Horrible, Nightmare!! Beware, this guy is a theif, con artist, butcher. First of all his secretary are very rude, and uncourteous. The lady who books the appointments is like a time Nazi, my god people do understand that they have an appointment, but she freaks out if your a minute late, she is very pushy, harasses you on the phone to your whereabouts with attitude, and doesn't great you well or kindly once arriving at the office. Right off the bat you know that this dentist is money hungry, and treats his patients like dollar signs, the faster he can push you in and out the more money he thinks is a chair away next to him. Second, I had a simple procedure to fill a tooth, he injected me with Novocaine obviously but he went overboard, so to make sure you have no clue as to what he does in your mouth. He was rushing the whole procedure, he managed to slip with his dental instruments in my mouth and cut my gums badly causing bleeding in excess. Also his dental assistant is a student who has no clue as to even suction properly. While filling the tooth Dr.Oliva dropped his dental filing instrument managing to loose the part attached to it, he was in panic to find the tool on the floor that he was ignorant and started lifting the chair i was in to find it. The bit he lost was more important because of its expensive cost that he didn't care about anything else. Sensing that he was rushing and already cut my gums, and lost a dental bit instrument on the floor I knew that this Doctor was a circus clown. While applying the filing, the dental assistant was curing the place on the tooth, she also managed to push the filling deeper than intended. I had no idea because of the numbness until after a few hours of the procedure. Which ended up damaging the nerve, causing pain and sensitivity. Later that evening the pain was unbearable, and I had contacted his office which was already closed. Left several messages, and contact him on his emergency number but Never received a call back from anyone, even the next day. The bill for the filling was $1600 which was outrageous, nothing but a crook. The next morning I rushed to his office in agony, upon arriving again was treated like shit by his staff in the front office on 6th floor. Was told to wait a hour and a half until he could see me, WHAT I'M IN PAIN, left messages all night and they have the nerve to tell me to wait. He finally, saw me. He wasn't sincere or apologetic in anyway. Started to lie and saying I had to floss, and sorts of B.S. stories to avoid taking responsibility for his actions. He removed the filling, and tells me I need a root canal. What the hell I never had any problems with this tooth, other than a minor tiny crack that needed to be refilled. He damaged my tooth, causing severe damage to the root. I told him not to touch my mouth, and temporarily fill the tooth again. I left furious, and threatened to sue him for malpractice. I went to another dentist that I used in the past to correct Dr. Oliva's mistake, and saved my tooth from devastational damage. I sued Dr. Oliva for damages, he was being a wise ass, but he ended up paying me back for all damages and legal fees. Please from my experience, don't let this clown, touch your mouth, stay far far far away run from him. Forget his spa like atmosphere, that others have reviewed him about, remember you going to a dentist not a spa, and your mouth is your lively hood. I referred 'Sonny Torres Oliva DDS' from the dentist friend of mine. The Hygienist Tiffany was very tentative. As she lead me to the cozy massage bed she said 'it is little different.' I was anxious as it might get painful after the cleaning. I had two bad whitening experieces previously in London and in Seoul. She X-rayed each number of my teeth which haven't done it recently. She explained each procedure why I have to do this for what. so I was fully aware what was going on. Cleaning was very gentle and comfortable, absolute no pain. The results was spectacular, very white, very clean inside and outside. I was little down when I paid a visit to dentist but after cleaning up the dirt on my tooth I was so refreshed and gain my happiness again. Tiffany showed me inside with the mirror how the work done then taught me to brush my tongue all the way to the throat. Price-wise, it is not cheap but it is not expensive considering what you get. I have paid from $200-$1000 for cleaning my teeth several times but this bring me so much satisfaction. So I highly recommand. After the X-ray and the cleaning, Dr. Oliva greeted me with Korean and led me to the dental chair. He closely looked all the verneers I had and explained 'done very nicely but text book style' and add one more if I consider esthetic smile then my smile should not be stopping in the middle of it. He was very determined to change and showed me the full vision after the work done. He recommended me to put the implant also to make it look perfect but I insisted I'd like to keep my original tooth and agreed to change the top of my verneers. He took the picture of me every possible way, and did dental impression relentlessly. Dr. Kwazniak was really detailed and professional when she took off old verneers and through the operations. She was very patient for concentrating many hours of operation, explained what was going on and she was specially good when injecting anesthesia. Absolutely everyone in this clinic is so happy and smilely everytime I visit. Dr. Oliva was very honest man, very caring, right to the point when we doing the work done. After the hours and hours of drilling Dr. Oliva and Dr. Kwazniak would still smile and care for the patient. I thought it could take for ages to replace everything. But only after two visits I have my brand new bright teeth. Everyone did very intensive work to keep up with my tight schedule. I am so impressed and satisfied with work. Dr. Oliva made me a more genuine looked teeth which the God failed. I used to show my gums too much when I smile because my old verneer was too thick. Now, it is absolutely natural and bright. While I never hated going to the dentist, it was certainly never something I looked forward to and I was always skeptical of all those people who said that they loved going to the dentist...I mean after all, who likes getting poked and prodded with sharp instruments!? After my first visit with Sonny, which he prefers over Dr. Olivia btw, i think I have to admit that I might actually enjoy going to the dentist now and I kind wish my next appointment wasn't 6 months away. It all starts the moment you enter the office, from the relaxing and peaceful atmosphere to the super friendly and welcoming staff, to the dimmed lights and lavender eye mask to the most thorough and comfortable cleaning that I've ever experienced (shout out to Tiffany, who is super knowledgeable and does everything she can to explain what she's doing and to make sure you are comfortable)...I could go on and on. But let me leave you with this: complementary foot and hand massage while you are getting your cleaning!?!?...yes please It truly is a spa like experience and it makes you wonder why every dentist experience isn't like this. I've been a patient of Dr. Torres' for several years and I've never had anything less than a great experience. I just came back from a teeth cleaning that confirmed again that this office has the nicest staff of any medical office I've ever been to in NYC. Everything runs smoothly-- with nice touches like emailing you a calendar appointment for your next visit and then sending you text reminders a few days beforehand that I wish every doctor and dentist would adpot. And of course you can't beat the "zen" experience of laying flat and listening to "spa like" music while wearing an eye mask during your weirdly relaxing teeth cleaning. They also accept my (standard, MetLife) dental coverage which 100% covers the cost of the cleanings. I heard about Dr. Torres through a referral and now I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Torres and his staff to my friends and colleagues all the time. I will add that I also received the optional reflexology massage during my appointment a few times (OK, that part isn't covered by my insurance) and it wasn't for me. I needed an emergency appointment. Called in the middle of the morning and was received by noon. Fantastic work by him and by all the staff involved. He is the best dentist that I know. His staff is the kindest and most efficient that is possible. The preparation for my treatment was quick and high professional. Problem solved fast and correctly. This was my first appointment but all my family have been attended by him on dentistry matters and I knew his work. His office is fantastic. Pure 21st century. Clean, bright, with relaxing music and video, ultra-modern, with all the last word in equipment. Doesn't feel like a dentist visit, more like a club visit. And the best of all, his work is not expensive. You get exactly what you need, without unnecessary and expensive treatments.
