I travel often for work and usually stay at Marriott's but decided to give a new place a try. The pictures online and TripAdvisor reviews were good, so I felt confident in my selection. After the first night, I noticed there was dried blood on my bedding. I let the front desk know and they said they would get that handled. Upon returning, I noticed the sheets were clean but found several hairs in not only my new cleaned bed but the second bed which I hadn't even used yet. I feel like whoever makes the beds don't really check to make sure stuff is actually good. I understand housekeeping isn't an easy job, but cleanliness is very important when staying at a hotel. The gym also lacked upkeep and it's very compact so it feels like a sauna while you're working out. No fans, my friend and I decided to crack open one of the windows. The wipes also were unavailable and the treadmills both were covered in sweat. I asked the front desk and they had no supplies to provide and said they would have to notify housekeeping. Why don't they just have wipes or supplies on hand to handle something simple as this?? I feel like this place has potential due to its convenient location and a unique design. However you can tell the cleanliness is lacking and the showers also need to be updated. The tub in mine was pealing, there's no ventilation, and the shower curtain was a thin cloth material without a liner. I thought about switching hotels but since I'm here for work it's not as simple and decided to just stick it out. Price was right. Inly 2.5 miles from Downtown Chico. Lots of food places to grab a bite and some major stores. Upon check in you get free drink ticket at the bar but also can enjoy a snack of salad or soup. Plus free breakfast. On certain days they also have breakfast burritos to go for breakfast. They also have a small shop for essentials you may have forgotten or microwavable food if you wish. All rooms cone w microwave. Nice pool area w hot tub and sauna. Check in was easy. We used to stay here exclusively when we were in Chico. Unfortunately, they have a "later than usual" check-in time: 4:00 PM. In other hotels in the area, the check-in time is 3:00. Of course, you can pay $50.00 extra for an earlier check-in time, but why would I do that? I'm wondering if they pay a service employee an extra $50 to ensure that a room is ready earlier. read more

Stayed here for a work trip, was randomly upgraded to the presidential suite - so started off very positive. The room was very clean and spacious- lots of closet space. The bed was super comfy and the amenities were quality. The hotel was having a happy hour the night I stayed and the lady working the front desk for my check in was so nice and helpful, everytime I came in or left I was greeted which is more than most of these travel hotels. I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and accountability at this hotel. During my stay, I accidentally left behind a Dyson Airwrap (complete with the dryer wand and attachments, all packed neatly in its black storage case on the counter). I realized shortly after checking out and immediately called the hotel. I was told that housekeeping would be notified and that I'd receive a call back the next morning. No one ever followed up. I called multiple times and was eventually told the items had been found and that a link would be sent for me to have them mailed back. When the package arrived, the black case was tied in a trash bag, and inside I found only the attachments -- the most valuable part, the dryer wand (along with one attachment), was missing. What followed was a frustrating, unprofessional series of phone calls. Every time I called, I was promised someone would get back to me. At one point, I was told by an employee that the housekeeping manager, Maria, had personally packed and mailed the item herself and confirmed everything was there. When I asked how the main piece could be missing if she personally handled it, there was no explanation. I continued to follow up -- making at least 10 calls over a span of three weeks -- and was continually brushed off. When I finally did speak to a manager named Kenta, he repeated the same line: that Maria said all pieces were included. I asked again how this could be true when my dryer was clearly not returned. He said he'd look into it again and call me back -- that was the last I heard from him. Throughout this entire ordeal, I was met with broken promises, dismissive attitudes, and zero accountability. I even encountered a front desk agent who hung up on me after I asked when a manager would be available. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry, I find this level of service completely unacceptable. At the resort where I worked, guests were always called back promptly, and any lost item -- especially one of this value -- was handled with care and transparency. The Dyson dryer is worth over $350 and appears to have been blatantly stolen or mishandled. I intend to escalate this further through corporate channels, but I would strongly caution anyone against staying here. If you value your belongings and expect even basic follow-through from hotel staff, look elsewhere. read more

This hotel is set up for parents of students of Chico State--but the staff treats you like a 5 star joint. A lovelier group you couldn't meet. The pool & spa are perfect after a long Amtrak ride. The breakfast is a REAL breakfast--no microwave danish here. They serve fluffy scrambled eggs, waffles--just delicious. I don't go to Chico much, but if I do this is the spot. The staff is so nice and the rooms are clean. My husband is staying at this location for weeks at a time with his job, and the maids are always on top of cleaning the room and not moving his stuff around. Also they were very accommodating with our dogs!!! And had nice grassy areas for them to play and go to the bathroom. read more

The room was pretty nice and so was the breakfast although I found what appeared to be black mold on the top of the bathroom door, and the HVAC unit kept clicking, popping, and crackling. My husband and daughter and I stayed here for two nights. It was very clean and the king bed was comfortable. Our daughter didn't complain about the pullout couch. I really appreciate their friendly pet policy. Both our cats enjoyed the stay too. The hot buffet breakfast was included and much better than the typical cold breakfast at other places. There was a wide selection of food and it varied slightly both days. Parking was free and not a problem. There was a fitness room and a pool but we were too busy to use them. Additionally, there was no phone in my room to request cleaning services or a wake-up call. Enjoyable stay @ Oxford Suites in Chico, CA. We had the pleasure of staying here over the weekend and were pleased with a comfy bed and high end decor in our King suite on the 4th floor. It had everything we needed, including a great shower and appealing lemongrass sage toiletries. I'm so glad we reserved a quiet room on the highest floor because there were many families staying here who also enjoyed great amenities this place has to offer, such as the hot breakfast and pool. So yeah, this hotel has the capability of serving many patrons and boasts 184 suites. The only draw back to a larger hotel are the other people you have to deal with, but we by no means have any specific complaints, per se, just a little longer wait time for the elevator and breakfast on the first day. The breakfast was okay, as some other reviews have stated. It did offer pancakes, potatoes, ham, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, and oatmeal, along with numerous bread options. The hot breakfast items were pretty cold by the time we grabbed a table, and it was at max capacity and rather loud, so we opted to go out to breakfast the second day. The location of this hotel could not have been better, surrounded by numerous restaurants and shopping centers. I wouldn't necessarily stay here again, but we had a pleasant stay overall. read more

This was our second time staying at Oxford Suites Chico. We chose it again because we loved our first stay so much. The rooms are quiet (seriously, didn't hear our neighbors and the hotel was packed because of grad weekend) clean and comfy (we sleep so well!) The amenities feel higher end and the breakfast is always filling and such a variety. We worked out, sat by the pool and my husband used the Finish style sauna. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We love that it is in walking distance to so much including In n Out across the street and Daycamp Coffee about a mile away. It's one of our favorite places to stay and we will always choose Oxford when in Chico! read more

Had a really nice stay here at Oxford Suites when I was here for training. Overall the clientele is heavily tradesmen (tons of work trucks in the parking lot), and people who are in town for work or passing through. Few families. I think they went through a huge renovation recently, as I think they were affected by the Paradise Fires and lots of emergency housing changed the area quite a bit. Everything looked pretty clean and the rooms were modern enough to be comfortable and enjoyable. Free cookies on arrival. Welcome drinks Tu-Sa. Parking is ample. Staff is super courteous and accommodating. Breakfast is actually slightly better than I would normally expect for hotel continental breakfast. Rooms are spacious enough and the beds are comfy. In N Out right down the street. Didn't see a lot of families staying here, but no reason not to. I would come by here again if I were working in Chico, no hesitation. Great hotel with updated decor and wonderful friendly staff. After a long day of driving, we checked in and were greeted by CJ at the front desk who was friendly and upbeat. The hotel has breakfast (variety of options), complimentary adult drinks in the evening (beer/wine), a small gym and pool area. We loved the room decor but wished our room was slightly larger (it was tight for our family of 4). Would definitely stay here again and look at one of their larger suites. They have a pool and gym you can reserve to use. Note that the gym equipment is slightly is limited (eg and an outdated elliptical) but that's first world problems right? It definitely gets the job done. They have cool little perks that would bring me back, besides the cleanliness and good hospitality/customer service: the breakfast is made to order (comes with the room), and each guest gets 2 free drink vouchers upon check in for beer/wine by the pool. Heads up that the walls are pretty thin so we heard the people above us stepping and pretty sure heard them arguing too. Didn't interfere with our sleep thankfully. Worst stay ever, I was expecting it to be nice based on reviews... First of all, there were long black hairs in the shower. Hairs in the bed too. I wanted to get over it and forgive the ick, things happen. Breakfast is pretty bleak. I was expecting better for the price. Pool is teeny tiny. The only reason I give them a poor review is because they texted me (AI?) to rate them. I gave a generous 7. Then they asked what they could do to make it right. I suggested a meal at the restaurant and was met with the restaurants hours. Why even adk, if you dont give a shit about making it right? The esthetic of the rooms are updated and look cool and inviting. But that's it. Our stay was a 7 out of 10. The breakfast they provided was ok. And just ok, is not okay. The potatoes seemed old and like they had been under a heat lamp cooking for hours. Eggs were better than I expected, not like the usual microwaved, lack of quality eggs it actually tastes like they made the eggs there themselves. The breakfast was a 6 out of 10. Now onto the room. We were placed in a room closest to the exit door and it was loud. We had a pet so we had to be placed on the 1st floor. It cost an extra $78 dollars to have her stay with us (just so u know). On the second night the house keepers thought it was a good idea to vacuum at 5:30am. SO NOT COOL! In addition, our bed was curved in, in the middle so the mattress is to be desired. It sucked! Great Time at Oxford Suites. Staff was really friendly. At Check In, confirmed if we wanted full housekeeping, something that most hotels we've been staying in don't even mention anymore. They came through and cleaned up every day we were there. Rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast was good, staff was very welcoming there too, even helped me out when I showed up at the end of breakfast, very hospitable! Gym was clean and has excellent equipment, a bit small but I don't imagine it ever being packed. We where very Impressed with Taylor as she quickly Got Us checked in , and then give us our coupons for drinks at the bar Told us about the free breakfast in the morning . Taylor also told us about the free Shuttle bus That takes you to the Sierra brewery. The rooms here are very comfortable with a large TV and refrigerator, microwave and Kereg coffee in the morning. One of the best hotel experiences of my life! Walked in and they offered us a free pint of beer (choice of two Sierra Nevada beers on tap!), or glass of wine. The front desk staff were superb - chill & professional, efficient & thorough, and all around hella kind and got us totally amped about our stay. Love the modern homey vibe that makes this hotel feel just a smidgen unique compared a generic mega-chain hotel. The bed was comfy, I totally fell in love with the couch in our room, and our room was equipped with everything we could possibly need: complimentary shampoo, soaps, lots of towels & pillows, mini coffee maker with everything to make coffees and teas, mini fridge, microwave, tv, desk, bench, lots of options for lighting and charging devices... the complimentary breakfast was pretty standard hotel fare that definitely hit the spot. This review is long overdue. My in-laws live in Chico so I come here every month and when in need of a hotel, I stay here. I'd like to thank CJ for his excellent customer service. Months ago, I came in one night alone and with my pup, crying and just looking like a complete mess- he checked me in and was very nice and caring. He's checked me in before but I can't thank him enough for this night. He made sure I was okay and even gave us some pet supplies. Max and I thank you. I stayed again just last night and the service from all the employees were great. The rooms are comfortable and although I have never eaten the breakfast, it's always full of guests.
