Of all the sub restaurants in town, this is my favorite. Goodcents has always been a solid selection. A sub is a sub, right? You get bread, meats, veggies and condiments. You would think that all subs taste the same, wouldn't you? Yeah.. not hardly. Goodcents is just different and I honestly do not know why. The ingredients have always been fresh and they are not stingy with quantity. The choices here are not vast and the menu is simple but I think that makes it special, as well. It is a very basic offering. I am fine with basic and simple. Nothing is overdone. The ingredients at this restaurant have always been fresh from the bread to the veggies. They offer pasta salad and soups and they are great, as well. I have never had an issue with quality or taste at Goodcents. The owners and crew members here are very nice and helpful. They are willing to offer suggestions and they have always had good, speedy, friendly service. The prices are reasonable which is always a plus. There is plenty of parking and access is easy, easy. Order in store when possible and always check your sandwich before leaving! Second time I've ordered and my sandwich has not been completely wrong. I don't have any food allergies or dietary restrictions but adding bacon to a sandwich that clearly would not should ever have it is a grave mistake. Just double check when you can. I love coming to Goodcents strictly because of their bread. If I could eat a cloud, I would imagine it would taste something like Goodcents bread! I usually get the roasted turkey or veggie sub if I don't want any meat. I like how they freshly shave the meat to order, and all of their toppings always taste freshly cut. The service is fast & friendly, and the business is well kept and clean! I don't see too much of a difference between the two Goodcents we have in Lawrence besides the size of this one being bigger. They have chips, drinks, and cookies to order as a side or make it a combo. Either way their subs are always filling and fresh. Great pick for a quick lunch or a light dinner! Only thing I wish they had was the option to toast the sub, if they do I'm not aware of it. read more

March 29 2024. If you got sick after eating here (Lawrence store on Kasold), please know that I saw the sandwich preparer wipe his nose with his gloved hand while preparing sandwiches. Gave a blank stare when I asked him to change gloves after explaining why. so I just left. I stopped in here because Subway was too dang slow. Goodcents is just as expensive as Subway and both push you for tips. At least Subway's employees are trained in good food prep hygiene. Wish we had better options for inexpensive, more healthful food that is quick to pick up. Miss the grocery store salad bars! Yuck yuck yuck. If I could give negative Stars I would. The inconsiderate nature of this experience has made me decide to never go back to Mr Goodcents and tell all my friends about the lack of customer service. I walked in with my 1-year-old daughter who was whining from hunger and we were the only customers there. There were 2 men and one woman behind the counter, the older man took my order (one kids sandwich) and said nothing else so I walked forward to the register where two other people a woman and another man asked me about my order I told them and they offered to make the sandwich. The older man stopped them both from making my sandwich and said he would do it but he didn't, he proceeded to make several online sandwich orders at a very slow pace. We eventually left without a kids sandwich and it seemed that that was his intention but what a horrible experience and I still cannot understand how or why I offended this man so much that he'd deny me to buy my toddler a sandwich read more

Always my go to over other sandwich places especially when I'm in a hurry. They have the best prices $ the employees were friendly and quick. The broccoli soup was bland but again, good for the price. read more

I wanted lunch delivered and so I decided on this place. Their online site sucks, so i was forced to do over the phone. Ordered meal through DoorDash and noted to not put certain things into my meal. They did so I called and they would not refund they said door dash has to do that yet doordash said it was them. This is a fine and dandy sangweech shop. It certainly tastes fresher and better than Subway, but I don't think it's the best deli in Lawrence. Rather, it's just about "fine". I don't go there terribly often, because I must honestly say I have never said to myself, at lunch, "wow, I need some Goodcents!" Rather, if I need a sandwich, there are a myriad of places to go, and Jimmy Johns usually wins out. However, Goodcents is tasty and fresh and good...it's just not great. read more

I can't tell if my love of Mr Goodcents is because I'm burnt out on Subway and finally live close enough to MGC location or if the subs really do taste better? Anyway, I really like the sub selection. My favorite if the California Turkey Club with guacamole. Not the healthiest option, but I can't hate anything that pairs bacon with guacamole. Before a race, the fiance and I usually eat here because we can get bland pasta and a sub for our carb load. And yes, the pasta is bland. I've had the spaghetti and meatballs and the alfredo, but neither is stand out. Not a lot of spicy and definitely not your grandmother's recipe.. but before a race we don't want anything that isn't expected so it works out. I've previously had the chicken noodle soup and it left a yellow stain in the cup it was served in. Odd. Methinks this soup sits for a long while before it is served so take heed. I did love the egg noodles in it though! This Lawrence location has the new coke machine that lets you choose your drink and add flavors to it. Sandwiches are okay. Service is spotty (delivery only). If you call in the middle of the afternoon (like 2pm) they may not have a delivery driver, so it's a long wait. Right now at the peak time (6pm) on a weekday, the delivery wait is 1hour, 45 minutes. Um, I think it's time to hire another driver or schedule more than one during peak delivery times. Mr. Goodcents fills my need for "regular" sub sandwiches. They're not gourmet, and they don't claim to be, so it's all fine with me, The first few times I came here for quick alfredo pasta. It's okay. At least for the alfredo, it's something to get if you are hungry and just not in the mood to deal with anything too time intensive or complex. The subs are the better side of Mr. Goodcents. Like I said, not gourmet, but there is something in their simplicity that does make me crave them on occasion. I think like most folks today, I tend to be a wheat bread snob - I think to myself, "white or wheat? Why ever would you get white when wheat is better for you, more "natural," and has more flavor?" But at Mr. Goodcents, I say to myself, "I'm going to get white bread, because that's what a stereotypical non-pretentious sub is all about!" And it's good. I even get all crazy and get (Heaven forbid) American cheese. And that is good, too. I think the main unique thing about Mr. Goodcents is the thinly sliced meat, which they slice right before putting on your sandwich. And it's all nice and succulent and probably full of sodium-enriched juices. And that's good, too. My favorite, and the only sub I've actually gotten so far since it has so far made me happy, is the Penny Club, with a sampling of roast beef, turkey, and ham. It's like the comfort food of the sub/sandwich world. I also like that you can get a 4", 8", or 12" sub...a couple times I have gotten the little baby 4" sub (for ~$3.00), which is sometimes all you need. The Mr. Goodcents chain is a little new to me, but I think it's edging out Subway in my heart with it's hokey (and somewhat creepy) little Mr. Goodcents cartoon character and tasty meats. read more

Best sandwich in town. Bread is super fresh...they bake fresh twice a day and it tastes like it. They also slice the meat and cheese right in front of you when you order. I don't know anywhere else that does that around here. Selection could be bigger, but what they have is the best. read more
