burnt. Not undercooked. Not under cooked. Maybe I was lucked. Much better than IHOP. *4.5/5* for Chicken Waffle with bacon. Very happy. The syrup they use went very will with the food they cooked.Overall I like this breakfast house. It ended up to an average 17 per person for my multiple trips. So do as you will with that.
