I really like this vet, and have been going to it for about a year now. I had brought my new kitten at the beginning of the year for vaccines and whatnot. He is an extremely shy cat who curls up into himself out of fear. The vet and vet techs are always super gentle with him because of how fearful he is. I had him neutered at this location without issue, and the price was reasonable. I have also taken him in for anal gland expression and it was a quick tech visit, so only $32. They were able to get me in on a weekend. One thing I like in particular is that they have their own parking lot. It is small but most places around that location you have to find street parking. This clinic is also responsive via email, and has helped me order flea meds through Chewy. I will continue to bring my cat here and also consider having his teeth cleaned next year, because their prices are fair and their staff is friendly. read more

I've been bringing my pets here for years probably at least 10 at this point and have continued making the 45-minute drive because I trusted them. I understand that prices have gone up everywhere over the past few years, but the increases here feel significant. I recently found a 2021 receipt showing the exam fee was $65 and it's now $88. Nail trims are now an additional $19, which used to be included at some point, and my recent visit for an exam and routine vaccines totaled $300. Unfortunately, it's just no longer affordable for us, so we'll be looking elsewhere. read more

Dr. Cohen is a very good veterinarian. I live far in the suburbs, so I always took my dog Beatriz to another vet that was local to me. But when Beatriz needed a surgery, after a big $$$ estimate from our local vet, someone recommended WPV. I took Beatriz there. Dr. Cohen did her surgery very well, and he charged me much less then the local vet estimated. After his surgery, Beatriz had five more years with us. read more

I have been going to wicker park vet since 2019 and took my 3 animals there and just recently made the switch to a new vet. The tipping point for me was when my oldest pup had a mass on his chest, they did a biopsy, and never called me w the results. This is new territory for me so I called about 2 months later- and the receptionist told me she had the results yet couldn't tell me what it was until Monday when the dr came in. So naturally- I started freaking out. They then claimed they dr stated in the notes they left me a VM 4 days after my appt 2 months prior that they said for my to call back for the results- however I replayed the vm and the vm was completely different- only about something completely different my dog was experiencing and said if he was getting worst to call back. It said nothing about calling back for the biopsy results. On top of that- when we went in today for a nail trim, they were Blatantly talking negatively about customers at the front desk. read more

They took my cat back for x rays and he was screaming and they brought him back acting like they did nothing wrong. He then developed a bump on his ear and they denied any culpability. My poor little baby, love of my life, child not born from my womb, had carcinoma cancer. I brought my my cat Lumpy to Wicker Park Vet Clinic after a few places couldn't figure out what was wrong with him as his blood work kept coming back clean. Both Dr. Oh and Dr. Cohen were fantastic, giving me great advice and keeping things realistic. Dr. Oh was my main vet throughout testing and he was determined to get to the bottom of what was ailing Lumpy. Though it wasn't the prognosis I hoped for, I was thankful to finally have some answers. I realize rates will vary but just to give a bit of information on what I paid... Blood work $165 Cytology to biopsy a lump $125 Fluids range depending on the amount needed but this was $10 for me Exam itself $55 X-Rays $188 I had to put him asleep last night just a week short of him turning 14 and used an at home euthanasia service instead of stressing him out & taking him back to the vet. I'm very thankful for Wicker Park Vet Clinic though and their very compassionate, friendly & well informed staff from the vets to the front desk. I have another cat Teenie who I will continue bringing to Dr. Oh as I was truly more pleased with him than I ever have been with any vet I've visited. read more

Ugh, it pains me to write this, but WPV is NOT what it used to be. The actual vets are pretty good. We see Singleton most of the time and I feel that she's pretty good. But it's all the ancillary staff that are atrocious! It's been a steady slide in the downward direction over the course of the last 1.5 years. The staff are rude, lazy, and not really there for the customers. Order meds online, they never have them actually ready when they say they are. What's the point of me placing the order ahead of time and you sending me an email to say they ready and when I arrive...I have to wait 7-10 minutes for them to get them ready?! They currently refuse to cut our elderly cats pills in 1/4ths even though they've been doing it for the last 3 years. The pills are not scored and they recommended I buy a pill cutter. When I asked why, the front desk girl told me because it was taking them too long. When you call, they are short and sound angry. Now, not all of them are this way, but I would say, it's the majority, which just makes it unpleasant to have to deal with them. Several examples over the last 2 years and don't want to belabor how awful it's become (trying not to be a Karen). If our cat wasn't 19 years, I'd definitely change vets. I can say, once our elderly queen crosses the rainbow bridge, we will be seeking out a new vet! Unfortunately the service at this vet is definitely not even close to what it used to be. read more

Around 7 years ago one of my male cats was having trouble urinating, I did a quick search for vets in my area and found WPVC. Dr. Cohen was extremely straightforward, gave optional paths for care, and was very loving to Bo. A few years passed and my older male cat Chase started losing weight and having all the signs for diabetes. Dr. Mullin was assigned to Chase and we are truly blessed to have her. I have seen this doctor literally run to me and grab Chase while he is having a hypoglycemia episode. Dr. Mullin has spent her time researching and contacting specialist just to better assist Chase. Her calming voice, and professional demeanor is above par. She is a superhero. The staff who sit behind the desk are fantastic, they're extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I can be hard to please and I am overprotective of my cats. I can say with my heart of hearts I have had zero issues at Wicker Park Vet Clinic. Chase met the end of the road and we arranged to bring him in to see Doctor Mullin for his final visit. The staff all came in to give us their condolences and tell us how much they will miss Chase visiting. It was a very sad evening, we are so thankful to have this clinic to depend on. We feel so lucky to have found Wicker Park Vet. During a pandemic where everyone is getting a new pet, finding a fantastic vet isn't easy. As soon as they accepted new patients, we had to jump in on the opportunity. We've been taking our now one year old puppy Birdie here since she was 2 months old. She came for her last sets of vaccinations as a puppy and most recently got spayed and microchipped here. All experiences have been more than amazing by Dr. Darcy, the techs, and front office staff. When Birdie was a puppy, the front office staff member Michael kindly addressed my concerns about her stool and helped me find a solution over the phone (it was life changing for our sleep schedule because it immediately helped her). It also saved us a visit which makes me feel like this place isn't just here to suck every penny out of you. It's like they actually care about their patients. When Birdie had an ear infection, my boyfriend took her and was allowed to go inside. He came home and raved about how absolutely incredible everyone was to her and how comfortable Birdie felt around them all. Most recently she got spayed and the recovery that was supposed to last 10 days had Birdie feeling great by day two. Dr. Darcy did the most phenomenal job on her incision and explaining the recovery process to us. We took it really seriously and 14 days later, you'd never know she had a surgery there. And I should add that Birdie only had one day of pain! It was so much easier than we were anticipating. I can't rave about them enough - I even referred them to my neighbor and she was able to get her pup in. Let me know if you need an official recruiter, haha jk! But seriously. Dr. Mullin is now our go to vet for the puppers. During the first visit for our older pup, he seems to be much more comfortable around Dr. Mullin than past vets and doesn't get quite as nervous. We also appreciate how responsive Dr. Mullin's been whether it's via phone or email. She's been great when it comes to any questions big or small we might have regarding the pups. The staff at the front desk is good but not always on the same page as the doctors. Only thing I'd suggest is checking your bill as we had a discrepancy in amount charged for surgery and what was agreed upon. Luckily they took care of it after a bit of back and forth. Other than that don't really have anything negative to say about this one. It was pouring rain and my dog was having more trouble walking than usual. I called and told them the situation and that we'd be there in about 8 minutes. She said "that would put you here at 3:48 so we're going to have to reschedule. And, unfortunately, we're also going to have to charge you for the missed appointment and take another deposit for your new one." I gave my cat too much CBD cat treats pre-groomer appointment, he seemed normal after the appointment, however the following morning he was wobbling back and forth while sitting. I called the Wicker Park Vet Clinic immediately and the person I spoke to on the phone went the extra mile to ask the veterinarians if I should be concerned and get advice on my next moves. They told me it takes about 24hrs for the symptoms he was experiencing to subside. They even gave me emergent signs and symptoms to look out for and names of Emergency Vets I could seek help at. I really appreciated this voluntary step this person on the phone took. It showed empathy and compassion for the situation and as a healthcare worker I deeply appreciated that. read more

They both have provided excellent care especially after my dog Ellie was diagnosed as diabetic. I have found the veterinary techs and front desk staff to be very cordial and helpful. The one star constitutes a dramatic downgrade from a prior review a couple of years ago. WPV is no longer the clinic it had been. It has changed dramatically for the worse. Front office staff is not in question. When a vet assistant insults a client claiming their 13 year old golden is "unfriendly" and the responsible vet both berates a complaint and gets snippy because a sincere and responsible client had the gumption to take the effort to call and complain enough is enough. The worst possible way to deal with a customer. Arrogance on steroids. Completely mishandled. Further, WPV refused to do both shots and an examination in one visit; expecting a customer to come back three times instead. Funny, our new professional vet easily handled all necessary in one convenient visit without any problem or inconvenience. WPV has changed for the worse to the detriment of clients and patients. I'm very impressed with this vet clinic. Dr. Singleton used to treat my pup at another clinic several years ago. Today was our first visit and it won't be our last. We are so happy to have Dr. Singleton as our vet again! She, as well as all the staff we interacted with, are great. All my worries were addressed and we were in and out quite quickly. Wow just wow. Read the entire review!!!! I'd give zero stars if I could. A month ago I was running late for a vet apt for my cat that had a UTI. There was insane traffic due to construction. I called and they said I had a 15 minute grace period I arrived 1 minute before and when the front desk person went and spoke to the doctor they said I need to reschedule. And may I say the front desk is very cold when speaking to clients. Just very rude . They should have never said there was a grace period of that isn't true. I left and went to another vet immediately and Eventually wrote a bad review of the experience. HERES the kicker. I called a month later for my other pet for a teeth cleaning since she has been there before. They scheduled it which when i called to ask questions it was scheduled wrong. Incompetence again. It was a check up not a cleaning. They were going to call me back and when they did and i was BLACK LISTED from going back ever BECAUSE I left a bad review about the staff being rude. Went here because it was recommended by someone. I went to see Doctor Ho and was very disappointed. I asked few questions and the answer he gave me was not even accurate. My dog has a nose infection and I am not a Doctor and i can tell that there's something wrong. It's not just a cut from what he was saying. My dog's nose is very dry on the other side of his nose and some mucus or some weird crusted stuff inside his nose. By looking at it this is way too far from cuts. How could I trust a doctor if he doesn't have enough knowledge of his job? I don't understand why are these Doctors are charging so much money for examination when they can't provide you the right answer. read more

Shirlee has had a slew of health problems and I kid you not, I trust no one but Wicker Park Vet Clinic. Especially, the one and only Dr Mullin. I saw the reviews for this place and really wanted to come to this vet for the care of my 4.5 year old cat. I originally called and was informed that a new patient appointment would be several months out as they were booking out a ways in advance. I decided to do this and waited for a new patient appointment for a couple of months and let me tell you it was definitely worth the wait. While waiting for my appointment, I received several helpful reminders to make sure we were prepared for the appointment and that we could successfully set up the app that they use to keep track of appointments, reminders, etc. Of note, they do require masks to enter so make sure you have one with you. The doctor, tech, and front desk personnel were all super friendly and welcoming. My cat is usually pretty unhappy with new experiences and new people, so I was pretty nervous for hoe the experience would go. With how calm and kind the staff were, I know that played a huge part in how comfortable my cat was at her appointment. I was allowed to stay in the room with her for the whole appointment and could see how gentle they were with her while they did her exam. Thank you to everyone who made this a great experience! I would not recommend taking your pets to Wicker Park Vet. They lack the compassion that I've found with other vets. After going through treatment my dog retested positive for heartworm. This news was left for me on my voicemail, and after hearing it I called wicker park vet. I was heart broken to say the least, and when I spoke with their front desk I was told they were closing so I'd have to wait until the next day. Distraught I asked if I could please speak with the vet, and I was told that all they could do was leave a note. The next day I waited about 2 hours after they opened for a call... nothing. I then called them and was told the vet was in with another patient. I asked if I could remain on hold while that appointment wrapped and was told no, but they can leave another note. It's now been 4 hours since they opened today and I still haven't heard from them. We will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I just have to reiterate how much I love this office. I adopted a new dog this summer who's been a little high maintenance and has required several vet visits since I got her. Most recently, she was attacked by another dog at daycare and had part of her ear bitten off. This has been a bit traumatic, to say the least, but Wicker Park Vet has been so incredibly helpful, supportive and patient as we help my girl heal. I always saw Dr. Mullin with my previous dog, who we love so much, but at this rate due to the frequency of our visits, and limited availability, I think we've seen almost every vet in this office. We just switched to Wicker Park Vet and we are SO sad we didn't do it sooner- THEY ROCK!!! The techs were great with our pup who absolutely hates the vet and shakes in terror (she's a bit dramatic). Dr. Mullin is so knowledgeable and helped us with existing issues that our old vet had dismissed with no solution. Wicker Park Vet clinic started off on really good terms about a year and a half ago. We've seen both Dr Cohen and Dr Mullin. Both were friendly, knowledgeable, and truly care for the animals. We've overall been very happy with the vets - 5 stars. But that is not enough. We had issues multiple times with the front desk/reception (rude and unhelpful service) in making appointments and even in person. There is the exception of one (Cathy?) who is absolutely awesome! Because of this service, we had already been thinking of making a change. We stuck it out because we liked the vets. But we eventually had to make a change when it became too hard to get in on short notice when needed. When I called about a worsening skin infection (the subject of a prior appointment), we couldn't be seen for 4 business days and the front desk offered no alternatives or suggestions. We decided we couldn't wait and got him in elsewhere on a few hours notice over a weekend. When I called to cancel the appointment and told them we'd be going elsewhere, there was no real inquiry about why. read more

I write this review with mixed feelings because even though Dr. Jake and his staff have been nothing short of fantastic, we have had to see/call him way too often...it's actually gotten to the point where our dog loves going to the vet as much as he does the dog park. It is indeed a bizarro world we've crossed over into, Jimmy. All of these visits have rendered my Emporium token fund a few dollars short of beating every team in NBA JAM, yet thankfully we have always experienced an excellent level of care from every member of the staff at WPV. Dr. Cohen always assesses the sticky situation and lays out a plan of care very clearly, whether it be a freak accident at the dog park resulting in gaping flesh wounds or Bolo's brilliant idea to keep himself occupied by swallowing half of his bed stuffing on our dogsitter's attentive watch. However, what really separates WPV from any other clinic I've been to is the high level of follow up care and the amazing level of responsiveness by Dr. Cohen. Once our boy has been discharged, we get follow up calls daily from the staff to ensure that things are progressing nicely. If we encounter a setback, no matter how slight, Dr. Cohen goes above and beyond to keep our mind at ease. Two recent examples include when Bolo ripped the stitching from his wound and, on a day when the clinic was closed no less, the doctor offered to insert staples to help close the cut. He just happened to be in the office and immediately offered to have us drop in on his day off. And just this week, on Christmas Day no less, we contacted Dr. Cohen to get his advice after Bolo went and inhaled one of his dog slippers with cunning stealth during a heated round of family catch phrase. Not only did Dr. Cohen respond via phone call, he walked us through a solution that quickly (though not cleanly) solved the problem. Bottom line is I'm not sure if anyone else would have gone so far to help out their patients in a bind. We're extremely grateful to have found WPV and we'd recommend them to anyone. read more

Came the other day for the first time with my Sphynx kitten Morty. Wicker park vet had such great reviews, we had to give it a shot and so happy that we did! That staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. A lot of the staff came over to say hello and meet my cat, while sitting in the waiting room. Only waited about 5 minutes til the nurse brought me into the room. The nurse and Doctor were so sweet and attentive with Morty while examining and administering a couple shots. They seem like they genuinely cared for him and his comfort which is very important to me. They made me feel at ease and answered all questions. Went here after VCA Animal Ark in Logan Square wanted to charge me double for the same tests that Wicker Park Vet did for my cat. The vet here (Darcy) was understanding that I don't want to put my 14 year old cat through millions of tests and was able to give me medicine after one visit. VCA Animal Ark only verbally told me to "not feed my skinny cat senior food" but wanted to preform millions of test on her. We might not have a full 100% diagnosis, but we are treating my cat for IBD and I am glad to just have some answers even if they aren't guaranteed. I felt like I would have had to make 20 more appointments at Animal Ark before they even gave her prescribed wet food and Wicker Park Vet did it on the first visit. Everyone was great and understanding and helpful here. What a great place to take your pet (especially if you're not rich). read more

Since adopting our puppy in July, my family has been taking her to see Wicker Park Vet! We have seen three of the doctors so far, mostly due to our ever changing schedule and we have loved all of them. Dr. Oh will take the time to call you back in moments of worry to explain possible medical concerns without bringing the pet in, and is incredibly friendly. Dr. Mullen and Dr. Cohen are the other doctors we have worked with who are friendly, kind, patient, and knowledgable when talking with families. I cannot speak highly enough of this entire clinic, no matter which Dr we see, I know my Tuna is going to get the best care she can when we come, even if she's a scared little pup. The vet techs are sweet and kind, and the front desk workers can be fun but firm. Honestly, every time we come in, we know we will be taken care of, and we feel comfortable and heard. Wicker Park Veterinary Clinic - From her first visit, where she hid despite how great everyone is! - Veterinarians Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

My 6 month old kitten had tapeworm so I called and asked for medication. The woman on the phone said I have to bring in a fecal sample, and I told her that tapeworm does NOT show up in fecal samples. And that I have photos to show them the tapeworm that crawled out of his butt. She said I still have to drop a fecal sample off. Fine. They call back the next day and say they found nothing in the fecal sample (even though I TOLD them that....), and that it's probably tapeworm (yes I told you that already???). The vet called me and was very nice and professional and explained that we need to give my kitten a pill for the tapeworm and then a 3 month supply of frontline to kill of any more ticks. She said we can pick up the meds the next day. My boyfriend picks up the meds but said they only gave him the one pill for tapeworm, and they didn't say anything about frontline. I was out of town at the time and could not stop in and investigate why. Fast forward, I'm back home now, kittens worms are gone thanks to the one pill. But I'm wondering why they haven't called about the frontline not being given? So I call them and the lady answering the phone was very rude and kept saying "I don't know". Okay but isn't it your job to find out why, if a client is calling and asking you a question as to why a medication that the vet said we needed, wasn't given to us? They call me back saying the vet filled the frontline and it's ready to pick up. I ask why wasn't this given to us 2 weeks ago when we first picked up the medication. Their answer was "I don't know". My advice to this vet office is to train your front desk people adequately so they don't sound completely ignorant about basic veterinary things, and you should definitely train them on customer service, because every time I call them, there's some major "I don't care" attitude from whomever I speak to. It's a shame because the vets there are very kind and professional. I can't say the same for your other staff. Unfortunately I do think it's unacceptable that they "forgot" to dispense a medication that they specifically said we needed, and am even more annoyed that no one from the office caught it until I had to call and investigate myself. Edit: the vet called me and she was very helpful and apologized that the frontline wasn't given to us. She said the front desk people didn't read her notes correctly and forgot to give us the medication. Edit: vet called me and said my boyfriend didn't pay for the first medication. I asked my boyfriend and he said they never asked him to pay so he thought I already paid for it prior. So the receptionist not only forgot to give us our full meds, but also forgot to charge us. And they didn't realize this UNTIL I CALLED today. 2 weeks later. Wow. Again, the doctors there are A+. The front desk people there have terrible phone etiquette/zero customer service skills and clearly do not read imperative details on the doctors notes. That worries me. read more

I found wicker park on yelp for my new puppy. I hadn't been to a vet anywhere else in Chicago. Summary - Free easy Parking - Receptionists were very friendly on the phone - Got me in the same day that I called. Only two times available but at least made it work. - Very easy and quick once I was there - Gave me options and explained what was wrong. - Quick follow up the next day on a test I was waiting for (from the vet herself). No negatives whatsoever. If you are within a few miles of this place in the city it should be where you go. read more

If you saw my previous review, this won't be surprising, but my dog Tesla ate something she shouldn't have yesterday. Something really bad. Have you seen Shark Tank this season? Great show. Well, about a month ago an episode aired and one of the companies featured was Crio Bru. It is a coffee substitute made from pure ground cocoa beans. All the sharks hated it. Like, thought it was disgusting, spitting it out hating it. I just knew I had to try it. This Crio Bru is wonderful for humans, but you guessed it...super poisonous for dogs. When I got home in the afternoon, I realized she had gotten into it (my fault obviously), and eaten and entire sample pack of 5 ounces. This is 5 times the toxic dose. This girl, cutest and nicest dog on earth, could have been dead and would have had Dr. Cohen not saved her life (on the day the clinic was closed, I might add). It was a horrible few hours, but she made it and it's another notch on her belt. I asked him if this happens every day--you know, people coming in from poisoning their dogs. I figured people must do it ALL the time. It apparently doesn't. Thanks again for saving our lives because I definitely would have killed myself since it would have been my fault. We both live.
