We had a great experience with a cooktop repair. They came recommended by another vendor who couldn't service us very quickly. Came prepared with the needed parts based on our phone conversation. Stood by his work - during the installation the new part was accidentally damaged; despite still being functional Channing owned the mistake and ordered another new replacement and came back out a second time to replace it for no extra charge. Other contractors may have left the damaged part in since it still worked. Stayed in touch regularly during the process with updates on when parts would be available, and when he could come out to do the repair. Charged exactly what was quoted initially over the phone. Channing answers fast, is reliable, an obvious expert and likes dogs. That's all you need to know. But if you'd like more detail: We came home Sunday to a moaning dishwasher full of dirty water. We emptied it, sucked the water out of it and spent an hour on Youtube DIY videos before giving up. We called Channing on Monday morning. He was headed to an appointment but answered and arranged a time to meet. We confirmed him via text and sent him the model number of our dishwasher. He arrived the next day with the part he thought we might need. We didn't need it and he didn't charge us for it, which was great. Instead he dug a small piece of a broken wine glass out of our pump, tested it repeatedly and declared it once again healthy. It was the easiest appliance repair experience of my life. read more

Called because my dryer was not working well: door kept popping open and dry times were abnormally long. After telling them my situation they recommended I call a different company to check vent blockage and they told me how to run a "test" to see if the vent was blocked. Turned out the test proved that my vent is blocked and that the pressure building up in the dryer forced the dryer door open. So, I did not actually need their services because they helped me diagnosis my problem over the phone free of charge. They genuinely wanted to help me and they directed me to the service that would fix the problem even if that meant it wasn't them. That is service folks. Yeah, wow and awesome! I had had a ripped seal on my front load washer for, well, let's just say for a while. Putting towels in front of it to catch the overflow was getting old. I was walking to lunch and i noticed a van on blake st, parked at a meter, with Goodmans logo for appliance repair. I noticed he was in the van and the window was open, so i popped on over and asked if he fixed washing machines? To which he said yes, and asked where it was located. I got his card, text-ed him the specs on my machine (a photo of said info!) and he text-ed back with an estimate! What amazingly easy service! We found a time that worked for both of us, he arrived as a fully contained appliance fixing machine! He has a special backpack with all his tools, even a head lamp!!! After moving across the country and having our moving company delay our delivery by a week we were really bummed out to figure out that in addition to being late, the moving company had also broken our front loading washing machine. Channing was quick to return our call and was able to come out on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend to at least diagnose any issues and see if the washer could be repaired. He showed up right at the end of the two hour window, but had called to let us know he was running behind. When he got here he took his time to explain all that could/did go wrong when the machine was moved but did a thorough job of diagnosing what needed to be repaired and saved us from having to shop for a new unit. When he returned a few days later with parts he was super polite and efficient. Within an hour he had completed the repairs and was even willing to talk me through the process as he did it, which really cemented his level of competence to me. I would highly, highly recommend Channing for all appliance repairs - it was very refreshing to have someone so friendly and capable handle the repair of our washer so that we lower the stress of settling into a new place after moving 2500 miles. read more

We called to have our dishwasher repaired because it wasn't draining. It was a quick fix, and was going to be $35 (plus the $75 diagnostic fee). I was pleased it was inexpensive and had a working dishwasher. Then on the way out, Bill accidentally dropped his shop vac in my entryway. It was a lot of water, and luckily I hadn't washed the floors yet. ;) it was an accident, and accidents happen. No permanent damage was done. Bill cleaned up the mess and then ended up not charging me at all for the service. I though this was very classy, and I will definitely call on them again! read more

My LG refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser stopped working. My search for a dependable appliance service provider on Yelp came up with Goodmans Appliance Repair. I called and made an appointment a few days in the future. The receptionist was polite, helpful and efficient. The technician, Bill, arrived on time, was polite and knowledgeable. He got right to work, opened up the ice maker and water dispenser door to look at the inner parts. He thought everything looked good. He looked again at the front control panel where the various buttons for changing the ice type, the refrigerator and freezer temperatures, the filter alarm indicators and the door locks. He noticed one of the door control locks was in the locked position and unlocked it. He then turned on the ice maker and checked the water dispenser. It was working again. He said I would have to wait and see if the ice maker worked, which might take several hours. I checked it the next morning and it was working fine again. I was impressed with Bill's ability to quickly find the problem and explain how the controls work, so this won't happen again. I would highly recommend Bill and Goodmans Appliance Repair to my neighbors and call them again when I need an appliance repaired. read more

Called Channing in the morning as my washer wasn't draining. He returned my call and was able to schedule one of his subcontractors to come to my house in a few hours. The sub showed up on-time (actually, at the front of the 2 hour window!), told me what the problem could be (clogged drain or motor), and the cost. Fortunately it was merely the drain, he cleaned it, showed me what to do (it's not too tough), and that was that. Professional job, might be at the top end of the price spectrum but again, when it's done right and fast I can't complain. read more

Not only did he call to say he was on his way, he immediately removed his shoes upon entering my home -- both of which were much appreciated. This company, contracted thru LG, sent a technician to my house unannounced. He looked at my refrigerator and verbally confirmed the error I reported. He said he would order the part and then all of a sudden, when it came time to send me a confirmation text, his phone mysteriously stopped working! He then tried to get out of my house as fast as possible. I waited almost 2 weeks with no communication from Goodman (with a malfunctioning frig) before I called LG again. They told me that the technician had straight out lied in his report and said there was no issue with my appliance. read more

This company really should get zero stars. I called on Monday the 17th for service. I was told I had to wait a week for someone to come. They showed up on the 24th. I was told there were 2 things wrong with my fridge and dispite them being common issues the tech would need to come back Friday to fix them. No one showed up on Friday. On Monday I called asking why no one had come. They told me now Thursday was the soonest. I spoke with a supervisor and was promised a Wednesday fix date and promised the tech would have the parts. Well guess what Wednesday comes and no one shows. They tell me someone will be out Friday. Thursday night I get a phone call saying no one can come till the 9th. I called this morning asking why and I was told that the tech for my area is allergic to animals and I need to find another company. What a joke if the tech was allergic why did he say he would be back on Friday. Why did I get the run around for 3 weeks. Why is someone allergic to pets working in a industry where they have to go in peoples homes. Why do they only have 1 tech. Steer clear from this company if you ever want your stuff fixed. read more

This company was referred to my through Best Buy whom I have a service warranty with. The first two appointments I made the driver failed to show and they can not offer a time but you have to sit and wait from 8am to 5pm hoping someone will show. The third time the repairman text me at 2:30 telling me he would be there in 20-30 min and showed up 1 hour and 45 min later. He said he had to order parts and would let me know. Well that was 3 weeks ago and I called the company who said the parts were ordered but never picked up by the repairman. The woman got short with me when I asked about a potential time frame a week a month whatever. This company is terrible! Unorganized and poor customer service! read more

Brian from Goodmans appliance came to fix two of our appliances that went out last Christmas. One was the dishwasher. He replaced the element but took out the padding that was under the dishwasher which is labeled do not remove. He did not replace the trim along the floor so that has weakened the adjacent cabinet. He did repair the refrigerator but the icemaker broke during the process (not his fault). He said he or a new icemaker but never came to put it in. I realize these things happen but I have called Goodmans appliance several times in hopes of having everything remedied. They have not come out to do so and since neither job was really completed I can't give them any more than one star. read more

Well, I said I would post an update to my review from Wednesday August 19, 2020. Was scheduled today for service on my LG refrigerator (they did not show up Wednesday or even call to say they weren't coming) I took a second day off work to wait and was told I was number 5 on the schedule for today. It is now 3:15 pm and I just received a call from "dispatch" stating the technician would not be coming today. A second day off of work....waiting for hours and no one shows up. Unbelievable that a company can actually run with this type of incompetence. Supposedly dispatch contacted the technicians supervisor and they will call me back today. I don't believe it. I wasn't going to post a review but my experience was so bizarre I just have to. All the reviews for this company are 4 or 5 stars, and prior to a couple days ago, based on my last experience, I would have given a 5...until this happened: I set an appointment for Channing to come look at my dead refrigerator. The window was 2-4pm. I left a busy, important day at 1:30 to be home by 2. At 2:40, I called him to find out when he planned to arrive, as I hadn't heard anything. He said he was running behind, but he had one quick stop and he'd be on his way. Well...at 3:58 he called to let me know he was on his way, and it was around 5 before he showed up. If you're thinking that this is my complaint, it's not. Yes, he was obviously behind and should have called me much earlier, giving me a heads up, but everyone has an off schedule day every once in while. The reason for this rating and post is for the aforementioned bizarre interaction, which went something like this... He walked in, asked what the problem was, pulled out his phone, called someone else asking for an idea as to the solution, then hung up and gave me the scoop. It seems it was probably any number of 2 or 3 parts that were bad. He looked up the parts on his iPad mini and happily informed me that all those parts were pretty cheap. Yippee. Now the bizarre. Mr. Goodman then stopped cold, informed me that the standard rates for repair: $75 to diagnose, then $90 something per hour to do the repair, plus parts. I said cool - that $75 is included in that $90 something, right? No. Now at this moment he had been in my house for, oh maybe 15 minutes (of which 10 were phone, iPad and shootin the breeze time). I probably was visibly surprised. I said (very calmly and politely btw), since he was so late and didn't call me, how 'bout nixing the $75 and just charge me the repair rate and parts. You would have thought I asked him to do all the work for free. Right after the request came out of my mouth, he looks at me, as he's putting his things away, and says "I work hard and am very good at what I do, and what you need to do right now is find someone else to do this work. I don't negotiate and I'm offended that you would attempt to negotiate my rates down." I said I was just askin. He could have said no, and I would have said okay. I wouldn't have been happy about it, but I had a broken fridge. I said okay, go ahead and order the parts. He then said no. He reminded me that he didn't negotiate, and that I need to have someone else do the work, and out the door he went. Poof. If you call this gentleman to your house to fix an appliance, for goodness sake, do not ask him to alter anything regarding the pricing. Just take what he quotes you, open your wallet and pay the man - or he'll quietly storm out of your house and you'll be left with a broken appliance. Bizarre. read more

This has been nothing but a terrible experience with this company. I called for an appointment and they confirmed someone would be here on Thursday August 25th, at 9am and there would be a 2 hour window of arrival. I was also told that I would get a call 30 minutes prior to their arrival. after 5 hours of waiting I have still not heard from nor seen anyone from this company. When you call their business number you are told that they are only their anwering service and they have no clue what is going on. This is so far not a reputable nor responsive company to work with at all. I hope to hear back from anyone that is in charge or the business owner to explain how they lose track of all of their techs and are not responsive at all after causing the customer to take off of work and wait around all day for them. Fast forward just over a year from the last time I called Channing for help with my old washer and dryer. I have a new set of front-loaders that seem to be vibrating a bit too much. Channing explained that if they're not broken, there's basically not much I can do and walked me through some steps to explore (pads) and how to easily move the machines. No setting up an appointment just to score a few bucks on a service call. This is straight up, honest, good business.
