Well, I know I had my privacy sign up until 10:30 am. Removed it as I had meeting at the Oasis Bar and grill and thought I would have time to stop at Safeway along the way. What was a disappointment no one came in and performed the usual tasks you would expect. I arrived back that evening around ten and it was as I left it. Lastly, coffee could be better made and few choices for breakfast. No eggs, what?? Other than those items mentioned. The room was comfortable, however having the ice machine close by, did not aid in sleeping in, or falling asleep early. Ice machine needs to be isolated better. read more

This hotel was perfect for the one night we needed. We arrived early in the day and parked (glad we did because by the evening the parking lot was almost at capacity.) The front desk was friendly at check in. Our room was nothing special- think of this as a motel. There was a slight musty smell but not over powering. We did not eat the complimentary breakfast but it was available. The hotel is walking distance to downtown and the chico state campus. Would this hotel be my first choice in chico- no. But for a downtown motel it is exactly what I expected. read more

We stayed in Room 112 5/3/2024 - 5/5/2024 - $132.28/night. We were originally scheduled to check in on Thursday 5/2, but I got really sick, so we had to postpone the trip by a day. My Mom called on the 2nd and let the property know we'd be a day late, but still wanted the reservation and would pay for the unused night. Her request was confirmed. When she called the next day from the road and spoke to Poney, he informed her that our entire reservation was canceled because we hadn't checked in before 3AM on the 3rd. We were in town for a wedding, so obviously needed accommodations. Poney reinstated the reservation and moved us to a two-queen room, and didn't charge us for the unused night. This is a fantastic property! The room had a Keurig, microwave and refrigerator. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the shower was hot and drained well. I really liked the furniture. They have a nice breakfast - waffles, bagels, cereal, juice, coffee and yogurt - from 6AM-930AM. All the staff was so friendly and welcoming that we felt like guests and not just customers. I stayed at the Quality Inn near Chico State, in Chico, CA. I and my daughter arrived in Chico via Amtrak late at night . I had contacted the hotel in advance to make sure it was Ok to reserve a room for two nights when I was coming in actually at 2 AM on the next day, I was assured this was fine. Upon arrival at the hotel, after checking in, we discovered that the room had clearly not been cleaned. The linens on the bed had not been changed from the last guest. There wasan empty box of Kleenex in the room, and the bed sheets were absolutely covered with hair, which looked to be a mix of human and pet hair. My daughter is allergic so the unknown pet hair was a particular concern, but it was also incredibly gross. When I say the sheets had hair on them I mean TONS of hairs. It was repulsive. When we looked in the bathroom, the floor and walls were crawling with ants. Immediately upon arrival, we needed tissues and found the empty box. I immediately contacted the front desk via the room phone , and they sent someone up who brought me a new box of tissues, however once we saw all the hair on the bed and the ants, I tried calling again (hoping we could move rooms) and no one answered. We were not in a position to go to a new hotel that late at night and we had a work event the next day so we could not relocate in time (and even if we could, most places in the area were already booked as well) so we had no choice but to stay. In addition, the reservation was already paid for. The next morning , before leaving for the event, we tried to use the in room safe to secure valuables as we would be gone all day. It did not work. I called the front desk and talked to a worker who had no knowledge about this and did not know what to do but told me maybe it had a dead battery and they would send someone up. No one came. No one was at the desk when I stopped by before the 6 hour event we were heading to. During the time we were at the event, no one came to clean the room either. The night we arrived and the next day, I also tried contacting someone via the web and no one responded. I went to the website for Quality Hotels to lodge a complaint. The web would not accept my message and displayed this: "something went wrong. Please try again or call 1-888-770-6800 for support." This number had a huge hold time and I had to call a few times to get through, but I was finally able to talk to a human who told me they would write down all my concerns and have someone contact me. However, even days after check out we had not heard back from anyone. I called that number again and finally got to talk to someone who informed me that according to their files, my "case had been closed." This was news to me, as I had never heard back from to anyone to any of my messages or my call, and of course, this contributed to further frustration. I informed the agent on the phone that I had never heard from anyone. The agent then indicated that perhaps I could opt to receive "points" that could be used toward a one night hotel stay at one of their properties, but I declined this offer because at this point I was thoroughly disgusted at the entire experience and lack of any customer service at all. I was told they would sent this message to management to follow up. Again, no one contacted me. For clarification: This is a two star hotel. I was absolutely not expecting "the Ritz". I am not in a habit of complaining or trying to get refunds. This was an appalling lack of customer service and NOT what was expected when reserving a room, especially for 236 dollars. I WAS, simply, expecting a room that had been cleaned from the previous guest, was not crawling with bugs and with bed sheets absolutely covered in hair and debris, including pet hair, (pets aren't even allowed in the hotel, the info said) and that had a safe that wasn't broken and management that answered the phone or message, and followed up on customer service concerns.This was the singular worst stay I have ever had in any hotel. I do not recommend anyone stay here. read more

Stayed at this location for one night for grandchild's graduation. The regular room rate is approximately $112/night but during graduation they up it to $520/night. That being said you would think it is a nice place. Wrong! The carpets were so filthy that in just walking around the room for a couple of hours my socks were literally black, there were black ants crawling around the tap holder was falling the wall (you could see where they had tried to glue it on) there was no shower soap, the safe was not working, the coffee pot was broken, the permanent night was so bright we didn't sleep all night because it was flush to wall and couldn't cover it! We asked for a refund and the front desk person said they couldn't issue a refund at their location the owner had to, so we left messages and made repeated phone calls.This was not isolated to one room. We had 3 rooms rented and they all had ants, filthy floors/carpet, etc. After a week of phone calls, leaving messages, no return calls being ignored and no call backs I tracked down the owner Andy Patel. He was rude and said so what. I asked him what would be a resolution to the problem he said "nothing"...why didn't we go somewhere else that night...we tried to find another location and he knew it was grad weekend and there was nothing anywhere else. I told him we wanted a refund that we would pay the $112 regular rate but wanted the inflated price difference refunded. He laughed and said he didn't care and hung-up, We reserved these rooms in good faith and to be in such deplorable condition and the owner knew it was a total breach of contract. He also owns the Sunset Inn in Oroville, go online and read the reviews for that one! Same thing! Do not waste you money on his hotels. They are filthy. They are knowingly and blantly ripping off unsuspecting guests! read more

This place is actually nice considering its a motel. I was blown away by the gentleman who checked us in, Poney. He was one of the kindest and most helpful concierges I have ever met. Places like the Ritz-Carlton would be lucky to have someone with that level of customer service. Quality Inn was not cheap yet very affordable. On my road trip with my son I didn't want anything scummy or unsafe. When looking for low price that's usually what you get. But not here! My room was spotless and looked brand new! I believe they just remodeled. Very close to down town restaurants and farmers markets. Bidwell park was a very short drive. The front office clerk was so nice! Every encounter we had with her was wonderful. Highly recommended and would definitely stay here again! read more

Stayed 1 night here as I was seeing a show at Senator Theatre down the street. Great location in downtown Chico. Lots to do. The staff were very friendly. Poney and his wife. Found out they're from my neck and of the woods were very friendly. The room was great. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. We left some merch from the concert here though. I called to ask about it and was told to call back later after the rooms were cleaned. I would have loved if the front desk staff could have had housekeeping go in and pull what we had called about out of the room since it had only been 2 hours since we checked out and we checked out at 930am. Regardless, I called back and spoke with Poney who did what we could to locate our autographed merchandise from the concert. (Sentimental to us). He called us and told us he went searching but couldn't find it unfortunately. Not their fault but ours for not double checking. Would 10/10 stay here again though. Thanks Quality Inn! read more

We stayed here for a close by football game/birthday weekend. The room was very modern and clean. The beds were soft and comfy, but mattresses moved real easy...almost coming off bed frame. The front staff was very friendly. The shower in the bathroom did not have a plug, the attendant found us a new one and personally brought it to our room. The only issue we had was the second evening we stayed there. We were thinking of using the pool, but a large party took over the whole pool area with a bbq grill and beer. Children were running and playing football in the parking lot, and a group of you g adults (possibly college students) were hanging out in the parking lot leaning up against our car...I came out and moved car to new spot. We did enjoy our stay, but the events from that evening made our stay a little uncomfortable. read more

Looks a little old and a tad sad from the outside, but the room was clean and freshly redone. There had been a plumbing problem, so we had a hour or so to kill before we could check in. Quiet room (sort of) till our fire alarm went off at 4 AM. Lunch bags with Jimmie Dean Sandwich or egg burrito for breakfast that you could pick up and take to your room. I would have loved some fruit. Coffee in the room was ok, but I do not love powdered creamer! Where is my Starbucks? Great service and good central location. read more

All the rooms were booked and I was concerned we would get a bad room-but the remodeling of these rooms are just great. I am very picky about hotels-and often find inexpensive ones to be depressing but the rooms here are great: Light, clean, well decorated, quiet, comfy bed, and good shades. The layout of the rooms are really modern and nice. What a great surprise after a long drive....PS-the ice cream store across the street was fantastic. read more

I stayed here for a night, early this month-- December 2022. Room 223. I left back home the following morning which was about ~3 hours away. I realized when I parked at home that I left three shirts in the closet on hangers. I called the hotel 4 hours after I checked out, and gave them descriptions of the shirts, where they would be & how many. Jamie helped me, and "checked" the room. Nothing was there she said. I was assured that the housekeeper who cleaned the room would be questioned & I would be updated. I stayed for one night, and came back home with no shirts. I'm not mistaken on having the shirts somewhere at home, because that's what was hinted at by Terry. These were three shirts worth about $100. I was assured I'd be updated-- never was. (Now 4 days after my stay) I called and the "head housekeeper" questioned the housekeeper who cleaned my room... "Hangers were found but no shirts." "This seems to be a mystery here." Right. We went from nothing found to hangers with no shirts on them found. Bottom line my shirts were taken by housekeeping, probably for someone at home is my guess. If you leave something here and you drive off, don't expect to get it back. read more

The Thunderbird Lodge motel was a mainstay of Chico downtown and Quality Inn has done an excellent job of keeping with the original look of the motel-style era yet updating it with modern amenities. We booked 2 nights , king bed room. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous, the free breakfast was full of options including hot eggs, sausage and waffles. The room was sparking clean with coffee maker, refrigerator, tea, coffee and ice available. The decor is appealing. The bed was amazing! Slept well, very quiet location. Highly recommend for travelers, Chico State families or anyone needing a clean, conscientious place to stay while visiting Chico! Highly recommend. read more

Occasionally when visiting family in Chico, we will stay at this hotel because the prices are really low and rooms are decent. They have other amenities like free wifi, an outdoor swimming pool, free parking and complimentary breakfast. The breakfast is everything from waffles, fruit, bacon and sausage to bagels, yogurt and juice. Staying here had another perk as they are located next to Big Hot Crab, which was so great. We both loved going there for lunch while staying at this hotel. read more

I have stayed here many times over the years visiting family in the area. Last Thursday night, I stayed there and my reservation was for one night. I left early in the morning and when I checked my credit card statement they had overcharged me by $170 I checked my quality inn activity online and this hotel charged me for 2 nights when I only stayed 1! Now I have called twice (they said I extended my stay, which is factually untrue), and emailed the manager (no response). So I have to dispute it with my credit card as fraud. Don't stay here unless you want to be overcharged and defrauded!!! read more

I'm typically really picky about staying at motels but we wanted to get a place close to family for thanksgiving that was inexpensive since we would be in late and out early to head back home. When getting a motel that's typically what you pay for so don't assume you're getting a hotel. The room was clean (due to covid we wipe everything, but nothing picked up on our disinfectant wipes) Carpet was clean It did not smell like cigarettes The heater worked and did not have an odor There was no loud noise (it was thanksgiving) Bedding was fresh/clean and sheets were soft (not scratchy) - we brought our own pillows The bed was a little hard for my liking but again we were in and out. Secure safe, too. Towels were a bit on the small and thin side and some noise from adjacent rooms and street was really my only negative - this quiets down overnight. Oh, very important, it's across the street from Shubert's Ice Cream! There's a self-serve, free modified continental breakfast. Free WiFi. This is a great location if you want to be walking distance to everything downtown Chico. That would be me. After long days working at the Snow Goose Festival, I don't want to worry about driving. So nice to get out and walk. Blocks from some of the best dining. Across the street from Chico Natural Foods Coop. A few blocks from the farmers market. I have stayed here before. The absolute worst place to stay in Chico; mainly due to the service. Terrible parking. Rooms have outside entrances. I arrived for my second stay on Nov 6th. The doors to the lobby were locked at 8:40 pm. A posted sign said "I'm on the property. Call 530------@". I called and a gentleman answered, "You have the wrong number". Called again, someone picked up the phone and hung up on me. I could hear the office phone ringing, so I knew I was calling the right number. Customer Service called and eventually got someone to answer. I have now been waiting and on the phone for almost an hour waiting to cancel this reservation. I have never experienced this type of treatment from any hotel. I will never stay here again. And I wouldn't stay here if I were you. I thought it was a Bates Motel before; so tonight's experience seals the deal. read more

Used to work there. Place is a disgusting nightmare. One of the workers I trained with was using the same pillow cases from the pervious person cus they "looked clean still". Management sucks, cus there is none lol. The top decorative and the big main blanket, those aren't washed. Ever. Unless someone stains them. So the bed your currently sleeping on or thinking about sleeping on, don't. There's been a thousand heads in the same spot and who knows if your pillow cases are even clean or not. read more

Great location if visiting or have business at Chico State. Beware though the parking is TIGHT! The outside of the building looks a little ran down but the rooms look like they have been recently remodeled. The bed was super comfortable as were the pillows. Nice decor, TV was new, has fridge, microwave and coffee maker in room. Bathroom was NICE! Shower had a rain water head along with a normal one, so that was a nice surprise. They offered a free breakfast, but we didn't eat there only because we are just not big breakfast eaters. Staff was very friendly. I gave it 3 stars because they should give the outside a face lift to match the inside and because of the parking. I would stay here again. read more
